Service was good but food was not.
Food was amazing! Would definitely be back for the sensational quality of food, however, the service needs tweaking. The waiter would tend to one table at a time without lifting his head to check on other surrounding tables that needed refills, utensils, extra plates, the bill, etc.
Really wonderful dinner! I went here for a work dinner and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff didn't rush us, the food was great and nicely spaced out, and the atmosphere was nice -- not too crowded, but still definitely felt festive and like people were there. Thank you so much to the whole team!
This place was garbage
Very nice looking place, we came here for Valentine's day. Although we were late, they were happy to accommodate us. Price fixe menu, either short ribs or salmon, and they had run out of short ribs. However, the salmon was very good. My only complaint was that we were seated right near the entrance, which was cold and windy every time someone opened the door (which was often). Staff was friendly and experience was good.
No! This place was awful! Once seated, no one spoke to us for 15 mins! No water, nothing. Our waitress was oblivious, didn't get us our drinks and when she finally did, had no knowledge on the wines or whiskey. Our pasta was ice cold and our main course, the kitchen completely ran out of! We were there for an hour and a half and got absolutely nowhere with our meal. We ended up getting papusas from the food truck by our house since it was so late. Mind you, this was all for VALENTINE'S DAY.
Our experience wasn’t great, nor was it of the other people sitting near us. You were simply under-prepared and under staffed. You guys booked too many tables and the service suffered dramatically.
Went there for Valentines. Horrible experience!!! Got the first two courses after waiting 2 hours. Then the waitress told us that they are out of the main course!!! Left the restaurant without having our meal!!! Definitely a Valentines to remember!!! :((
Overpriced and service was not good. I took my gf there for valentines and spent 2hrs there because it took so long to get our food.
Valentine’s Day dinner was a disaster. Horrible service and inedible food. You can have better food at any dinner in town. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Worst restaurant in downtown
Good set up. Service was terrible. We didn't receive drinks that were paired with our meal. It was hard to get anyone's attention. Staff was short and could not keep with guests that were booked.
My wife and I came to Miro for the first time for Valentine's Day. The food was good and we will come back at least once more. We are "foodies" and whether we add Miro to our regular list of restaurants will depend on the service. Miro was packed for Valentine's Day and the number of servers on duty was insufficient to meet the restaurant's needs that night resulting in waits between courses and drinks that was far too long. Eventually, I went to the bar to wait for drinks to be made and I noticed that several other customers then followed my example, confirming that I wasn't the only frustrated diner. Our server apologized and said that a couple of their "team members" had called in at the last moment to say they wouldn't be in that night. Whether that was due to illness, or their own Valentine's date nights or something else was not explained, but a restaurant simply cannot afford to be understaffed on a Valentine's Day Friday if they want to retain customers.
This was the worst experience ever. I’d never ever go back to this establishment
Valentine's Dinner reservations review:
1. The menu on Opentable did not match the menu from our dinner last night. My wife loves seabass, but last night's menu was for salmon. I should have just left then, but decided to stick it ou
2. The setting obviously had the quantity over quality vibe. Uneven tables and uncomfortable folding chairs were spaced evenly to maximize seating.
3. Service. Understaffed. We had 1 main server that seemed to have the entire basement level to herself. She did her best, but just couldn't keep up. It took 2 1/2 hrs. To get from amuse-bouche to dessert. Speaking of dessert; we ordered the affogat, but was served vanilla ice cream instead due to the espresso machine "blowing up". We did not get the option of choosing another dish (not that we would take it anyway I. Fear of another 30 min wait), instead the bowls were rushly place on our table for our server to make her quick getaway.
4. Noise level. The music was left on bar mode level where we had to yell at each other for Valentine's Day.
Poor choice on my part. Maybe try a dry run with my girlfriend first before taking my wife.
This was the absolute worst service I have ever received. After flying into town to take my lady to our Valentine’s Day dinner we were seated right away as we had reservations. But immediately following was where the poor service began. We were given our first course out of 5 courses right away. Followed by our salads. After waiting an hour for the server to come back I had to walk upstairs and ask for the manager. Where I was told that wouldn’t be possible.... I have never been told that in all my professional dining experiences. To make a very very long story short here we are 3 hours later not even finished with our meal because the waiter never came over nor did the check. We were sitting there for almost 4 hours till we decided this was the biggest waste of 4 hours of our lives and truly embarrassing for myself and my lady. And we weren’t the only couple that had this problem. There were about 5 other couples that were not getting service as well. I will never recommend this restaurant for anyone to dine at. If I could give ZERO stars I would.
Valentine’s Day fixed menu. One of the dishes was served cold. My main course was good but the gfs salmon was over cooked and not that flavorful.
They rushed a Prix Fixe meal that cost $200 for two people, on Valentine's. We clearly had half are food still on our plates and they were serving the second courses then same thing happened on third course, I'm talking 7 or 10mins, extremely rushed. Chef or Management were a disappointment on a special day like this. Sigh...
The worst experience ever! Booked a Valentine’s day at this restaurant and then reconfirmed it when I received an OpenTable reminder email only to arrive at the restaurant and to be told that my reservation was cancelled by them and that supposedly they had tried to call me. Showed my calls log to the manager and there was definitely no call from them. The manager didn’t even apologize nor propose another acceptable solution. What a way to spend Valentine’s day and what a way to end my trip to Los Angeles. Avoid this restaurant at all cost!!! They need a lesson in hospitality and service.
My team enjoyed the family style and atmosphere.
The setting isn’t much to behold and the place is cold both literally and metaphorically. BUT, every item we ate was extraordinary ( Best and most unique beet salad ever; terrific salmon risotto) and the wines by the glass are very good and well priced. Go for the food, but not a romantic evening out.
We will be back.
Hostess looked overwhelmed when we checked in for our reservation even though there was not too many people dining. We decided to sit at the bar, the bartender was friendly and catered to our drink choices. Food was good but nothing we would come back to. After dinner we went to their downstairs lounge. The vibe is good with music playing in the background. Drink selection is not wide but good. Only problem is that it smelled like sewage down there. The bartenders tried to cover it by burning incense. We would come back to the lounge but not the restaurant.
The restaurant never notified me to let me know the upstairs was closed for a private event. I was served dinner at the bar downstairs. Service was good. Cheese plate was excellent but the lasagna was just OK. It is a good neighborhood bar and happy hour was fine.
Some of the better Italian food I have had in Los Angeles. The environment is elegant and understated. The service impeccable. I highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the tiramisu.
This is our seventh time at miro and unfortunately our worst experience. Despite stating on our open table reservation that we would have a six year old, two year old and one year old present celebrating our sons first birthday, we were never informed that this restaurant does not have high chairs or anything for children. No call, Emil, or solution offered when we arrived. I was also disappointed that despite writing it and saying or multiple times no acknowledgement of my sons birthday occurred (greeting, cake, candle, etc.). I also had one lovely cocktail and hoped for another but no one came by to ask. A few folks from our party went to the bar to get drinks instead. I was too busy holding my young child while eating to do so. Such a shame. We used to brag about this place and recommend it to friends. Our special event experience changed our mind.
Excellent food, great service, would recommend for business lunches
The food was delicious and prepared well. The noise level was painful. It is very popular with a younger crowd. It is steps from the Expo Line which makes it easy to go there.
Great food and service, looking forward to my next visit.
Excellent food & service.
A really high quality experience in all ways. A handsome and comfortable space with fun views of the downtown bustle (there’s also a swanky bar/lounge downstairs), truly caring and capable service, and exceptionally tasty cuisine, including killer lasagna, mushroom rigatoni and roasted salmon over mushroom risotto. A complete delight!
Came here after a long day of work, couple penicillins and a Miro do Oro plus the ribeye. Drinks were outstanding, excellent bartender. Steak was flavorful, pumpkin mash outstanding and the charred veggies delicious
Unfortunately this was not the vibe we were looking for on NYE. They rushed us in and out we were done a little over an hour. We asked to have our meals spaced out and before we were even done with one course our next course was waiting for us. It was not packed and not like they needed our table to seat someone else as several tables were empty. Will not be back.
I would like to try Miro outside of the pre fixed New Year's Menu. The menu looks amazing. Our appetizers were very good. The main course came on time for one person and the other three of us had to wait an additional 10 minutes which made it awkward for the person who received the main course. They were apologetic. The restaurant was not crowded so it was quiet and we were able to have a great conversation. I would visit Miro another time to try the regular menu.
Dinner was good... unfortunately I can’t say amazing and I was a little underwhelmed by the see it for such a pricey pre-fix menu.. $130 per person on NYE... some of the food wasn’t at ideal temp.. it was just slightly underwhelming... but I did enjoy and would go back. The homemade pasta was excellent
Cool atmosphere, absolutely awful food
Great service & food was delicious
the noodle plates were too salty, the server did not advise us that we ordered too much food.
Lasagna came as a giant blob and the bread (special order) was to cheesy for my taste.
I find it annoying when Italian restaurants don't just provide some simple bread but require it as a special order.
The Brussel sprouts were delicious! The pork Bolognese was good as was the pizza. The restaurant was very busy towards the end of our meal. Seems to be a hot spot for DTLA!
