We were there off hours to catch a plane so it was nice and quiet in this usually bustling bistro. The mushroom soup was rich without being cream-heavy and the lamb shank was mouthwatering and monstrous. It is two full meals at the least including the basil mashed potatoes and the ratatouille. Yum!
Great food and service but tin ceiling makes it very loud.
Had not been to Miramar since the summer...don't know why...food was good, cozy on a chilly March night ~sat in the red chairs right by the front, never felt a draft..chairs are deep. My friend really liked his cocktail, I was offered regular or sparkling water ~they didn't say that there is a charge for bottled sparkling...dinner was good ~ steak , tomato basil soup and ceasar salad, finished off two cappuccinos. Happy diners.

I always forget how expensive Miramar is, but we never leave disappointed. The food and atmosphere are only rivaled by the service. The staff is so professional and friendly--they treat you like you're a special guest to an exclusive club (and I'm nobody--really). We tend to choose Miramar for special occasions, but if it were slightly more affordable, we'd go more often. In the meantime, we may have to invent some special occasions!
The service was very attentive, the food portions were generous, and the atmosphere is very charming. The food itself, however, was just okay for the price, and the Cuban-inspired options were hard to come by. The salmon was overcooked and the preparation of the sole seemed to overwhelm the flavor of the fish. We're not writing this restaurant off just yet, but we've been more impressed by others nearby.

I go to Miramar whenever I am able for lunch or dinner. The food is outstanding; the ambiance is warm and the service is impeccable. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy this restaurant.
Always a reliable standard of food and service but the time taken for our food to arrive on this occasion was unusually extensive. I hope it was an exception and not the new norm.
I haven’t been to the restaurant in years, we were celebrating a birthday and had a very enjoyable time.It was nice to be around other people whom were enjoying a cocktail as we were.
We usually have great service at Miramar but this night it was awful.
Food was good, great seafood! Very cool vibe and service is always good. Just a bit pricy for what you get.
After two meals, one lunch and one dinner, we have concluded that the service is excellent and friendly, the food is bland and monotonous, the chef is clueless about French cuisine and flavor, the wine and food is overpriced, and the $30 and under measure is utterly false. Bread is not French, not baked at the locations, and fails for its empty flavor. Loud and unpleasant. And why are there so many non-French items on the menu?
Combined Valentines/ Birthday celebration. I was able to get reservation on relatively short notice. Customer service as usual was outstanding. They did not act like they were doing me a favor to make a reservation for me. They split our orders on separate plates and brought out the food with perfect timing- no rush.

Awesome place for family reunion dinner. Outstanding service, wonderful food and great setting fir our family. Memory lane dining with seafood. Steak frites & salmon entrees were perfect. Highly recommend. Special shout out to our server.

Miramar was a very pleasant dinner except for one thing. The food was great; my baked onion soup was as good as any, and the availability of Dover sole on the menu was a real treat. My wife had a wild mushroom soup which was rich and delicious, and she loved her pork and duck cassoulet! The space has the feeling of a bistro, the menu larger than that. Prices were a little higher than expected, but well worth it. Except...I ordered a certain vintage wine and was brought one of the same winery. I did not inspect the label carefully enough, because it was not the wine I ordered, but a significantly more expensive one; i didn't realize it until the check came. It was partially my fault, so i didn't make a fuss. I am not in the habit of questioning everything when I order it, but I will have to start again. Live and learn, I guess. That detracted from the overall experience.

We went with another couple for a fun night out. We were seated in the back room next to the emergency exit on a particularly cold night. The two of us closest to the door were extremely uncomfortable by the temperature and draft. There wasn't anything to be done - all the tables around us were full, so we just tolerated it.
The cheese platter was nice, the Ferrari cab was good as were the steak frites, but the salmon special was lackluster. I didn't care for the sauce, and the salmon was overcooked despite my request that it be medium rare. That dish just missed it for me.
But, as I've been to mirimar before and enjoyed it, I may give it another chance.
Good experience, BUT we mentioned “celebrating birthday” on Open Table reservation and no one ever acknowledged it.
This excellent French bistro is authentic from the menu down to the red banquettes and tiled walls. Very good food and service, and a marvelous setting.

It was New Year's Eve and we thought it would be a nice place to go. We went early which was a good decision. After looking at the menu my wife ordered a salad, Tomato Basil Soup and a special Sea Bass cooked in paper. We both ordered the Sea Bass. Well it turns out everything my wife ordered she didn't like from salad, soup to Sea Bass. A trifecta of disappointment. She enjoyed her drinks and coffee. I didn't mind my appetizer of Smoked Salmon, salad and Sea Bass but the Bass wasn't a Hugh hit with me. Not a packed Sea Bass guy. The fish just didn't have the flavor I was expecting and that is where my wife was going. She has very sensitive taste buds. If she doesn't like something, she won't eat it period. After dinner we went to the bar which was a highlight. The Bar tender was very nice and conversational. We each had a glass of Port and that seemed to resolve the evenings dinner. We'll go back but it might be a while. Like the bar and have eaten here before with no disappointments. It happens but it did leave a bad taste in our mouths. We'll be back and I would recommend the restaurant.
Splurged on the New Years Eve lobster and it was worth it. The entire lobster was removed from the shell and sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes with a delicious buttery sauce. Perfectly prepared ( not overcooked) and no work involved to eat it. Service was impeccable. Hubby had sea bass en papillote and it was also perfectly prepared and delicious. Will definitely go back.
Miramar is a Classic and a Sure Thing. I forgot how attentive the wait staff is, without being overly intrusive. Great scene, food, wine list, and overall warmth and character. Always a great night!

Miramar is a neighborhood jewel with great French bistro cuisine, excellent service and a cozy restaurant atmosphere. It is the go-to place for our gal gatherings. I brought my teenage daughter for her inaugural visit and she loved it. Service was superb. Coming back soon. ❤️❤️
It was wonderful. Gabriel Viti continues to stay at the summit of all restaurants on the Chicago North shore. I took my sister and Mother in Law for Christmas Eve dinner and they always complain about everything anywhere but at Miramar on a crazy busy night they were loaded with compliments on everything from the French Onion soup to the Veal, the Scallops, the Macaroni with Bacon and my sea bass which Gabriel recommended himself were all exceptional. It's such a wonderful spot because it's casual it's upscale its dressy with great service and great Food done right.
I had the duck with orange sauce--the sauce was a marvelous combination of flavors-I'd love to have the recipe! The duck itself was perfectly crisped. Excellent bread as well. The restaurant proved to be quite popular on Christmas Eve, easy on-street parking.

We spent a lot of time trying to find a French restaurant open for lunch (for our 42nd wedding anniversary). Miramar was one of the few options, and we decided to give it a try. We were extremely pleased. We sat in immensely comfortable red leather winged chairs which enclosed us in privacy. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere. We were happy with everything we ordered, especially the endive salad. Service was prompt. We left feeling "this was exactly what we wanted" !
