Good experience, BUT we mentioned “celebrating birthday” on Open Table reservation and no one ever acknowledged it.
This excellent French bistro is authentic from the menu down to the red banquettes and tiled walls. Very good food and service, and a marvelous setting.

It was New Year's Eve and we thought it would be a nice place to go. We went early which was a good decision. After looking at the menu my wife ordered a salad, Tomato Basil Soup and a special Sea Bass cooked in paper. We both ordered the Sea Bass. Well it turns out everything my wife ordered she didn't like from salad, soup to Sea Bass. A trifecta of disappointment. She enjoyed her drinks and coffee. I didn't mind my appetizer of Smoked Salmon, salad and Sea Bass but the Bass wasn't a Hugh hit with me. Not a packed Sea Bass guy. The fish just didn't have the flavor I was expecting and that is where my wife was going. She has very sensitive taste buds. If she doesn't like something, she won't eat it period. After dinner we went to the bar which was a highlight. The Bar tender was very nice and conversational. We each had a glass of Port and that seemed to resolve the evenings dinner. We'll go back but it might be a while. Like the bar and have eaten here before with no disappointments. It happens but it did leave a bad taste in our mouths. We'll be back and I would recommend the restaurant.
Splurged on the New Years Eve lobster and it was worth it. The entire lobster was removed from the shell and sitting on a bed of mashed potatoes with a delicious buttery sauce. Perfectly prepared ( not overcooked) and no work involved to eat it. Service was impeccable. Hubby had sea bass en papillote and it was also perfectly prepared and delicious. Will definitely go back.
Miramar is a Classic and a Sure Thing. I forgot how attentive the wait staff is, without being overly intrusive. Great scene, food, wine list, and overall warmth and character. Always a great night!

Miramar is a neighborhood jewel with great French bistro cuisine, excellent service and a cozy restaurant atmosphere. It is the go-to place for our gal gatherings. I brought my teenage daughter for her inaugural visit and she loved it. Service was superb. Coming back soon. ❤️❤️
It was wonderful. Gabriel Viti continues to stay at the summit of all restaurants on the Chicago North shore. I took my sister and Mother in Law for Christmas Eve dinner and they always complain about everything anywhere but at Miramar on a crazy busy night they were loaded with compliments on everything from the French Onion soup to the Veal, the Scallops, the Macaroni with Bacon and my sea bass which Gabriel recommended himself were all exceptional. It's such a wonderful spot because it's casual it's upscale its dressy with great service and great Food done right.
I had the duck with orange sauce--the sauce was a marvelous combination of flavors-I'd love to have the recipe! The duck itself was perfectly crisped. Excellent bread as well. The restaurant proved to be quite popular on Christmas Eve, easy on-street parking.
