About Miramar Beach Restaurant
The Historic Miramar Beach Restaurant & Bar has a long and colorful history going back more than 70 years. It was originally designed and built as a Prohibition speakeasy to serve the liquor smuggled into the Bay Area through a drop off point on Miramar Beach. We have kept the historical ambiance and décor of the 1920s including an incomparable collection of photos from the era. The food was fine, not exceptional, but still good. The service was the same, but also very friendly. Ate out on the deck which as a great view of the water. Casual and relaxed and comfortable dining experience which was perfect for catching up with friends and getting away to the coast. Ate there at noon on a Friday and was disappointed that they do not serve breakfast. They do have brunch on Sunday's. The crab cakes were a good consolation. All in all I would recommend to friends looking to dine by the coast.
We've been here several times now and always go for our Anniversary. It's been great for birthday's, anniversaries and just a Sunday Brunch. Recently we went with a larger group for an Engagement party and it did not disappoint. Everyone that works there are super friendly, food is very good, they have a great pianist, the bar is awesome (wrap around old school style) and there is a great outdoor patio area. It's also right on the beach - kind of a hidden gem. Highly recommend!
The food was very good. We sat outside on their deck in the sun overlooking the water. We could have stayed there all day. What a great find! My Aunt and I each ordered 2 appetizers and it was PLENTY of food. I had the artichoke cakes and the Diablo shrimp. She had the seafood chowder and the crab cakes. All was very good. I would recommend this place. FYI, they seem to have outdoor heating so it is probably OK on colder days if you wanted to sit outside. If there is a cold wind, you might want to sit inside which also looked lovely.
We were here several years ago to celebrate a family reunion. Loved the daytime ambience, so decided to come back for our anniversary, in the evening. Our server, Juan, was amazing. View was fabulous and food was great. Went with the server's recommendation: cioppino, during crab season. Best meal I've had in a long time.
My wife and I have lived on the coast for many years and had somehow never tried Miramar for dinner. On a whim we made a reservation on a Saturday night, and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, my Negroni cocktail was outstanding, and our wines were also very good. Our server was attentive and had a great personality. The only drawback, and it’s a minor one, was the noise level, which made conversation a little difficult at times. We will definitely go back, and look forward to either dining outside or at a window table so we can enjoy the great food and a Coast sunset. Also, the piano player was very enjoyable.
Went for my anniversary, and it happened to be their specials night - 19.95 for surf and turf, and 30% off bottles of wine. Needless to say, it was quite busy. A couple small hiccups in the service, but then as I said it was very busy.
Despite being a "special" the steak was quite good, and the lobster tail was outstanding. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly.
Terry Disley on the piano makes for a special night in any case. All in all, a killer package.
It was dark when we arrived, so no ocean view, but in the day it is spectacular.
Great! Bar service on 11/4 around 12:30 - not so good. Not friendly, not attentive - talked casually to another guy while we waited and looked at him to finish and take our order. Not very observant - there was 5 of us at the bar and when two left to go to outside - took our drinks away without asking. Charged $3.00 for sparking water out of dispenser - not bottled! Think he would have asked if they still wanted it...
Lovely location just on the beach with outside seating. Service is good but food is definirely average. Had steamed clams with a generous portion but many cracked shells and sometimes sandy. Tuna was average as was quality of filet and fish entree not memorable
Went for dinner and the food was very disappointing, not like what is was a few months ago.
Returned for lunch the next day, and the "prime rib sandwich" was a joke. What meat there was resembled overdone small pieces you would find in a taco.
We will not return.
My Wifes Birthday with our grown children plus 1. Going knowing that we had a reservation took the stress out of the evening.
We were promptly seated and had appetizers and drink for those who wanted them, I am an Iced tea drinker and the tea was either instant or had some flavoring. In a high end restaurant the tea should be brewed, and have a non flavored straight taste. Just as you would serve a flavored coffee as your only option.
All of our meals were tasty and well prepared and decent portions. The desert was great and although I never saw the bill the prices seemed reasonable.
It is not my first time there and will not be the last.
I've been here many times and have never left disappointed.
The seafood is always good. I can recommend the grilled salmon, the baked halibut and the parmesan encrusted petrale sole. The accompanying rice and vegetables, usually asparagus, are fresh and appropriately portioned.
Tasty dessert selections, including the chocolate cake, chocolate fondant and the apple pie.
The service ranges from okay to great. Anytime we've been lucky enough to have Lucy as our server it's been great.
Very nice view of the ocean and outdoor seating with heat lamps if you'd rather breathe the salt air.
The only negative I've experienced is that check-in process can sometimes be slow and somewhat awkward when there's only one person available to handle both check-in and seat you.
CAN NOT BEAT THE SEASIDE VIEW ! MANNY THE CHEF IS THE BEST ! OUR FAVORITE WAITRESS LUCY IS BEYOND EQUAL ! TERRY the PIANIST PLAYS ALL THE OLD FAVORITES WITH HIS OWN SPECIAL FLAIR , IT'S OBVIOUS WHY HE'S WON ALL THE AWARDS THAT HE POSSESSES !
