About Miramar Beach Restaurant
The Historic Miramar Beach Restaurant & Bar has a long and colorful history going back more than 70 years. It was originally designed and built as a Prohibition speakeasy to serve the liquor smuggled into the Bay Area through a drop off point on Miramar Beach. We have kept the historical ambiance and décor of the 1920s including an incomparable collection of photos from the era. With only a frontage road between us and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, we have the number one view and sunset on the Coast side. Check out our website at www.miramarbeachrestaurant.com.

Miramar Beach Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time. It was like a day at the circus! The inept valet staff, the waitress with the rolling eyes, the hair in appetizer and the fatty, inedible ahi and, to top it off, the rude manager. The Miramar has been our go-to spot on the coast, but not any more!
LUCY is OUR FAVORITE WAITRESS , LAST THURSDAY
PRIME RIB NITE GOT TOO NOISY ! ... SO BAD THAT
THAT WE COULD HARDLY HEAR TERRY THE GREAT
PIANIST & WE WERE ONLY ABOUT 45 or 50 FEET
FROM THE PIANO.................. FOOD EXCELLENT
HOUSE WINE ( RUTHERFORD MERLOT) GREAT
This restaurant was a fun fine. The view was spectacular. The restaurant was busy and very
lively. Our server was friendly and fun. The food came in a timely manner. The food was very good. There was a nice variety for the four of us. The place also has great history.
Haven't been here in a awhile but it's not as good as I remembered. Server didn't seem to care if we were there or not. This was exemplified by his display of annoyance when we asked to have a dirty knife and a dirty soup cup replaced. He was not very attentive with refilling of drinks and botched the service by bringing all the food out at once instead of appetizers and soup first. Furthermore, he had several displays of uncleanliness when he used his hands and arms to wipe sweat from his brow. View was great and we sat next to the window. Food was average other than the seafood chowder. Lobster roll was slightly cheaper than Sam's Chowder House, but significantly smaller than Sam's. Restaurant failed to acknowledge why were there which was for my mom and daughter's bday. Thought we would try something different since we always go to Sam's, which is where we will be going back to next time.
We took my 86-year-old dad and 90-year-old uncle out for the day, which included at stop at Miramar for lunch. The weather was absolutely perfect, so the view from our window seat was spectacular. Our waiter, Matt, was very friendly, as was all of the staff. The food was decent -- better than I expected but hardly memorable. I had shrimp scampi, which was garlicky and not overcooked (so often the case). My dad had halibut, which was an unusually thin portion but also large. It was better than ok. My husband had fish & chips and my uncle had pasta with scallops and shrimp. Both of those were just fair. But when you can eat while enjoying a good IPA or glass of wine (decent lists for both) and watch windsurfers and surfers glide over sparkling water, it almost doesn't matter.
The Miramar Beach Restaurant is one of our favorite coastal restaurants. We enjoy the excellent food, service, ambiance, and music! We love that there is a Locals night! We often run into old friends there. Our dinners were cooked to perfection: roasted rack of lamb served with mashed potatoes and a Cabernet reduction. The spinach salad there has been a favorite for many years! The dessert, cheesecake, was smooth, served with a raspberry glaze without being too sweet. The graham cracker crust was delicious! We are happy to recommend this neighborhood gen!
Miramar is truly a classy restaurant where you and your spouse or partner can enjoy good food and experience the breathtaking views of Half Moon Bay. We live over 70 miles away and never regret it. The food is good quality, it’s a nice ambiance and we enjoy the fact that there’s a pianist playing live in the background.
This restaurant is in a great location, right on the ocean. We got a window seat with the beach and ocean view. The menu has a lot of variety, seafood, steaks, chicken and pasta. The Parmesan artichokes cakes for appetizers were crunchy and tasty. The service was great, we were seated promptly at our reserved time. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with the menu and the offered us some history on the restaurant. Overall it is a casual style restaurant, but you could dress up and come here too.
My main complaint was seating. I requested a front view of ocean seat and our location was not as requested. Food was good. Live piano music was a little loud and unfortunately police and EMT were obstructing the view which was not the restaurants fault. This was the best meal we had in Half Moon Bay.
We had gone to the Miramar many times before and always enjoyed good food and good service BUT NOT THIS TIME.
Our waitress seem more concerned with every table except ours. She served meals to others who came after us first. Even though we had less in our party. We had to repeteadly ask for refills on drinks and bread and the status of our order . Our salads and appetizers came very slowly and finally our main course took an hour and a half to get served. The steak and lobster we ordered came with steak cubes Instead of steaks. Supposedly the kitchen ran out of steaks due to the hour and a half to get out of meals served to us. The drawn butter had already started to lose its clarity by the time the food got to our table, a sure sign the food has been sitting around for a while. This is the second time we have had this waitress so obviously this is her usual mode of operation. We let the first time slide figuring it was a bad day for her but twice with the same result sends up a red flag .
Overall, the food was average and the service was horrible this time around.
We will probably still return but request a different server like the ones we had before instead of this particular waitress if we get seated in your area which is the far right corner from the front entrance of the restaurant.
This is a view you can't beat - and the service is excellent. Some of the food quite good - some a bit average but you go for the view, the great service (at least at lunch have not been for dinner in a while) and watch the whales at play. I go here for business lunches and love it.
Good food and service but the piano music overwhelms the place. Very difficult to carry on a conversation without raising your voice, which everyone has to, making the restaurant a very noisy place on the nights they have a piano player. The music should be in the background, not overwhelm.
This was our 40 anniversary. After I reserved the table through OpenTable, I called the restaurant and let them know that it is our 40th anniversary and would appreciate a table by the window. They said they would do their best to accommodate us. When we arrived at the restaurant, I explained that it is our 40 anniversary and would like to get a table by the window. The receptionist was very cold and rude and said we have to wait an hour if we want a table by the window. They put us a table next to dishes and cash register. Yet there were two tables that were available by the windows. I asked why we could not get one of them, the person who sat us down said there are reserved. We then ordered our drinks. My husband cocktail came in reasonable time, but it took 10 minutes to get my red glass of wine. I would never visit or recommend this restaurant. Terrible experience!!!
I reserved a table for 6pm on 9/2. We arrived to be told the restaurant is closed. Mind you there was traffic on the way there. We left at 5pm and arrived at exactly 6pm. No call to say hey we shut down the restaurant, here's a gift card for your trouble or suggestions on where else to grab dinner.
Visited on the hottest day of the year! 9-2-2017 Asked for for window seat @ 11:30 got it!! Waiter was the best...gave us suggestions from the menu...artichoke cakes were the bomb!! We ended up staying until 5 pm because of the heat wave! Only downfall was the bathrooms went out of order...had to hike up a block for public bathrooms...ugh.
Service and food was wonderful!!! Will be coming back ! Btw Louie's combo shrimp and crab salad is the best!!
