Mirabelle has been open for several years now but under Executive Chef Keith Bombaugh this restaurant has truly started to shine. The menu is inventive and delicious, the ambiance is great for a date night, service prompt and attentive. This is one of the best restaurants in the city.
If there’s anything I would like to see improved, it’s the bar. The drinks are good and consistent but I’m not “wowed”.
Our waiter was fantastic. The ambience quiet and classy. The Bouillabaisse was wonderful and recommended by our waiter. I love how they didn’t rush you like so many restaurants do these days. We were there for my birthday, great choice. I highly recommend it and looking forward to going back.
We had a wonderful meal and service. The birthday boy was happy and impressed w the quality of the food. What else could I ask for? I unfortunately was sick and could not fully appreciate the meal and wine but the servers recommendation to start w the bouillabaisse was spot on. Added bonus: the presentation was spectacular.
The service and the ambience was outstanding. Although they were not participating in restaurant week for lunch, I found items on the menu that were affordable. You can never go wrong eating at Mirabelle's
Excellent service in a quiet and relaxing environment. Good wine list.
Food was satisfactory but not a wow, and for the price these days in dc folks would probably expect more. Service was fine but not impressive. About 10-15 min after we arrived a couple left before ordering and the maitre d asked why and they said no one had come to take their order (I was sitting there with a glass of bubbly having sit down after them and acquired a drink before them), it was their anniversary, and they had a babysitter. So, service may vary?
For a celebratory occasion, or just because, Mirabelle was excellent. The service was attentive but not annoying and the food was excellent.
We were fully satisfied with the menu, the service, and the ambience. The variety of choices and the obvious sophistication of the preparation and quality was greatly appreciated. The staff was particularly attentive.
New Years Eve excellent ambiance and evening!
Our latest visit to Mirabelle was just as good as the previous ones. The setting is one of the best in town for a romantic meal, the service is thoroughly professional, and both the food and drinks are superb. How this restaurant does not have a Michelin star, while critics' favorites like Komi and Inn at Little Washington do, is beyond me.
Love it .... great food . Would recommend this to everyone.
Food it’s very good and service amazing good place to go
We went to Mirabelle for Christmas Eve for a nice romantic evening and loved the location right down by the White House! It was not busy when we first got there. Our waiter was very nice though he never said his name which was unusual. Once we asked it during the evening, he seemed to be friendlier. We ordered glasses of Pinot Gris to go with our first course of oysters and was brought a Gewurztraminer in error. We were told to enjoy it free of charge (seriously???) and that they would bring out the correct one. A sweet wine does NOT go with what we ordered and my husband never drank his. Well the Pinot Gris never arrived after asking several times only to finally be told while eating our second course, that they were out of it. My husband also ordered a Cab Franc to go with his duck and was told that was out as well. Presentation was beautiful but size was extremely small! The foie gras was the size of a mushroom and that was it for our second course! The evening ending with ordering coffee to go with the very disappointing crepe suzette that was bitter due to the alcohol they poured on top of a fried crepe! The coffee was served luke warm and with no cream. We asked several times and after my second cup of black coffee, the cream arrived. The timing was just completely off with the staff which made it a disappointing evening. Our waiter was very nice but they really didn't seem to have enough staff on hand. My husband has no desire to go back but I would be willing to give it another try as long as it wasn't a holiday and we weren't in a rush! All in all, we would have done much better to have gone some place else.
We sat for 55 minutes and then the server came to get our drinks order. Very poor service. The pre-fix dinner had 4 courses and we had to wait 45 minutes between each course. The server never checked if needed any other drinks. Will not recommend it.
Christmas Eve fixed price menu -- as others reviewed, should have been a no-brainer from a Michelin-starred place. From hostess and wait staff to bussing and meal, the entire evening was a downward decline of tomfoolery: Endless waiting (3 hours total). uncleared plates, 45 mins between courses, no drink/water refills, no bread, no customer engagement/updates. Understaffed, unprepared or unconcerned?...whatever the case, Mirabelle was a letdown from previous experiences here.
Christmas Eve fixed menu, 4 course. Seemed as if they did not have the staff to support the number of tables seated. Waited around 20 minutes between courses. 2 1/2 hours for a 4 course meal.
Food was great and service friendly and professional, just seemed understaffed.
Pre-fixed menu was $85 per person. I had the orange duck breast as the main course and it was about the size of a chicken nugget.
“Miserabelle” - was seated, waited twenty minutes to order drinks. Drinks came back wrong. Continued waiting for 45 minutes and didn’t even get our order taken or the corrected drinks. Just over disappointing for a Christmas Eve special. As a prior server. Pre-fixe is easy. Take the order give it to the kitchen they handle the rest. Server couldn’t have been less aware of what everyone in the restaurant was doing. Do not recommend.
The meal was good but nothing particularly noteworthy, particularly given prices. Service was attentive—very quiet setting.
One of the best DC restaurants. The food dishes are imaginative, well prepared and beautifully presented. The lamb belly starter was unusual and delicious. The venison dish was superb. A full selection of French and other country's wines. the service always has been most professional the times we have dined there.
Second time dining with the new management and this really is one of the best dining experiences in dc... great wine, excellent service, creative delicious food, and they make a point to actually accommodate my friends food restrictions without compromising the food quality and beauty.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent food, and the three-course option is attractively priced.
Made the mistake of going for Christmas eve! The wait was endless. 4 course menu in 3 hours. No updates, no apologies.
As with other comments, really wanted to like that place as well but couldn't. This was our second time there. The first time was slightly better.
Too bad, the food is good but the service is horrendous.
Food was terrible and the service was worse. It was presented nicely, but was tasteless.
I really want to like this place - this was our 3rd visit and the 1st since new management took over. The food was definitely better than before, but the service was not at all what you would expect of this mgmt team or at this price point. Our server was clearly overwhelmed, but no one else seemed to want to help or address the fact that we were out of water and wine and had no food, we waited for almost an hour between the 2nd and main course. No one was paying any attention at all to our table despite our efforts to grab anyone's attention and bringing it to the attention of multiple team members. When the manager came by for an obligatory "how is it going" after we'd been waiting for a long time, we indicated that we were still waiting for main course, but she never returned. Our server was very defensive when we mentioned the delays and wondering what caused them, telling us we had been served the same as other diners who were still there, despite the fact that was not at all true and multiple tables had come and gone in the time it took us to get through our final courses (we were there for over 4 hours). I don't expect to have to continually ask for water, to order wine, and have orders just forgotten (we never got the "special" faberge egg we order in the beginning). People have bad nights and it was a busy Saturday night, but the management should be paying more attention and try to resolve issues given what this restaurant aspires to be. Again I want to like it, but I just can't. Should have gone to Marcel's. . .
Everything was great!
Amazing food. Truly amazing.
One Of the Best dining Experiences in DC. Enjoyed the shrimp, Boudin Blanc and the Truffle Risotto. Incredible Flavor and Flawless execution. Service was spot on, there when needed but fading away at the right time. Insider Hint... Ask About the Off Menu Foie gras Faberge Egg and The White Truffle Ice Cream.
Food was fantastic but service was slow and it seemed they were understaffed. Ordered a bottle of wine from wine list and was brought another bottle as the first was not available. Oddly, the same situation occurred at table next to us. Maybe revise the wine list to those bottles one has in house?
Great food perfect portions
Awful service, inattentive and no attention to the details. We were dining as part of a celebration and we were left with an awful aftertaste for Mirabelle!
Deeply saddened after the great anticipation for our first visit to Mirabelle. Our first visit has become our last!
Great dinner for our group! Several of our group we’re new to a French dinning experience and the staff was so kind in explaining the process to us!
Nice location. Overall a good experience. The service wasn’t so great.
Daniel was very attentive and made sure we experienced everything the restaurant has to offer. Between the two of us, we had the Parisian Gnocchi, Truffle Risotto (amazing!), and the Filet Mignon and everything was delicious! Definitely recommend Mirabelle for a special occasion.
Nice option for dinner or lunch near Lafayette Square
So bummed over this meal. We had an AMAZING meal there last month and loved it so much we cancelled our reservations at Plume to return and celebrate our 20th anniversary. The whole experience was a let down. Service was clumsy, slow and impersonal. Food was good, not great. Greasy, not well seasoned and just nothing special. The absence of an attentive waiter made it difficult to even address it properly with the kitchen. Drinks were definitely made by the B-team - Master Mixologist Zach was not in the house. We had hoped a quiet table and an acknowledgement of our special celebration (as noted in the res) would be appropriate. Alas, no mention and a table right in the middle of the restaurant with a group of overly loud diners ruining the ambience for all. Very, very disappointed.
We have been here twice before and loved it. The good this time was very disappointing, out of 6 dishes, only two were good. Usually the flavors are amazing, this time the flavor was simply “lots of salt.” I don’t know if we will return which is sad since we really enjoyed our first two visits.
We were blown away by how great this restaurant is: fabulous, creative food, wonderful service.
Great food and service. Upscale
The Negroni was amazing!
