This restaurant is new so we want to try it. The last place had great sushi, this place advertises sushi it was horrible. We sent a roll back because it was so fishy. Never asked can we get you something else. The have a list of whiskey and beers did not have have what was on the list, very disappointing. Will never go back

Unfortunately, our experience this past weekend was not the best (as much as we had high hopes as we had been frequent guests of E+O previously). Minta's menu seems to be much more limited than what E+O offered which was unexpected for such a nice, upscale restaurant. Additionally, our service was very, very slow - our waitress was not able to explain why certain menu items were not gluten free. Additionally, it took a very long time to prepare our food, and once it was ready, our entrees were not brought out simultaneously - my Mom had to wait an additional ten minutes for her sushi roll to be brought out, only to find out minutes later from the waitress that the wrong order was brought to her. Albeit, she did not charge us for the incorrect entree, and did eventually bring out the correct sushi roll, however after the long initial wait, this was just one more thing to add to the not-so-great experience.

Additionally, there was a private event taking place in the main dining area, whereby the music was extremely loud - so much so, we had to ask if the staff could close the door so that we could at least have a conversation with each other (as we literally could not hear each other over the loud music that was playing).

Overall, it seems that some training is needed for the staff which would improve things greatly. Additionally, the smaller, more-limited menu was disappointing unfortunately; hopefully the restaurant can expand upon this in the future.

I do not mean for this to be a complaint-filled review by any means - just wanted to provide constructive feedback as we truly enjoyed frequently visiting E+O in the past, and had high expectations for Minta, whereby we just don't feel Minta lived up to the previously set expectations. Hopefully after a few more months, the kinks will be worked out. Hope this feedback is useful in the meantime. Thank you.

Minta was great. The clam chowder was excellent, as was the pineapple-carrot cake.

We read the many bad reviews of Minta and we hesitated going at first. But we decided to be adventurous and give it a try. So glad we did.

The place looks great. Very modern, clean and comfortable seating, although we did ask to be moved because the seat my date sat in as a wooden bench outside.

So, the food. I read and heard from many people in the area that the food is “different”, and it is.... which is fine by us. I’d describe the food middle eastern Asian fusion. We didn’t go too far outside our comfort zone our first time there but maybe we’ll dive into the rolls and kabobs another time.

The service was excellent and extremely attentive. The part owner came around and asked how everything is as a good owner should. I had one small complaint about a pasta dish. They immediately apologized and offered a free dessert. Unnecessary but a nice jester.

Considering where Minta is, in a rather affluent Chicago suburb, I can see where some people might be a little uncomfortable with the overall feel of the place. It does have a Middle Eastern feel to it which is unusual out here in the burbs. Especially when you see a majority of the clientele smoking kookah’s. Which didn’t bother us at all. Made it more fun looking at the various types of hookah’s.

Minta wasn’t crowded at all which is too bad. I think one of the other issues is that it doesn’t seem to be very kid friendly. Which is important out here in the burbs. We were there on a Saturday night so didn’t expect to see too many kids but we’ve walked past many time and often see the place mostly or half empty.

I would say give Minta a try and have an open mind. The food was good, the service was excellent and the ambience was yes, a little different but it was a great experience for us.

When we came in on a Saturday night (7:00PM) there were hardly any people.
The menu is a hodgepodge of sushi and strange supposedly Eastern European dishes.
Absolutely nothing looked good enough to order.
We decided not to waste a beautiful Saturday night and left for another restaurant.
It is a shame that such a beautiful place with a wonderful outdoor seating is being wasted.

I was excited to go to this restaurant that has a mix of European and American cuisine but was so disappointed after ordering basic and my favorite arugula and beet salad.... It seems like chef didn't really care what to put in this salad to create a right taste . I called it "lazy" cooking. The salad was terrible. Never get back there again. Other food was the same. Over-dried or under-cooked....

Minta is so bad that at a recent visit we walked out after finishing our appetizers, so disappointed with the experience. Our first clue should have been the fact that the restaurant was well over half empty on a Saturday night. That being said, service was still some of the worst I've experienced in years. The inattentive service continued throughout our visit. Now, I can understand a little if there are not enough serving staff, but this was not the issue. There were plenty. Every step of the meal was marked by inattentive service. A good 10 minutes before even a drink order was taken. A good ten minutes after that for it to arrive. Never another ask for drinks. The menu, while maintaining a lot of the same format and dishes as E&O, came with a supplementary menu with Polish food items. Feeling adventurous, we ordered a couple of our favorites and tried the pierogis. Of course the wait was again untenable with food clearly on the warming table while servers seemed clueless or unwilling to actually see what was theirs (we saw our server on his cell phone). The favorites came and of course they were lukewarm at best. The pierogis, and I'm not exaggerating, had 2 of the 6 with missing fillings. Cutting our losses, we promptly left after that. Avoid.

Unfortunately when I arrived I was informed that the main dining room was being utilized for a private party so we had to sit in the bar area. To add to this the restrooms were in the main dining hall so both my date and I had to meander through the party to use the restroom passing the DJ and photographer for the event, it was embarrassing to say the least. The server had good recommendations and the food presented well and tasted good. So I will have to come back to give them another try.

We loved this restaurant. The Brussel sprout kale salad is the most amazing thing you will ever put in your mouth. We are never disappointed when we eat here. We leave full and happy and enjoy all of the various menu items. We celebrated my boyfriends birthday here two years in a row because we love it so much! Can’t go wrong with Minta!

Yes and no. We had no problem with the food and service. When we got there at 630pm the hostess seated us in the bar area and not the main dining room. Our table was next to the table where the staff was folding napkins. We were confused why we got seated out there and we felt so segrated with the rest of the restaurant. We had a reservation and when we got there it wasn’t busy at all. We noticed that when every time a new guest came In they were seated right away in the main dining room. We were dressed appropriately and we spent $125.00 for two people so we can afford the restaurant but the table we Have was unsatisfactory....

Service here is AWFUL!!! It was awful when it was E&O and it's still awful. We've been here twice since its reopening (gave them the benefit of the doubt by going a second time), and zero improvement. Food is ok but servers rarely return to refill drinks, we had our apps come out at the same time as our meals, had the veggie wrap but it was lacking both the avocado and feta, so really just a house salad in a tortilla.
We will not give them another chance, which is disappointing since we really want to support local businesses.

The food was fairly average. My eggs were over cooked (yes you can over cook eggs), my mother’s pasta was drenched In oil. Our waiter was pretty inattentive to our table, my little sister had to get up and walk near the kitchen to ask for syrup and ketchup. Very average experience probably won’t come here again.

Started with warm prosecco, followed by long waits for everything. Had to ask for more drinks and water. Server wouldn't make eye contact while continuing to walk around doing nothing. Appetizer sat in window for 10 minutes before delivery to our table. Forgot our child's broccoli. Steak temperature sticks were left on plates and still delivered to wrong people. Food was good but wait was ridiculous. Wanted to give them a break because of Mother's day but it wasn't even busy. No discount was offered. We will not return and likely this place will not make it. A restaurant cannot survive on good clam chowder.

It's with a heavy heart that I leave such a low-star review. Service was a nightmare; it took over 20 minutes for someone to even take drink orders and then they got my entree wrong and it took another 20 minutes to get that out after my husband and son's entrees were served. My son's french fries came 10 minutes after his grilled cheese sandwich. The kale and brussels sprouts salad was not the same as it was at E+O, they subbed jalapenos for the Fresno chiles, which made it bitter. The noodles on the paparadelle were super thick and chewy. The short ribs were overcooked and chewy instead of tender. We'd hoped for a comparable dining experience to E+O, but the kitchen was was understaffed and service was beyond clumsy. We won't be returning.
