MiNGO West Ratings and Reviews
Our server (I wish I could remember her name) was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, specials, and drinks. She was attentive but not overly attentive. My husband and I hope we can come for dinner again soon and have her as our server. The only reason I rated the food a 4-star is because my husband thought the halibut tasted a bit fishy and his squash was a bit too al dente. Everything else was top notch! Thank you for reaching out.
mingo west has become our go to place because of consistent delicious food and fun staff. Service is always super friendly, attentive and fast; staff are upbeat. The last two visits I ordered the ravioli pasta special and both times they were cooked perfectly and the sauce was superb.
Need more flexibility for special diets. The server indicated any changes or substitutions would not be tolerated. This was problematic for a member of our party who has special needs and does not eat gluten. The food tasted good, but the price was high for the portion provided.
When in Portland the bar is set pretty high for dining experience. Our server was terrific my water glass was never empty and I drink a lot of water! There were five in our party and two would not have had what they ordered again I think that is a bad sign. I will watch the substitute reviews but I think in this “foodie town” you can do better.
We have been coming here for many years but noise level is excessive. The quieter area is now used for private parties which makes conversation impossible.
Love their olive oil, bread, scallops, my husbands favorite best tiramisu anywhere and salads and entrees are great.
If you want authentic, top-notch Italian food, this is the place. It's a great place for a nicer lunch with a girlfriend. The service is respectful and nothing to complain about. However, I was very disappointing that no one seemed to care that we were celebrating my friend's birthday. It would have been nice if they had comped her dessert or drink at least. I mentioned that it was her birthday in the Open Table reservation, to the hostess and to the waiter. I will think twice about doing special occasions there again even though it is excellent food.
We have been to Mingo many times and always have had a great experience. This time we went and it was crowded, they had sold out of all of their pasta specials, and it took about 20 minutes after we were seated for the waitress to come take our drink order. We actually just had a drink and left. It seems like they were unprepared for a busy Saturday night.
Mingo is always very good. Tonight was even better. The cicchettis were perfect - sautéed prawns, fried green tomato, seared steak with red onion, vegetable frittata, chicken salad, and squash purée on cracker bread. Caprese salads were delicious, heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil and Mingo's wonderful olive oil. Finished with summer vegetable lasagne with tomato cream sauce that was fantastic, loaded with the best of the season. A lovely meal start to.finish.
