As close to authentic Brazilian food (not steakhouse) as possible. Live music in such a small place are a big issue if you want to have calm conversations. The food is tasteful, a bit more expensive than expected.

My wife is Brazilian and so we already know what to expect about Brazilian food and the flavors. Overall Minas did a good job. I got the bife acebolada which was a ribeye cut and my wife got the national dish of feijoada. The only issue i had with my dish was the ribeye was undercooked. A little to medium rare. Feijoada was excellent. The restaurant is small and tight but a good enviornment. A little strange with the entrance not having a host great you. Have to flag down a server. Overall a good Brazilian comfort food spot.

We traveled from Mountain View to San Francisco. The traffic was awful and we had difficulties to find a place to park. We got there almost 1 hour late. They were closed our table 30 minutes before. I have 2 kids. We stood for an hour, and beside us had an empty table. They did not even let the kids sit down to rest. Finally they moved some friends to the empty table and put us in the place where they were seated.

Terrible terrible service. Made me wait 1 hour (not exagerating) for a salad without warning me before that I would have to wait that long for the "Special preparation" of the chicken, which ended up being the most plain chicken over salad which I have ever tasted. I was with a friend so they brought out her hot food 45 minutes before they brought out my salad-- both of which our main courses. Did not even offer some small appetizer or beverage or discount off the receipt for the inconvenience of causing the wait. The food here is very special but the service is extremely lacking and makes me not surprised that they are going out of business. Very disappointing over all

Mina’s Brazilian, and Canto Do Brasil before it, has been. San Francisco mainstay for several years. It is with profound sadness that yesterday, I ate my final meal there knowing it will be closing forever on November 2. I’m still in a state of disbelief. This isn’t your typical Brazilian steakhouse, this is pure Brazilian food. There is no other reataurant like it around here and it will be sorely missed.

Sevice was really poor. Did pay any attention to us after seating to see if we were ready to order. We ordered appetizer, salad, entree. Big delay, then everything arrived at the same time with the entree first, followed almost immediately by the salad, and then, finally, the appetizer. To make matters worse, there wasn't enough room on the table for all of them at once so we had to steal a chair from an adjacent table to contain one of the dishes. Food was OK but not memorable. Would not go to this restaurant again and would definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Food is excellent but they can't handle the business that they have. We made a reservation at 6:30 so as to eat before the performance. The food got to the table at 7:30, too late to eat any more than a few bites. Waitresses were attentive and working like crazy but they can't resolve the fundamental problem.

First of all, I am not getting open table points for this restaurant, so i am not sure why i am asked for a review. I don't know if it is the responsibility of open table or the restaurant. the first time i ate here we had a phenomenal waitress. This time we had several persons waiting on us and the services was sporadic. The food was very good but not outstanding. The beef tenderloin was chewy and salty but the fries were perfect. the fried calamari and meatballs were delish.

The food and ambience were good. The restaurant is cozy, made more so by the music, decor, and color of paints. Our servers appeared at appropriate times and brought the food hot and tasty. I would definitely recommend it, particularly if you're planning on going to the SF Jazz Center after dinner, which is a block away from the restaurant.

If you know anything about the foods of Brazil, you will appreciate this restaurant that shares the traditional fare not found in the abundance of Brazilian steakhouses that have opened. This is how Brazilians eat, and each of the dishes we sampled we excellent.

Before the Sally Field event at The Nourse Theatre, my husband and I went to Mina's; we noted that on a Friday night, even for early dinner, it was good we had a reservation. Although the restaurant was not at all crowded when we arrived, by the time we were eating our meal, it had filled up and soon had people waiting. We started with cocktails, a Brazilian mule for him and a pineapple caipirinha for me. Even before they arrived, the always smiling staff brought the complementary bread with pate, a nice--and tasty--touch. We both enjoyed our strong drinks, and it wasn't long before our mains arrived: ribs for me and salmon for him. The rib meat was falling off the bone, no need for scraping off any last protein, and the sauce was quite sweet, as was the accompanying mashed sweet potatoes. My husband commented that the tiny red peppers atop the sweet potato were actually spicy (he had some in his dish), so I began incorporating bites of the sweetness with a hot pepper to add some acidity to balance off the sweetness. My husband found that his salmon was a bit undercooked for his taste, but he enjoyed it , the vegetables, and the rice well enough. We hadn't ordered appetizers so that we could try the desserts (and have time to order and eat them), and they were the stars of the meal. He quite enjoyed the coconut flan and the "Pavê de Goiabada e Dolce de Leite--Layers of ladyfinger biscuits, sweet guava paste, and doce de leite, topped with whipped cream." The "Pave" was huge, so we split that; my husband finished his flan on his own. Throughout the staff were observant and attentive: our water glasses were quickly refilled when it seemed they were getting low. The noise level rose as the room filled, but that's only to be expected. The service was quick enough to manage a meal and some conversation before the walk to The Nourse for our event. It's one of the restaurants in my rotation for events at The Nourse: the food and price point are decent.

Mina’s is sooo good. I usually order the fish stew, which is delicious, but I tried something different. I got the chicken in dark beer and I was blown away!
