Always looking for a good Japanese restaurant in Toronto. The menu here is inventive. I would return for the food despite the extremely mediocre service. The main waitress was extremely inattentive and really contributed to a detraction of the experience. The service was saved by the young man on the reception desk who was working the tables in between welcoming guests. The space is the former Greek restaurant that was a staple in the entertainment district forever. The Japanese restaurant is a refreshing rework of the space. Making reservations was easy.

Admittedly, we had a much larger group of guests than we'd initially prepared for and the team did their best with what was available. Spring is a challenging time of year for predicting dining habits because of the weather and various concerts providing a lot of variability. Thank you for your patience and kindness towards our menu. We appreciate you dining us and mentioning Penelope's. We keep a calamari on the menu in tribute to our predecessor. I had the lunch set with salmon and my husband had the lunch set with beef sukiyaki. Both of us are happy with the food and presentation.
