About Mimmo's Italian Restaurant
The foundation of good Italian cooking is the freshest of ingredients prepared with simplicity, bringing together flavors so no one ingredient overpowers another. Mimmo’s Italian roots begin in his hometown of Bagheria, Sicily. The fresh fruits and vegetables picked from his family’s farm were on the table, or tavola, that night. Our logo of the lemon and lemon flower, or zagara, is a symbol of Sicily’s rich history of growing and exporting lemons, and a reminder of Mimmo’s many memories of lemon picking in his grandfather’s groves.

Mimmo's Italian Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Two weeks ago my wife and I had the best Italian meal we have had in the desert at Mimmo's so we decided to bring some friends to join us for another anticipated great meal. Boy were we disappointed. We ordered the same meal and it was nothing like the one we had two weeks ago. Last time the Veal Scaloppine Sicula was crisp and amazingly flavorful. Our mouths were watering as we ordered it again this time. When it came it had a runny, creamy, white cream of wheat tasting polenta which we promptly took off our plate. The veal and eggplant with parmesan was not crispy and had on tenth the flavor of the previous week. They must have different chefs on different nights. Our friends had the Veal Piccata and they too said it was not nearly as good as they expected. The only thing that was good was the bread and pesto at the beginning and the cheese cake at the end. Two weeks ago we thought we found our go to place for good Italian food. Now we are very reluctant to return.
We have been to Mimmo's on many occasions and find the food, service and value consistently good. The owners are always gracious and friendly and the servers are efficient and knowledgeable. The menu has great variety with something for everyone. The crab ravioli was nicely prepared with a abundant portion of crab meat filling. The shrimp diavalo was nicely spiced though the portion of shrimp was relatively small. All in all, a sure fire place for authentic Italian fare.
We were excited to try Mimmo’s, we had a reservation and upon arrival were greeted by a grump man who put us out on the patio even though all the table inside were open. We asked a server if we could move inside and he did move us. The best part was our waitress. She was very nice and took good care of us. I had the pollo Parmesan and it had very little flavor. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and said his also lacked flavor. We will not be returning.
Using Open Table was very easy to use and I was sent a reminder. We were greeted immediately and was seated in the patio. Nice ambiance, I liked the way the dining room was designed into different rooms, quaint.. Staff was very attentive and our server, Claude, was very good and knowledgeable of the menu. Claude even read my comments on the reservation and knew there was a birthday and that I wanted a tiramisu for her birthday cake!! The menu had a wide selection to choose from. Food was excellent! We went for our friend's birthday and she loved it. She wants to bring her husband there and so do I!
In a word: Outstanding. We had driven by Mimmo's for years and never managed to remember it when going out for Italian. What a mistake. It's Mama Gina's without the expensive location. It's Castelli's without the pretense. Great service. Tremendous food well prepared and presented. The manager/owner spent a few minutes chatting with us. This is our new "go to" for Italian in Palm Desert.
So happy to have Mimmo's open again for the season. We always enjoy the home-made pasta dishes, as well as chicken and veal entrees. Highly recommend the tiramisu if you are a fan. Our server was terrific, and everyone is very welcoming. One of our favorites in the desert!
We hadn't been to Mimmo's in awhile and decided to try it again. we remember they had excellent veal and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was very pleasant and accommodating. John loves spumoni and they have a lovely version of it here, so he was quite happy. Mimmo's will be closed for the summer but we are looking forward to returning in Sept when my sister visits.
