Mimmo's Italian Restaurant
The food and the service were very good. If ever in the area again I would return.
Owner greeted us in person. We love this place! Food and service was outstanding. Great daily specials. We will be coming back and thanks for making Shrimp Fra Diavolo for my wife.
Excellent, authentic Southern Italian (Sicilian) food. Everything we had, from the appetizers, main course, and wine were spot on. We come every year during the Indian Wells tennis tournament, this is always a must stop for us.
Our waiter Todd made our dining experience a wonderful experience not to mention the great food! Every staff member in the place was very friendly and welcoming!
Excellent food and service. Had a reservation and was able to get seated as soon as we arrived.
I have been to Mimmo's a number of times and it is consistently welcoming, serving fresh, tastefully prepared food, in a clean, attentive atmosphere. It is my go to place with visitors because I can always count on an enjoyable dinner with the time of a reservation being honored and never feeling rushed.
I had the spaghetti with meatballs and it was, at best, mediocre. The pasta was starchy, the presentation was just a bunch of pasta with 4 meatballs. The other 3 in my party have decided that, although the place was fine, they wouldn’t go back for the food.
I ordered a special, the Carbonara .
A few pieces of meat , mostly peas and very dry. The table rocked and spilled my expensive martini. When I asked for a replacement the server ignored my request. Our table was right next to the kitchen doorway. Commotion and dropping dishes and we could hear negative words being exchanged between the help. Not happy, we would never return.
Food was delicious and so fresh..our server couldn’t have been more attentive Great evening
Excellent food and generous portions, accompanied by attentive, warm service.
Mimmo's was outstanding. We were attending the BNP Paribas tournament and had a chance to meet a special friend for dinner, and we wanted good food and a nice place. Having seen the reviews and enjoying Italian food we selected Mimmo's. When you arrive the outside is in a small strip mall and not the most attractive of locations, i.e. Tattoo parlor, out of business diner, and Mimmo's. They have a enclosed patio area you first enter which is ok looking but not attractive, but they seemed to put families with young children and very casually dressed people seated here. Entering the main restaurant was very attractive and the spacing between tables was reasonable. We were seated promptly. The waiter came over and introduced himself, then arranged water and bread. We were given a relaxed time to order, and we ordered a fine wine from their list at a very reasonable price. I ordered the Italian sausage appetizer which was very good, and I had their special salad of Buffalo Mozzarella, onion, tomato and basil, very much a Caprice salad except for the Buffalo mozzarella. It was a nice change and good. My wife and our friend had the spaghetti and meatballs and both enjoyed it very much. I was very pleased with the parmesan as it was among the best I have had, and it was served with vegetables that were quite good. I requested a side of spaghetti and they were very accommodating the sauce was excellent. A cannoli was ordered for desert and it was good. Our waiter was excellent, he allowed us time to chat, did not pressure us, answered all questions, accommodated requests, and was very helpful and timely. In all it was a very enjoyable experience, it was not overly priced, and the room was full, so they must attract a number of customers. To clarify an earlier comment, as far as dress Open Table says smart casual. I called ahead and ended up wearing a polo shirt, dress shorts, and decent shoes which was allowed. Thumbs up!
Well now I know why Mimmo’s is the favorite Italian restaurant of so many of our friends. Service was top rated as was the food. Very delightful evening!! Felt like I was dining in Italy😁
First time there. Sat at 745 pm. Food was terrific but service very slow. They had given our waiter a table in another room and seemed to be difficult. He was literally running.
But very nice and we were seated quickly .
The petrale sole was very good. My veal scalapini w/ eggplant, tomato sauce and mozzarella was fair. The bread they bring to the table is awful (just like the bead all over Italy. The Caesar salad was very good.
Reasonably priced but didn't know how to cook certain Italian food i.e. Pesto, etc.
We had higher expectations for the food but were disappointed. The bread was like a biscotti, a little bit sweet. The osso bucco was too tomatoey and the chicken parm was thick and dry. It didn't come with a pasta side like you'd expect, if you want a pasta it's $4.90 extra. The choices for a side were either vegetables or potatoes. However, the pasta special was good and the ambiance was good. It was very busy for a Thurs, even at 8 pm.
Mimmo's was very OK. I did enjoy the sides of carrots and potato more than the main course of veal.
Great food! Everyone loved their dishes! One had steak & broccoli, one had the seafood
pasta, one had the sand dabs & one had the spaghetti and meatballs. All were hot, nicely
Service was slow this night, perhaps it’s because we sat out on the enclosed patio .
Solid. Nothing special but very solid.
First time at this restaurant. Was good service and food. A little too heavy on the sauces for me. Also thought wine by the glass was pretty pricey. Otherwise a good experience.
Mimmo's Italian Restaurant is one of several excellent, old-style Italian restaurants in the the greater Palm Springs area, including Il Corso and Mama Gina's. Of the three, it is my choice of establishments. The quality, preparation and presentation of the food in the three is equivalent. I prefer Mimmo's for service, warmth and overall ambiance. The waiters are deeply knowledgeable of the cuisine and listen to one's preferences, important because the kitchen offers several specials in each of the courses every night, which fact prevents becoming bored with the offerings. Service is proper but friendly and unfussy. Many Italian restaurants boast of their oso bucco. Mimmo's is the best I've ever had. The kitchen also prepares wonderful octopus. The full bar issues properly made cocktails. The wine list is solid but not distinguished. Corkage is $20.00 and the table receives glasses appropriate to one's wine, a very nice touch.
Good food ! Service was rushed - but overall the experience was great.
We were very pleased finding and dining at this restaurant. It fills up early and quickly. Loved the osso bucco. It was so tender, it fell off the bone. My friends enjoyed their dishes too, chicken parmigiana and rigatoni special dish. We will dine here again.
We found the food to be only average for Italian fare. Our waiter was in such a rush he redid our bill 3 times due to not listening. The noise level when the room was full made conversation somewhat difficult.
From a drink at the cozy bar on through to the homemade lemon sorbet, everything was delicious!
Really love the food at this Italian restaurant in Palm Desert. Never fails to deliver food that is exceptional. With many "specials" that are out of the ordinary. Get Thee to Mimmo's and sample real Italian fare.
We visit this restaurant every year. Truly an amazing experience. Highly recommend it for the food and service. Might be the best Italian restaurant in Palm Desert; we haven't found one we like better.
Everything was wonderful; food could have been a bit more flavorful.
We came twice. Was great both times.
This was our first and last visit.
Food was average - service was unsatisfactory. We were the first customers seated and our order took 50 minutes! When we asked after 30 minutes, we were told the osso buco had to be heated thoroughly - seriously?
When the food finally arrived, the waiter stopped by and asked how it was? We told him it was OK but 50 minutes was too long. He got angry and walked off - no apology for delay - nothing
We will not go back
La nourriture est toujours la meilleure cuisine italienne du desert.
Le service est un peu rapide, Donc difficile de relaxer et d’apprécier une aussi bonne bouffe. Le propriétaire est très accueillant.
Je recommande sans aucun doute.
Found this place on my last visit to Palm Desert and now it is one of the reason I want to come back. The food is amazing, service is spectacular, and the entire dining experience is ver special.
We always enjoy our visit to Mimmo's. The food is always excellent! My husband had the vodka penne and I had the veal piccada, both fantastic. We also had the Caesar salad that we shared.....very, very good.
For desert we had the cannoli and it was good.....the shell was a little on the hard side, but still tasty.
Overall, a very enjoyable dinner and the service was excellent.
We will be back......it is now our favorite Italian restaurant.
Great food in a simple friendly atmosphere.
We thanked our good friends for recommending this place to us ....could not have turned out better.
Valentine's dinner was very good with many interesting specials.
This chef knows how to cook. Well prepared southern Italian cuisine prepared with excellent ingredients. The waiters are a bit rushed and the people busing the tables seemed frantic at times, but the place has a pleasant casual, neighborhood feel to it so it is easily excused. Recommended. Will see us again.
Good news:the Bronzino was excellent.
Bad: the ingredients in the Mediterranean salad were not fresh. The risotto was boring - how is it possible to make anything that features porcini mushrooms boring?
The service was excellent.
The food was excellent our waiter Todd was courteous & knowledgeable the special caprese salad was the best I’ve ever had
