Mimmo's Italian Restaurant
Great meal! In Palm Desert for vacation and SO GLAD we found Mimmo’s.
Very nice Italian restaurant. We tried their octopus salad which was excellent- very tender. The linguine Congolese was very tasty with lots of clams and their gnocchi is homemade and excellent. In the past we’ve also had their veal dishes which are the best in the area. Service is friendly and attentive. Recommend this spot for sure.
Excellent dinner. I don't know about the rest of the menu, but our Sand Dabs and the nightly special on the veal ravioli with Marscarpone Cream sauce was great. The special on the Caprese salad with Buffala and outstanding Balsamic was really great. The bread however...... not quite the crunchy crust my wife and I appreciate at an Italian restaurant. Thanks
Always a wonderful time with high quality fresh ingredients
Fantastic food and excellent staff!
Bruschetta as starter was very good. Nice balance between tomato, olive oil and seasoning. Saltimboca main course was very good as well. Lasagne however tasted rather basic. Did not really get what happened in the 20min extra prep time other than dumping mariana sauce and parmesan on a premade piece of lasagne that was missing meat between its sheets. Would not recommend if you know what a good lasagne is supposed to taste.
Service was very attentative overall, however we had an issue with the diet cokes we ordered. As they tasted totally watery, we complained to the waitress who apologized but could not offer a better tasting diet coke as the fountain was broken and a replacement would have come out of the same non-tasting bottle. Still we were surprised that the diet cokes were not taken off the bill. Unacceptable.
Delicious homemade pasta! Everything we tried was so good. Homemade sausage, lasagna, meatballs, the specials...were all so good. For sure will be going back.
Took friends that had never been there and they loved it as much as us!
Mimmos is always delicious. Best martinis and spectacular food.
Sorry just very disappointing both times we have been here. The tomato burrata salad was amazing, everything else (lasagna, spaghetti and bread were all boring)
Excellent all around!
What a difference a waiter makes! My partner and I are regulars with a standing weekly reservation at Mimmo's. On this occasion, we hosted another couple, anticipating our usual luxurious evening. Our regular waiter, Claude, was not on duty that evening so we were served by the person available. Service was just a bit awkward but acceptable until we had the following exchange. One of our guests ordered Prosecco, which was served from a demi-bottle. While clearing our appetizers, the waiter tipped the bottle over spilling its contents. He quickly wiped up the spill and went on his way. A bit later when asked about the Prosecco, he said none was open and that making the spilled contents good would "have to come from his own pocket." He dithered, I was taken aback at his response, as were our guests. A bit later he returned to say grudgingly he would bring another bottle. The incident left us all feeling the evening was less pleasant than it might have been. All of that said, the dishes we ordered were, as always, excellently prepared and the ambience comfortable and pleasant.
Always a treat to introduce friends to Mimmo's. Everything was great.
Best spaghetti bolognese on the planet!
Very friendly service - accommodating, knowledgeable and all around very gracious. Like some of the other reviewers, I was put off at first by the "strip mall" feeling but the character inside was super friendly I forgot all about what I felt in the parking lot. Don't judge a book by it's cover... Veal ravioli was flavorful, seasonal butternut squash gnocchi was wonderful, great wines by the glass. When we mentioned our friend had a previous poor experience with limoncello, our server brought a glass of the housemade limoncello. I encourage you not to miss that...
Food was good ... had good flavor but the portion was way too small.... we went to go get hamburger
I already have recommended mimmos to a young couple who came for their anniversary. Our family has been here probably five times and we just moved in December and I do not live out here full-time. Literally our favorite spot.
Good. Nice staff and food. A bit noisy but not very bad. Pasta marinara was delicious.
Every thing was great. The food was good and the price was fair. Service was excellent.
Not up to their usual standards. We were disappointed.
It’s location and exterior are humble, but once inside you experience fine dining ambience, service, and cuisine. Great value too!
The food is absolutely the best Italian I’ve had. Homemade. Delicious. They make their own noodles for specials and take requests for alterations. Extremely accommodating with special requests. Staff is very attentive but only friendly when you engage. We are new to this area and it is our go to for excellent food, service and quiet atmosphere.
Birthday dinner. They took great care of us. A very friendly place -when the server brought a complimentary dessert with candle the other guests all sang happy birthday. Super food and a fun evening.
We visited Mimmo's for the 1st time on a Monday. The restaurant was full, but because there are separate rooms it wasn't loud and we could talk and enjoy ourselves without yelling. The food was excellent and the cheesecake which is made there from a family recipe was special. We look forward to visiting again when we return to Palm Desert.
Best Italian food ever
Very quiet night for the restaurant! It was Restaurant week but they didn’t participate. We’ve been there a couple of times before and find the food good and reasonable, and always top notch service.
The food was very good.
Great authentic Italian meal...to be shared amongst the family. Try the Chicken parmigiana, pesto gnocchi with chicken, chicken cacciatore, with the Toscana salad.
We will be back!!
Asked 3 times for the garlic bread we ordered. When we finally asked the waiter to cancel the order, he said no and brought it out after we had finished 3/4 if our meal. And he included it on the check! One would think he would have comped it. Fiid was very good, but service was lacking.
Really enjoyed this restaurant! The food was delish! We had an amazing server Luigi.. so sweet! Everything tasted super fresh, we will definitely be back!
Will definitely return to this family owned restaurant. Our first meal was fabulous and the service was friendly, efficient & knowledgeable about the menu. A great new find in the Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert area.
Average Italian food for the price very noisy inside. No music or vibe inside. Not bad but nothing great either
It was very nice authentic Italian tomato sauce. The meatballs were a bit too spicy but overall good. The veal Parmesan chop was fabulous. Also the Cesar salad was very good I haven’t tasted anchovy’s in a long time. Overall no shortcuts and a true Italian meal. We will be back.
Food and service were terrific! Portions were adequate but no leftovers.
Mimmo's never disappoints. Great food in a cozy setting. Good for "date night".
this has been a favorite of ours, but the food has gone down hill.
We were visiting Palm Springs area for a conference, looking for a local establishment for dinner. Mimmos had good reviews, so we tried it. The outside is deceptive; the inside is cozy, the staff is very welcoming, the service was exemplary, and the food was great! The house made sausage appetizer was wonderful, and the special burratta salad was fresh and so tasty. The veal Parmesan was bone-in and pounded tender. Linguine with red clam sauce and sea bass special were both very good. But, probably the best part was the service. The waiter was very friendly, and explained all of the specials and homemade items. The bread, drinks, and first courses showed up quickly. Water was refilled regularly, and dishes were cleared by two people in record time. Silverware was replaced with each course. White table clothes were a plus. If your in the Palm Springs area, give Mimmos a try.
Love the food here but our waiter who has been here for as long as we can remember was so not interested in us. Thank goodness for the rest of the staff. Wife wanted a glass of house wine and all he wanted to do was push for an upgrade. Rambled through the specials like he could care less. Thank goodness the food is 5 stars
Had great expectations based on communications from Lalo prior to our visit. When we arrived (as new customers) no real greeting, just seated. Then, our waiter proceeded to tell us "what we couldn't have" - no substituting pasta for the potatoes with the chicken parm. Our frustration continued when we were told the kitchen didn't have any fettucine pasta! When the entres arrived, squid ink pappardelle with seafood and creme sauce was superb. Shrimp diavolo were tender, with a tantalizingly spicey marinara. Meatballs with spaghetti were too hard, though tasty.
Never once did Lalo or any floor manager check our table to see how we were enjoying our first visit.
If you want Mimmo's food badly enough to endure being ignored, the prices are mid-range. But, there are many other italian restaurants in the CV who will show you more attention and appreciation.
Perfect sea bass, really good veal piccata (which is why we went), terrific cannolis and creme brûlée, and a wonderful Mother's Day special of squid ink pasta with seafood. Overall, it was our second nice outing at Mimmo's. I like the old world service and the fact it is a little less fancy and expensive than nearby competitors.
