18th birthday
The restaurant has made no provision for COVID at all. Staff wore masks under their noses and the tables were unbelievably close. The place was very busy and it took 90 minutes before our starter and main courses arrived and they arrived separately. When they arrived the griilled fish was dried out. Overall not a good evening and unlikely to go back.
lovely place, great find, best pizza in London, good and reasonable wine list
Great service and food. Enjoyed it very very much!
Amazing service, food- exquisite! Would definitely recommend and definitely revisiting.
It has been a few years since I have had the chance to revisit and I swear it was better this visit. Attentive and professional service (thank you), well planned for covid dining, & good menu options. All our dishes were tasty, but for me my seafood paccheri was divine and had me smiling hours later. Happily I discovered I can order from Mimmo La Bufala on Deliveroo so now to try their Tagliolini Mimo and Lasagna :)
Excellent food. Kids really liked the pizzas. My pasta was a little too salty but still very good
Excellent menu, plenty of choice, good wine list too.
Very overcrowded and cramped with tables very close to each other. Had to end up in the area behind pizza oven, which was extremely hot and noisy as waiters congregated there. Music was too loud with regular playing of the same advert for Nexum indigestion tablets - not the most reassuring message to hear from a restaurant. The food was good and the pricing is fair.
Good food, pleasant atmosphere but service a little slow.
Great food, service and ambience. Highly recommend the papardelle with prawns and mushrooms!
Decent food - swordfish slightly overcooked, but romanesco sauce really good. Loud and rather crowded inside, oh and very hot inside for an October evening...couldn't wait to leave and find a pub!
We attended one of our favourite restaurants in North London and as usual the food and setting was spectacular. The service is attentive and friendly without being intrusive. They are informative- for example I wasn't sure whether to go for the tagliata steak dish or seabass. The waiter took the time to speak to the chef and came back with the seabass recommendation. Please see below for photos.
The only spoiler was that we arrived at 8.30pm and by the time our bottle and first course arrived it was already 9. 25pm. We were half way through our meal when a stressed out employee plonked the bill down and told us that we had to get out as it was 10pm (in accordance to government guidelines).
We felt rushed and this was disappointing as it had be a spectacular evening up until this point.
I would urge the restaurant to consider a cut off point when booking tables so this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Otherwise a simply brilliant evening and I can't recommend this place enough.
Great food
Hands down the best pizza I have had in London!! Will definitely be revisiting the restaurant for more margarita dop
Did not feel Covid secure at all. We were out on a small table in a crowded restaurant next to an extremely loud group of six who did not wear masks when walking around. Could not hear eachother speak. Did not close at 10pm.
Absolutely lovely food but unfortunately let down by very bad service. Our waiter initially served us incorrect drinks which took a further 40 mins to rectify. This should have been rectified immediately. We ordered our food which took over 1hr45 to arrive. We also saw other diners complaining about the long wait for the food. We kept trying to flag down the waiter to ask for more drinks/to ask how long the food would be but he kept ignoring us. It took us a further 30 mins to grab someone’s attention by which point we were very thirsty and hungry. Very good food but personally the whole experience was ruined for us as we literally spent the whole meal trying to get the attention of the waiter. My advice, get takeaway but don’t dine in.
We came for two courses for a friend's birthday, the starters were nice and arrived promptly. However, our starter plates took an hour to be cleared and the mains took long over an hour to arrive. This was done once we reminded them (twice) to check on our mains. Once we complained again, after our recieving our mains two hours after sitting down, we were told that in Italian culture, this is how food is served. Unfortunately, I do not believe this is the case. While the dining experience may be different in Italy, I don't believe any Italian person would wait for over an hour between courses.
A final note will add that the restaurant was far too busy to be abiding by social distancing rules. It was at full capacity with tables far less than a metre apart which made us feel uncomfortable, especially considering how long we waited.
Overall the experience was extremely disappointing, but it's possible that we caught them on the wrong day... Nevertheless, we're unlikely to return, mostly owing to the fact that our complaint was met with such insolence.
Amazing food a great service. Maybe location need improvement but I would definitely come back! And I’m saying this as Italian!
We went to the restaurant to find it closed.
Great food and fantastic service.
Party of four all enjoyed.
The food was very good. The service was a bit slow and it wasn’t particularly busy on the day.
Lovely except for the endless stream of ‘alien’ delivery people coming in and out
Great food, service and atmosphere. Defo returning.
This used to be such a lovely restaurant, but its standards have asked. Unfortunately the food was average and not particularly tasty, some of the vegetables were cold and the service was hit and miss.
Unfortunately restaurant was not participating in the eat out government initiative - probably the reason we were able to get a booking here and no where else. Starter was not great ( crab patty ) but the seafood linguine special was lovely ( asked for shells off which was accommodated ). Total for 1 starter 2 mains 1 glass of wine and a tonic water plus service £77... so I think quite expensive but it was our fault not checking they were part of the deal and you are opposite the heath which I guess hikes the price
Excellent and delicious fresh food. Great service.
This is my favourite restaurant in London and one of the best pizza I've ever had - and I grew up in the South of Italy. The food is always top level and the service impeccable. When present in the restaurant, Mimmo's personality adds an extra level to an always fantastic experience.
Had run out of the main course that I wanted (spaghetti vongole) which was disappointing (and we ate reasonably early). Service was a little erratic - brought an extra starter (we changed our mind whilst ordering because the vongole was not available but the waiter brought three starters instead of the two we ordered). The food was fine but not special. Nice selection of wine. Had table son the pavement which was very nice given the warm evening. Inside seemed to be a good vibe
Nice staff, but difficult to communicate as the server we had only spoke Italian, but I suppose people may be impressed by that.
Great food. Isn’t that all that matters?
We went as a family of four with a very tiny 2 year old and they were absolutely delightful to be served by, they accommodated for everything we needed they were polite and service was impeccable! Not to mention the food was absolutely amazing, one of the best Italians we have ever had. Thank you we will be back but without the children next time to thoroughly enjoy it.
A wonderful find, Mimmo La Bufala is an authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Hampstead. The decor oozes 60’s Italian film glamour and the friendly staff make every effort to ensure your visit is a memorable one.
The menu features Italian favourites, I tried the classic spaghetti and meatballs which were divine, as well as more luxurious fare. Our friend tried the tagliatelle with truffle shavings and sirloin steak which was exceptional.
The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, despite the extra covid measures, and we really enjoyed our evening here. This is the sort of place you could easily spend hours chatting over a glass of wine, spurred on to order one more dish by the passionate waiters.
Incredible food. Poor waiter rushed of his feet but he coped really well. We love this local Italian food! Thank you
Waiters very agitated and nervous. They argued (heavily and continuosly) with the cooks and we had to wait almost 1 hour for a pasta dish and a tagliata (barely 10 small slices of meat for almost £30), been served cold and raw (asked for medium rare cook). Overall, very expensive and it is not worth for the quality/quantity of the food.
Slow service, the food was nowhere close in taste to what we’ve had before.
A letdown, the kind of experience that makes you not sure about coming again...
Great food, really welcoming. Proper Italian who understand value of service and ingredients.
Amazing food, we ate there twice already and planning the third time this week. Service is very good, everyone is very friendly. They have a few outdoor tables and even though the restaurant looks small from outside it is very spacious inside.
We tried pizza, different pastas and fish - all very tasty. Desserts are great too - everything except for (surprisingly) tiramisu, it was average.
definitely recommending this place and definitely going back.
Amazing atmosphere and the food is even more amazing!
We will definitely be going back
Really lovely food and service. Lots of precautions given for COVID-19 which was very reassuring but delicious food and would definitely go again
Food was delicious and great value for money. Good service too
