Mimmo La Bufala
Have been visiting Mimmo La Bufala for several years now and the standards are always excellent. The pizzas are phenomenal (better than I have had in Italy...by the way, I'm italian...) and the rest of the food is well prepared and ticks all the flavour boxes. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant and if you are lucky enough, you can enjoy a fun and interesting chat with Mimmo the owner (when he's not indulging in Italy or other wonderful parts to the world). We live around 1 hr away and we have no reservations in making the trip to savour the best pizzas I have ever had. The Cornetto di bufala is incredible (I'm salivating just thinking about it...).
Attentive and speedy service. Any additional request was catered for and flexibility is great. Food was enjoyed by everyone. We attended with a group of 11.
Busy and welcoming place, personable service and wide selection of Italian dishes
Always a wonderful meal with fabulous service that can’t be beaten
I found half eaten olive in my tiramisu desert. This disgusting discovery was made when I put a spoonful of creamy desert in my mouth - I cracked a tooth on the olive pit and spat it out. Imagine the horror and disgust when I realized what it was! Somebody else's discarded food remains ended up in my desert and in my mouth. The restaurant did not address this in any shape or form, only took the charge for the offending desert off the bill and then over-charged me for the drinks I did not order or have. I am absolutely appalled by the unhygienic incident and by the way the restaurant handled the entire situation. I will be filing a complaint with the appropriate hygiene licensing agency. I am never coming back to this establishment.
Went on Tuesday night for birthday celebrations with a friend. The staff looked after us really well and even sang "Happy Birthday" . We had fish of the day which was sea bass gently poached with cherry tomatoes, wine, herbs and garlic with roast potatoes and broccoli and Ossobuco both of which were delicious. We followed this with traditional deserts and two very good cups of coffee.
I thought that I'd found a local gem. Although it could be a diamond, our experience was that it is very much in the rough!
Two of our guests were vegetarians, so a quick look through the extensive menu revealed lots of vegetarian options. To be fair, the pizza and pasta dishes were fine. However, I ordered the Tuna (medium) - what arrived was tough and inedible. Whether it was the fish itself or the way it was cooked, I have never had such a bad experience.
We also ordered some fried zucchini and one of our guests mentioned that they tasted a bit fishy - like they had been fried at the same time as some fish. The reality was worse than that, the dish not only contained zucchini but several fried whitebait mixed in. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she just mumbled an apology and took the dish away.
Needless to say, we won't be going back there again, which is a shame, as it has the potential to be an amazing local Italian restaurant. Maybe their menu is just too extensive and they would be better off cooking fewer dishes really well.
Great food and fab service
Friendly staff and food was not bad but pricey for what was served. There are many similar Italian restaurants in London for half the price!
I had a great time for Mother's day with my family. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was of a high quality, with a great selection of wines on offer.
I would recommend it to anyone in the North London/Hampstead area
First time here, a great spot for lazy tasty lunch
We arrived to find our table was not ready despite having booked. Eventually given a table which was dirty and not laid up. Had to ask several times for various things like a menu, wine list, drinks. Service was poor due to a shortage of staff and the staff that were on duty were very stressed. However the food when it arrived was hot, well cooked, fresh and very tasty. Good size portions and the wine suggested by the waitress was excellent without breaking the bank. Would we return? Well yes we will give it another chance but the service has to be stepped up a great deal both prior to diners arriving so the table is ready for them and also during the meal nothing is more frustrating than having to keep trying to catch a waitress’ eye because you need something.
Food was very bad:
- £12 for 3 small scallops that were not cooked,
- gnocchi were so cooked that it was a gnocchi mash without much taste... probably a reheating from 2 days ago.
- swordfish was .... tuna :-)
If I could transport myself back in time to the late 1980’s, this is exactly the restaurant that I would expect to find. The decor, the food presentation, the service, it’s all 1989 advertising lunches. I could imagine a young David Cameron feeling perfectly at home here. It’s saving grace is that the flavours are really super. Lovely tasty food.
Absolutely loved the warmth of the servers. They were helpful, happy and sweet. Would love to come back!
One of my favourite restaurants in London, wonderful all around.
We ate earlyish on a Friday night, and I have report that everything was terrific. The food was really delicious, and the service was timely and attentive. It was filling up as we left, so clearly a hit with the locals. We will definitely go again
We enjoyed our first visit to Mimmo's although my wife's swordfish wasn't cooked well enough.
But we were not charged for it.
Just opposite Hampstead Heath overground station. A lovely family-run Italian restaurant, serving generous portions of delicious food, and with attentive service. Will return for more.
Exquisite food, very professional service!
Wonderful service, great advice on the menu, fantastic quality food and great wines. It's a busy restaurant but the staff are careful to look after you. Good selection of traditional classics, well prepared and nice quality, and the wine list is well priced and provides a good range. Will definitely return again.
Very authentic Italian food
Friendly and great pizza and pasta - lovely New Year lunch with family.
Absolute disgrace, we had dinner reservation for 9pm on New Year’s Eve and were waiting 40 minutes with other 30 people for table at the same time! No one ever came to us to ask if we had reservation nor cared that we were waiting. Staff were running around like headless chickens and were very unhappy to be disturbed! What a chaos! We left and thankfully managed to get dinner reservation elsewhere but really affected our New Year’s Eve! Do not go there!
We looked for a place to eat on Christmas night that Did not have a priced fixed menu and looking for Italian. We loved our meal at Mimmo La Bufala. The restaurant was decorated nicely for the holiday, very cozy. Our waitress was so helpful and recommended some dishes that we loved including the calamari and the baked bufala appetizer. The pasta was amazing as well, i had pasta with crab meat in a light sauce. We chose a molten lava type dessert which was delicious. Our Dtr in law was very pleased with vegetariasn options and loved the house wine. So glad we made the trip from the center of London. So worth the trip. Meals priced very reasonably- 4 adults, Drinks, appetizers, meals and 2 desserts for £160. Wish we could recall the waitress name, she is from Italy and was so delightful, very funny. This meal was one of our favorites even after spending the next week in Italy.
Very tasty and authentic Italian food. Very good service. Great ambience!
We had the best meal. The food was delicious, very authentic Italian food. Although the service was very slow the staff were so lovely and friendly and the food was worth the wait! Can’t wait to go back again.
Good service and good food. Had a lovely evening celebrating my birthday with the staff singing happy birthday to me.
Authentic scrumptious italian cuisine, wonderfully friendly staff, decent wine list and very pleasant atmosphere at reasonable prices. Best deal in town. :)
