We ate here on a Saturday for my husband's birthday. It was excellent! We ordered several dishes intending to take some home for lunch the next day. We ate every bite it was all so good. Stand outs were the spicy chicken dumplings, the spinach, and the tuna and charred celery salad (yum!). The most amazing final dish was the savory egg custard with rock shrimp. It was like heaven on a spoon---so light and full of delightful flavor. Since the interior design is some incredible woodwork and concrete walls the noise level can get pretty loud. Once one large party left the noise level returned to conversation-possible levels. Not a reason to avoid the place, but be prepared. Not an intimate romantic spot, unless you like shouting. The menu changes often, and we look forward to going back.
Went early (5:45) on a Saturday. Only bar seat reservations available at that time. Got there and 75% of the tables were open and remained so while we sat at the bar. The beef chuck stir fry was meh but the hamachi sashimi was fresh and delicious.
Innovative cuisine, with clean and pure flavors that show case the elements. An eclectic wine list with an extensive sake selection and a knowledgeable staff. Currently my favorite Napa restaurant among strong competitors.
Everything was wonderful from the service to the food. Will be coming back
We ordered the Chef's Tasting Menu. It was one of the best meals I have ever had, and we had done quite a few Michelin Star restaurants. Many of the courses were selections either not on the menu or items that that we would not have thought to order. I would highly recommend this Chef's Tasting Menu. It was well worth the value. There was so much food we thought we were done and ready for dessert when the main protein was delivered. Superb!
Excellent food and exceptional service. Sit at the counter if you can.
Real wasabi and yakitori are why I like like Miminashi.
Went here for dinner before a show at the Uptown Theater (just a couple blocks away) and were very very happy with everything. Great, attentive service and the food was just wonderful. We particularly liked the gyoza and the chicken katsu. Nice cocktails, too. Highly recommended!
Miminashi continues to deliver innovative and unique takes on Izakaya cuisine. We love their 'snaku', salads, noodles/rice dishes and the robatoyaki is simple yet delicious. Napa is so lucky!
We loved our meal at Miniinaashi and will definitely return. The food was delicious and fish very fresh. The sashimi platter was expensive but the fish so fresh and lovely we undersood the price. We also had the fried rice of the day and it was a combo of spices and vegs that really worked. The ling cod appetizer was also very creative and very good. Definitely don't miss the soft ice cream desserts. Terrific!!
Service was off. I think our server forgot to put our order in as it took 50 minutes for our first dish to come out. We wanted to start with the edamame and pickled vegetables however they came out after the salads.
The food was excellent, everything we did get was perfect. Then we waited for the items we ordered from the Robata grill to come and they never did. Our server forgot to put this order in.
I’m sure it was just an off night for our table, but for such a nice restaurant these things shouldn’t happen.
Very slow service. The Omakase took two hours and had lots of lulls.
Excellent Japanese izakaya. The salads (a pear salad and a squid/citrus) were both exceptionally fresh and tasty. Kampachi sashimi was among the freshest ever. Grilled scallops were perfectly cooked as was the half collar of hamachi. An outstanding restaurant - one of the best in the Napa Valley.
Good looking space. Service was friendly but spotty. Restaurant was not busy for a late dinner, but had to look around to get the attention of a server four times. Sashimi platter was fine. Japanese potato salad was mundane, even though they advertised that it was made w/ Japanese sweet potatoes. Skewered mushrooms were great. Hamachi collar usually has meat falling off the bone, but we needed to ask for a knife. Wrong dessert served. We were offered a replacement, but let it go and cost of dessert was comped. We'll try again to see if we hit an off night.
Love miminashi, thank you! All the food was super good.
We love everything about Miminashi!
Wonderful service..wonder food...wonderful location ..100%....
The food at Miminashi is spectacular, the service not so much as the staff is young and unprofessional and doesn't match the level of the cuisine. I will happily put up with the unprofessional service to have the wonderful meal, anytime.
The trout collar was fabulous! Everything we had was out of this world.
Lunch ordinary not much to choose. Perhaps dinner with a wider menu would be better.
Really delicious food. Heard many great things prior to going and it lived up to them all.
As always Chef Curtis and his team delight with authentic dishes and dynamic service!
Miminashi brings it every time. An exciting dining option.
Been to Miminashi 4 times and always enjoy the food. I like how they changed the menu layout, although it is complex and requires explanation - especially for first timers. Our server missed that opportunity.
I was mainly disappointed with the food. The fish was not fresh(sashimi platter) snapper still with bones- poorly prepared, preparation does not meet the standard that the restaurant was trying to sell. The skewers were chewy- bad. Ramen Not appealing. Wagyu was the only time yung that made a difference. There’s probably a problem with there chef that night. The food was not worth the money we paid.
Average food, not the worst but definitely not the best!
my little ones loved the yakitori!
Restaurant week menu
Overall my first experience at Miminashi was very good. I give it a B-B+. And I would definitely return to try some more new items.
Loved the croquette and the chawanmushi. The okonomiyaki was good, and came highly recommended, but wasn't my favorite. The chicken meatball skewer was good, but was over salted. I found the food generally to have been salty, and I love salt. But it seemed out of balance in that regard. The citrus salad was fresh and fun, but a bit too plain, not enough dressing to make it interesting.
The servers were all very nice and helpful.
Weird food for sure. We don't mind that but really needed some help navigating the menu and our server was no help, even after asking her a couple times to suggest a plan. I think she was annoyed that we asked so many questions so she pretty much avoided us for 40+ minutes.
Too bad, I had heard good things otherwise. We won't be back..
So good. Lunch menu has evolved into a weekly go to!
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Having lived in Japan for three years, I found the food disappointing. You can't pour soy sauce over chicken and vinegar over vegetables and call it Japanese food. The listing of sake prices was confusing. The first column, we took to mean the price for one glass. It wasn't. There was no explanation on the menu.
The interior of the restaurant was dark and on this gloomy day, it was depressing. The music (?) was too loud, so we asked that it be turned down. It was. At first we were charged for the dessert, which was a part of the meal. The waitress corrected the error after we brought it to her attention.
I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who has ever lived or visited Japan. You would be disappointed.
Excellent! I don’t know why we waited so long to go here.
We had a small group trying Miminashi for Restaurant week. All the food was delicious, especially the potato salad! So good. Server answered all our random questions and the environment was very nice. I have lived in Napa for awhile and heard of Miminashi before but never had the chance to try it, I’m will definitely be going back.
We enjoyed a lovely bento box lunch at the restaurant. Everything was absolutely delicious, the chicken was moist, and the sides added crunch and lovely flavor. We had the matcha almond ice cream, which was a real treat. Service was excellent as well. A perfect lunch spot.
small size meat, average taste Yakitori must be expensive. need to consider use different type salt.
The place was only 2/3 full, but it was so noisy that it was downright unpleasant, so we took the food home. The shrimp in a rice bowl was mostly edible, but parts of this dish didn't even meet that standard. The chicken wings were too spicy. On the positive side, the staff were all very nice and helpful, and the potato skins were good. But overall, I would never go again or recommend it to a friend.
Dark too dark. Beautiful restaurant. Welcoming staff. Great food. Just too dark and glare from window was an issue for me.
Excellent soba and udon dishes. Unique in Napa, that it is Japanese style food, but is not a sushi house.
While the food was good, the service was lacking and as a result effected our overall experience.
Unbelievable food. The best Japanese food I have had in the US. Extremely creative. My new favorite resturant!
