Mimi Blue Meatballs and More - Good Food! - Mass Ave
Mimi Blue Meatballs is a tribute to our mother “Mimi Blue” Kosene. Mimi was a Lady, endowed with manners, taste, and an easy social grace. She loved good food whether dining out or cooking for a hard-working husband and three sons. Every home-cooked meal had to satisfy the whole family, as well as any friends who often stopped by. Cooking was the way she brought us together, kept us healthy, and showed us Love.
At Mimi Blue, we make the kind of food Mimi cooked for us at home, but we serve it in the type of comfortable urban setting that Mimi so much enjoyed. Like Mimi herself, our meatball dishes are classics. Each recipe is rooted in culinary tradition, but refined for the modern palette.
Have your Meatballs any way you choose. Mix meats, sauces and sides
Food was mediocre. Service was the same
Great food and service
I didn't know what to expect but Mimi Blue's exceeded them. AMAZING!
Something new, the server was super mice and helpful! The menu was fun also.
Came back downtown for dinner during a baseball
Tournament at Grand Park. We had a variety of meatballs with different sauces. The food was awesome!
I was excited to bring my family from out of town to try one of my favorite restaurants. I bring many clients here for a fun lunch as well. I was disappointed with this visit as our meatballs came out not hot. They tasted as if they had been sitting around for an hour and not fresh or juicy-but dried. My girlfriend and I were able to ask for them to re-make them..which they did. But my family being from out of town were too polite to ask for a new dish. They didn’t get to experience the quality of the food the way I am used to. Disappointed in that. Not sure if I can convince them to come back because of their food quality.
Chose this restaurant on the recommendation of a friend of mine to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The staff was outstanding and the food excellent! I would highly recommend Mimi's!
This restaurant was good and had gluten and dairy free options. In a very cool neighborhood too
This was everything I hoped it would be. The meatballs were delicious and the server was helpful and patient since it was our first time. We truly enjoyed every bit of it. Just wish it was easier to find parking.
Enjoyed sitting outside,
Excellent food, great service and love the quiet but fun atmosphere!
Dinner with my daughter before a concert!
Great concept for a restaurant. It allows you to try different types of meatballs and different sauces. And the sides are excellent.
Went with my husband and two daughters before a concert at Whit Garden. We all had different meals and everyone loved everything. The original meatball with the spicy marinara was my favorite. The sides are large enough for sharing. Good service!
Expensive over cooked meatballs. Very bland. Had high hopes but was very disappointed
We were a group of 8 ladies of a certain age and had a fantastic time. I made last minute reservations, and they placed us perfectly at a round table in a corner where most of the noise was our laughter and expressions of enjoyment. The food was great and the service was absolutely fantastic. Our server (sorry not to know her name) was engaging, funny, efficient, and helpful. Great experience.
Menu doesn't make it clear that of the entire list of "special" meatballs, only one is available each day and you don't know until you get there which one it is. They were also out of the Wonderball the day we went (an everyday menu item, not a special). Waitress wasn't aware of recent pricing changes to certain meatballs and charged us for a more expensive one that we didn't actually get because they were out of it. (She did fix it after we pointed this out to her, but first tried to tell us all the balls were the same price when they were clearly listed differently on our bill.)
Took our niece for her birthday. Great options, tasty variety. Wonderful service from Malik.
The food was amazing as usual, but the service was fantastic! Top notch! We will be back soon!
First experience here. Food was very good and good portions. Service was a little on the slow side when it came to our waitress recognizing our table and replenishing water, drinks, etc. All else was fantastic.
It was a long drive that Thursday night, the storm turned our trip to Mass Ave into an 1 1/2 hour adventure. By the time we arrived, only 15 minutes late for our reservation, we were cold, wet and hungry! Regretably, our 4 dinner guests were stopped by the storm from joining us. Your kind staff moved us to a table for 2, plied us with wine and calmed our nerves. Then, your amazing baked goat cheese with peperonata warmed us right up, the turkey meatballs on dirty mash with mushroom sauce was totally what I needed. My spouse very much enjoyed the traditional meat balls with marinara sauce, which were definitely not ordinary! Our only slight criticism is that our friendly server delivered our entree too early, and I would have loved to have had a crusty gluten free baguette to enjoy with the baked cheese. We shall return, hopefully without the hour long drive in a storm. Thank you and cheers to Mimi Blue!
Nice place. Good food. A little too noisy for a large group like ours to have a conversation.
We came later in a day on Mother’s Day and 2/3 of menu was not available anymore. We placed the order for items still left and they were absolutely delicious!!
Our server was extremely friendly and helpful.
We ended up having a great dinner and family time!
Strongly recommend this restaurant! We were at Mass Avenue location.
We love Mimi Blues. Their new fried chicken ball is my favorite and I cannot go without getting the Queso Mac and the Fried Brussel Sprouts! They are slow to get you your check when they get busy. I think the staff have more than the typical 4-5 tables a person.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and great staff. I think the afternoon staff was worn out after a busy Mother’s Day brunch.
Great food and service. Seating is a little tight but food and service makes up for it! ❤️
Great little eatery. Loved the food. There are plenty of options for everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Mostly good food, but service was very bad for a Saturday night. Meatballs were great. Side of Brussels Sprouts was awful. Only flavor that came through was old oil. Apparently down 1 server so the wait to order and getting the order right was a challenge. Would return on hopes it was just a bad night.
Food was excellent, but the service was sub par . Had to wait a while for our food plus did not receive our appetizer before our meal.
Delicious food: love the variety of sauce choices fir each meatball.
Great food. Fast delivery of food. Extremely decent prices for good wine.
Excellent meatballs and a variety to choose from. The sides are always fantastic. We love the Brussel Sprouts grilled. Lots of choices on meatball toppings so everyone should find something they like. Great place to go with friends. The only complaint was the chocolate cake was rather dry and for $8.50 should be fresh, especially on a Saturday evening. It was a generous piece with ice cream but all all three couples that ordered it agreed it was a bit stale. Service was wonderful. They serve some of the best coffee in town. Always a good time.
Great food and service. Perfect date night
The service was 5 star! The banana mousse is one of the best desserts anywhere.
We really enjoyed our dinner. The food and wine ware excellent and Cole our server did a fantastic job taking care of our large group.
Yum! Fun concept. Great for sharing. I’ll take out-of-town friends there. Must-have side: mac & cheese.
It was my husband’s birthday. The appetizers we ordered were great. The cauliflower and gnocchi were hot. The rest of our meals were room temperature at best. The dirty mashed potatoes were cold. My daughters said the apple pie and strawberries/chocolate were good.
Fun concept, something different and enjoyable. Food was very good and there is so much to choose from. All four of us want to go back and try more. Very enjoyable evening.
I think It was pretty good and the price was reasonable. However, it was weird and slightly frustrating that they did not have many items that were both gluten free and vegan. I took my mom there for her birthday because she is allergic to gluten and dairy. and she still had a hard time finding something.
