Our chef combines the best of regional culinary specialties with memorable dishes and tempting desserts – any of which pairs beautifully with a selection from our wine list or one of our many regional craft ales. Enjoy your meal in the gorgeous restaurant dining room or our outdoor seasonal patio; you'll find either setting to be warm, welcoming and distinctly Minnesota.
My husband had the filet and veggies and he said it was one of the better ones he's had. I opted for a bacon cheeseburger which was recommended by our waitress. It came with seasoned fries and both were good. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there was a gala (a medical cause) that evening in the hotel so there was a lot of traffic in the lobby which is where the restaurant is located. If you want a quiet romantic dinner this is not the place but if you want to people watch, its a great place to be.
The tacos and salad were great the turkey burger and soup were so-so
We had an amazing time. Everyone was so friendly. They were busy, but everything ran smoothly!
Not the greatest. Walleye was smothered in seasoning so couldn’t taste the fish.
2 visits 9/11 and 13.The first 1030 pm.The second early coincides with a large party.Food good both times and late service good. The second visit was marked by extremely slow service particularly serving wine I had nearly finished my main course before my wine appeared.
I had to rate the food to get to the comments, even though we did not eat here. We had reservations for 5:30. Our meeting ending early so we proceeded to the restaurant to see if we could get in early. No one was at the host station, but we tracked someone down finally and asked if we could be seated earlier to enjoy appetizers and drinks before our meal. (the place was empty).
The man that we spoke to was abrupt and rude and basically left us hanging without an answer. After hovering around for 10 minutes, we proceeded to the bar area across the way to have a drink and wait for our reservation time. We no more than sat down and the rude man Confronted us, snapping at us as we didn’t wait around for an answer and were we going to sit in the bar or at our table.
As I was buying dinner for 5 people ($400+) I certainly was not going to enjoy a dinner where we were so rudely treated. We left, Bar La Grassa squeezed us in and had a phenomenal meal, with amazing customer service! I recommend people to go to Bar La Grassa and avoid Milwaukee Road
Located directly in the lobby of a hotel. Definitely not a fine dining experience. Would avoid unless need a quick bite to eat while staying at the hotel and even then there are better options nearby.
Ambience and service was very good. Beautiful restoration of eating area and lounge. Server was very attentive and cheerful. The food just was not anything to make you want to come back for. Price was ok but food really lack any kind of character or favor.
Jason was awesome!
Restaurant was empty but still very slow service. Extremely overpriced for the portion sizes you get. Pictures online look nothing like actual restaurant. It’s right in the middle of the hotel lobby which is busy and loud. Sparkling water/soda is FIVE dollars. Wouldn’t ever go again. Bummed I wasted a night on it.
The food and service was very good. Walking distance from the Guthrie.
The sevice, food, and vibe of Milwaukee Road were all fantastic. Feels like a hidden gem - we'll be back!
Overall this was a good experience and I would give it a 3.5. I attended with a group of friends, the reservations were fairly easy over "Open Table" but there were a couple of things that could have been better. I ordered the petite filet mignon to be done medium rare and it was cooked medium well...this is more than a slight error. I did not return because the steak was still fairly tender and easy to eat AND when I brought it to their attention they did comp the meal to half price. The waitress disappeared near the end and we didn't receive any water refills during out dinner. The wine was great and the cocktails were delicious. Lastly, they music was turned up despite hardly any other patrons in the restaurant and this made it very difficult to have conversations among our group of 6.
Very enjoyable meal. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
Quiet. Friendly. An excellent venue for pre-Guthrie dinner
We like going to Milwaukee Road. Nice service, good food, nice ambience-what do you want more for a nice date night out? Plus, they have a nice choice of gluten free menu items. We’ll be back!
Dinner before heading to the Guthrie.
It's not bad for a hotel restaurant. The food was good but found the service was lacking. I ordered a steak medium rare and it came out medium well. The waitress never came back to ask me how my meal was and when she did I had eaten most of it. There was no reason for her not to come by because I was the only person there!
The food was unique but was barely lukewarm which was disappointing and they forgot to complete the dessert as outlined on menu.
This is a really nice restaurant with high-quality food inside the Renaissance Hotel. Great prices and excellent service! I had the walleye which was exceptional!
Our waitress seemed impatient and was short with us while ordering. I had a lot higher expectations for our experience since breakfast pricing was on the higher end. In the future I’ll be dining elsewhere. The food was mediocre at best and even with the Vikings game in town it wasn’t packed.
Had a pre-concert reservation 1.5 hours prior to showtime ... got drinks but waiter kept coming back with news that our food had been further delayed ... many disappointed customers that night .
We had a reservation for the 5 of us at 5:30. We ordered food within 5 mins or so because we had a concert at 7. Our server came to our table three times to tell us that our food would be out shortly, but it never came. By 6:30 and after waiting over 50 mins we informed our server we had a concert and couldn’t wait much longer. She said the kitchen was backed up and there were three tickets a head of us and would be another 10-15 mins. We told her we couldn’t wait any longer and left. We were very disappointed with the server and service. We were never once told that it was going to be a long wait for our food. If we had known that beforehand, we would have left earlier. We were starving and had to go to the concert without eating. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We went with dear elderly friends for lunch and were seated according to our wish in a quiet corner. Lunch (Walleye sandwich GF and Chicken Paillard) was very good and our waitress was great.
We’ll come back more often.
Lovely people here at this hotel. The service and staff are terrific. The only reasons I didn't give the restaurant a higher score is the food just isn't that great. The highly rated wild rice chicken soup was way over salted and that's coming from someone that adds salt to near everything so if it was over salted for me, that's saying a lot. I also tried the pastrami and Swiss on marbled Rye. They slathered on horseradish mustard and shredded pickle in lieu of sauerkraut and thousand island. It was basically a ruined Rueben all you could taste was the horseradish mustard and pickles. I couldn't eat it. I also tried their vanilla cheesecake that was ok. It wasn't great or memorable. I was pretty surprised since it had such high ratings but for me it was not great at all. It wasn't even good, it was ok. The ambiance was not great either because you're basically eating in the lobby of the hotel. Anyway, I don't want to be too negative because it's a really nice hotel and the people like I said were really nice, so just don't come starving and you'll be fine. I still had a really nice time here, I was just not thrilled with the food. But I'd still come back because of the over all experience.
very quiet in the restaurant and the server bought the food then never came back and got us the bill and then left us.. The location and the interior is great but the food ok and service not so good...
We went there for a date and we’re not staying at the hotel but could see lots of hotel commotion, including front desk/concierge staff playing with paper airplanes in the lobby. Server was sweet but needs a lot more training and for a restaurant that advertises a more classy, high end vibe, the service felt more like what you’d get at Applebee’s. Crab cake was delicious, chicken sandwich was fine. Everything else was okay but not great. Cheese/meat board left much to be desired...
We went there for our anniversary dinner before a show at the Guthrie. Parking was bad and they didn’t have our reservation. Regardless, they were not busy so we were seated. The hostess handed us menus but the waitress quickly replaced them with smaller menus saying they had a restricted menu that night, without explanation. The food that we saw and hoped to order (listed on their website) was not on the restricted menu. The food we did order was good but not great. I’ll admit not having a reservation on their system (despite it being setup and confirmed via OpenTable) and the restricted menu doomed them in my opinion.
Burger was decent; I had chicken wings with bourbon sauce but would pass on them the next time. Ask for the wine list from bar; not all options are listed in menu.
The appetizers were great, especially the brussel sprouts. I had the walleye sandwich and it was deep fried. I wouldn't order that again
Nice breakfast but too pricey.
Waited over 30 mins for server to greet our table than another hour for our food. Well the hour is what we gave them until we just got frustrated and left.
A wonderful Mother’s Day brunch with family
Nice atmosphere and very good food. Our server was excellent.
Sunday brunch apparently ends at noon then is switched over to their over priced dinner menu. Service was alright, had to remind servers about our beverages we had ordered several times. Our bland over priced food came out quick. The truffle Mac and cheese had literally no flavor and if you order the side of shrimp on it you will get 3 burnt tail on for $5. I can see why we were the only table there.
Food was pretty good. I would recommend taking the chicken dish off the menu. My wife got it and it was extremely over cooked. She then got the filet mignon which is what I got and was satisfied. However, it was a small 6oz filet. A bigger piece of meat or a variety of steak would have been great. I would give it a 7 out of 10. Great service. Also, get a dessert menu. Having a server jot in down quick isn't too impressive. We went elsewhere for dessert.
The food and drinks were very good. The restaurant wasn't busy but the service was slow. Overall I'd go back.
Good sized single fish taco for an App followed by nicely done walleye sandwich. Refreshing to finally have the fish not breaded when dining out. Nice place and the crowd seemed more mature than your average dinner spot.
Not a fan. The filet was small and although we ordered medium rare it was tough and no pink to be seen in the middle. The dinner salad was lettuce - period. Nothing additional added and was a la carte. No bread beforehand. Restaurant is in the lobby area and open to foot traffic and noise. Not what we had expected.
