Good food and beer, BOGO chicken dinner was excellent
After missing out on our anniversary night back in January and being out of town a lot we finally made it back to our favorite restaurant in Black Mountain. Staff was very welcoming and our trout dinners were delicious. Looking forward to another date night at Milton’s.
We are so happy you were able to finally make it in to celebrate your anniversary! We always look forward to having you both. Thank you for choosing to celebrate such a special occasion with us.
Our first dining in in 2 months
Great service & wonderful food! I will always recommend Milton’s to anyone.
Great special menu for valentine day. Very taste, friendly and attentive waiter and well worth the money.
Nice old hotel ambiance.
We came for the Valentine's Day Special.
On paper it looked great, however it's execution was disappointing.
We were seated in the banquet room where the ambient noise level was high.
Not a deal breaker, but not the romantic dinner spot we were hoping for.
We opted for the shrimp appetizers, there were 6 good size shrimp for 2 people.
That was good, but it seemed a couple more might have been better.
The next course was a mushroom and cheese item. Ours was served cold in the middle and warmed up on the outside, obviously pulled from the oven too soon. Mine had an extra portion of crust, from another plate. Not much loving there...
My wife had the steak, I had scallops.
The steak was very tender and the portion was good.
I received my plate with 3 scallops, they were very good, however, for $45 per plate, I would have expected a better portion. Most restaurants have at least 4 on the plate.
Then there was desert, we ordered the berry crumble, what we received was a scoop of what appeared to be pie filling with a few crumbs of vanilla wafer on top.
Dismal at best, we didn't eat it, the waitress didn't question why.
We expected a decent dinner for $89 for 2.
What we were served was small portions of hastily prepared banquet food.
I understand there are challenges with Covid for restaurants, however, there is no excuse for this.
In an area known for great cuisine, there is no reason to ever return.
Great little find in Black Mountain! Great food....great service....great vibes.....great venue. Love the location and the quaint setting. Great outdoor area that we didn’t get to experience, BUT we will be back!
Enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! Friendly, spacious and delicious.
My husband and I reserved a table for Sunday brunch on Valentine's Day, which also happens to be his birthday. I even put it was his birthday on the reservation. The hostess acknowledged his birthday, and even our server acknowledged it, but when it came to time to order dessert we were told first that the dessert I wanted wasn't available, then we were told there were NO desserts available because they had to save what they had for the evening's Valentine's dinner service. Seriously? It was a birthday, it was on our reservation! They could have at least given him a small slice of cake or something. This was the biggest let down by far, but sadly there were others too. Our server was phenomenal, honestly, she was sweet and attentive, and made great conversation. Our drinks were great, I highly recommend the Sangria Carafe. Our server was also the bartender, and you could tell she loved making drinks. Sadly, after we finished our carafe, I asked for just a glass of the sangria, but was told it is only offered by the carafe, which I thought was odd, so I just had a glass of wine. For brunch we started with an appetizer, the deviled eggs, which were a nice start, and tasted great. My husband ordered the brioche french toast and I ordered the pimento eggs benedict. There seemed to be a little delay in getting our food, and they did apologize and brought some bread. I believe what happened was our order was sent to a nearby table, because they got what we ordered and immediately sent it back and then they got two completely different items. After the wait, my breakfast was delicious. My husband was disappointed as his french toast was pretty dry and did not come with whipped cream even though the menu said it would. So, overall it was good, just not the level we expected. My husband was pretty disappointed.
Valentine’s brunch...couldn’t get reservations in Asheville where we were spending the weekend, and actually found Mildton’s via Opentable quite by accident. Great find and distance wasn’t bad.
Our waiter, I believe his name was Fred, was outstanding!! My daughter has celiac disease. When he brought our bread to us, he also brought Gluten Free bread to our daughter...without us requesting it....it was SO thoughtful, made our daughter's day. Actually ours too, it is difficult to eat with this issue. The rest of the service was just as good. And the food was delicious.
We had reservations at 8pm, didn't get seating till 8:30pm then nobody came to our table till 8:45pm and the waitress kept walking past us for 15 mins without saying anything knowing we were at her table..we didn't get our food till almost 9:30 and it was not good..got the flank steak which is so overpriced for a 6 oz steak on top of a tiny pile a mashed potatoes and we got the shrimp and grits the sauce and shrimp was good but the grits were not fully done and clumped together making it really hard to eat..our appetizer was the fried chicken sliders was truly the best part of the night, now those were delicious..needless to say the service was bad and the food was overpriced and not great
Everything was delicious! ESP the hanger steak, deviled eggs and pimento cheese! Can’t wait to visit again!
Place was nice of one wanted to visit from a history perspective, but I certainly wouldn’t waste money on dining in. My first experience was terrible and I will never go back. Had a reservation at 7:30 pm. I ordered multiple choices, not because that’s what I wanted, but they kept saying they out of this and that. If they are going to sell food, they need food to sell. I might would understand if the reservation was at 9:30 PM, but 7:30 PM, come on! So the substitutions we had to eat were terrible and cold. Ridiculous! Overpriced and crap!
The chicken was amazing & the steak was great.
Try the pear Mule, wonderful pairings.
Good food, great waiter, had a blast...
Making me type a minimum of 50 characters for the review is ridiculous!
This restaurant was very romantic and the staff was outstanding!
Great drive to the restaurant. In a hotel and is very quaint. There was a live musician which was unexpected and nice. Kitchen was running behind, but service was exceptional the entire time. When the food did come out it was well worth it! The butternut squash bisque was velvety, the braised shoulder was fork tender with an AMAZING sauce. Would recommend to a friend!
Great service. Good food. Well spaced out and limited seating for the times. They also have a great patio for warmer weather and outdoor dining.
Love Miltons! Just a minor pet peeve. I was with a female dining partner. Service staff should be taught not to refer to people as “you guys.” It is very sloppy language to begin with and inappropriate when there is a female at the table
Everything was wonderful! I would highly recommend for any occasion.
Great place who hosted our party of 10 perfectly.
Everyone loved their food and experience here during brunch. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent! We requested a remote table due to our pandemic concerns, and staff was very accommodating. They gave us the large event room to ourselves! The food was good, but not quite up to our expectations given the prices. I’m a pimento cheese fanatic, but that appetizer left me wanting. The osso bucco special was delicious but the mashed potatoes served with it were lumpy. The desserts we had were excellent. All that said, the staff were delightful, and we see much promise in the place. We will definitely be back.
Hidden gem I recommend to all! It’s a special place I hope to get back in the spring to sit on the patio out back that looked so inviting! Food was amazing loved the pickled shrimp 🍤
Amazing service, food and atmosphere. If you’re visiting, put this on the top of your list!
From the outstanding customer service to that delicious tasting food, Milton's was amazing. The pickled shrimp, it had just the right amount of picketing to pucker and savor. The fried chicken over mash potatos with green beans and drizzled in honey. It had just the right amount of fire to it and the honey mixed with the mashed potatoes and green beans, my word. I couldn't get over this place. It was just amazing. The only thing that I didn't love was the beet salad but honestly who likes beets.
What a lovely gem in Black Mountain! And to find this during Restaurant Week was an extra special treat.
Great food and a beautiful location in a wonderful town. This goes on our list of favorites for sure.
Miltons was wonderful. We went to celebrate a recent promotion my husband got at work. The ambiance was perfect, the service excellent, and the food was delicious! We love finding gems in the small towns surrounding Asheville. We will definitely be back!
Another excellent burger night in front of the fireplace.
I missed you all this time but hope you enjoyed celebrating your anniversary in front of the fire. Happy belated anniversary! Thank you for your support. There are no words for how much it means to us.
A true gem that we found! We live in South Asheville and will definitely come back to Milton’s! Everything was outstanding.
Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was quiet and welcoming, and food was amazing!
Lovely atmosphere, friendly knowledgeable staff, amazing food and cocktails! Will definitely go back often.
We always enjoy Brunch at Milton’s. The Christmas decorations in the hotel were beautiful, with the many trees decorated by Community groups and businesses. The food, staff and service are excellent. We don’t live in the area, and make the trip to enjoy the charming town of Black Mountain and a great time at Milton’s.
We stayed at the Hotel! Everything was wonderful!
Hands down absolutely love this place!!! So thankful we found it.
Food was delicious!
We had a wonderful New Years Eve meal at Milton's. They were busy but handled everything smoothly. The menu was terrific and the service was even better. It was a festive way to wind down 2020. The restaurant did great despite the governmental restrictions and everyone seemed to have a lovely time. Chloe at the bar was wonderful also.
Melissa, We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your evening! Thank you for spending your NYE with us and I absolutely agree, Chloe is wonderful! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
It was not a good experience at all. Our table was not ready. Granted we ate there at New Year’s Eve but we had reservations! 2 couples came in after us and were seated pretty much right away. Once we finally were seated
it took 30 minutes for a waitress to come by to take our food and drink order. Another 30 minutes to get the starter. Being there for 1.5 hours we had the starter and first course. The main course took another 30 minutes. Dessert came fairly quick. We had reservations at 7:30 and finally werde done at 9:45. A couple next to us showed up about 1 hours after us and finished at the same time.
I want to sincerely apologize for the lengthly wait time. We want every guest to have a wonderful experience every time they come in and just because it was a holiday and we were busy doesn't mean our guest should suffer. If anything holidays should be a chance for us to step up service even more. I hope you will give us another chance. I'd love to have you back and treat you to dinner. Please let us know when we can make that happen. Again, I am very sorry for your experience.
So fabulous! Thank you!
