Good flavor profiles. Not "ethnic" food but effective world-cuisine influences dressing up meat, fish, and vegetables. Great cauliflower appetizer! Decent wine selection pairs well with foods.
I always love Millie’s! The food was excellent as usual. I had the Roasted Pork Loin with collards & herb cheese polenta. My wife had the Thai Spicy Shrimp. Both were excellent!
Great food. Great service.
Millie's is absolutely wonderful. We love going here. Awesome staff. We wonderful chefs. Great food. Highly recommend!
I have only been to Millie’s for brunch and took some work colleagues for dinner on a Thursday night. Delicious!!! Yummy bread, carrot soup and Thai spicy shrimp. Can’t beat this place!
You can always count on Millie's to deliver great food and a great value. There is a reason why the restaurant has been a valued jewel in Richmond's restaurant crown for many years. The menu changes with the season, except for a couple of well-loved dishes. You won't be disappointed if you choose Millie's.
The Rockfish is the best dish in town! You can not miss on anything you order here, it is remarkably perfectly prepared every time.
Still one the city’s gems! Always a great choice and a joy to partake! Probably best staff in town! Yes, it’s that good!
I have long loved Millie's for the amazing brunch so I thought I'd give them a try for dinner. It's a different environment than brunch with a more sophisticated menu and an expansive (and affordable) wine list. The food was delicious. We loved the roasted bone marrow appetizer with country ham and red eye jam. Our entrees were also great...the Thai Spicy Shrimp dish and a perfectly cooked NY strip, yum! Our server, Joe, provided excellent service. He was knowledgable on the menu/wine and was attentive and friendly. If you're a fan of Millie's for brunch but haven't checked out dinner...you're missing out. 5 stars!
The service was very slow, the steak was very tough and the fish was over cooked. This was my second attempt at this restaurant, I thought the first time may have been a anomaly. I was very disappointed, had high expectations .
the dining room was way too loud; no one could carry on a normal conversation. and my expensive steak was so tough, I brought it home to feed my dogs. I have had great experiences at Millie's for lunch, but dinner was terrible.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed Millie's....food was delicious, drinks were tasty and dessert was awesome (flourless chocolate). Our waiter was attentive early on and then got slammed with others so he forgot about us half way through our meal, but that was OK as we wanted a relaxing dinner to catch up. Overall, a great experience while visiting friends in Richmond and I would go back.
An icon in the RVA culinary choices!!!
Always excellent food and the staff is always friendly. The decor is ecclectic and the experience is always positive
Chef made us an item not on the menu. Everything was spot on!!
It was our 28th wedding anniversary and everything was perfect.
Favorite all time place to go for 28 years! Good for dinner, lunch or brunch. Staff are like family. Great for good food every time you go
Millie’s is always the best! We try to take our out of town friends here because it’s so consistent, though never the same.
The chair broke and one of my guest hit the floor. They only offered a glass of champagne.
Food was ok. It was busy and our server Joe was nice but stretched. Steak was $26. Over priced with 3 “fingerling” potatoes. Shrimp was over spiced. Caesar salad was good.
We can here from out of town with our two pre-teens that are typically not fans of non-basic food. The hostess and wait staff were super kind and accommodating (made a grill cheese sandwich for one child). Our food was excellent and the atmosphere was festive and fun.
The food was cold and expensive for what we paid for. The service was great! Disappointed in the food!
Menu was limited for any fish choices other than shrimp.
Quite frankly disappointing. I know it was Christmas Eve,
but we felt rushed from the minute we walked in.
Not sure if I will drive past several more enticing restaurants
on my way to Church Hill from Ginter Park in the near future.
We love Millie's! Food was great as always. Ceasar salad one of the best ever, but......main courses were served while we were still eating salad and apps. The cooks could easily see us and there weren't that many people in the restaurant. Waitress disappeared during the meal when we wanted water. Then rushed clearing the plates while some of us were still eating. Disappointing given the many many other times we've been there and had great food and service!!
Millie’s is consistently awesome!!
Outstanding cauliflower soup! Loved the scallops with ferro and brussel sprouts.
Food was great for our 20th anniversary.
We were fortunate to have a ringside table just outside of the open kitchen where Mo, the energetic, young chef, turns out some of the most imaginative and delicious meals in Richmond. Don't be fooled by the crusty decor, Millies is a top-tier restaurant. The wait staff is friendly, prompt and attentive. Make a reservation and enjoy the meal. You won't be disappointed.
Casual atmosphere, good service, food - hit or miss. Entree (pan seared drum) was superb, soup (bisque - pumpkin ?) was completely without any flavor or taste. Good wine collection. Still going strong after all these years, though it used to be a lot better. Perhaps the competition is catching up and spoiling the local dinners by raising the bar.
Noodle/pork appetizer came out very salty (too much soy sauce). Dinner arrived to our table much later than expected considering the restaurant only had 4-5 tables full. The food came out luke warm with the cous cous almost cold. I had requested special seating with my reservation due to my daughter's birthday, but was sat adjacent to the bar and not in dining room. Very disappointed after receiving several recommendations from friends in Richmond.
Highly recommend the Caesar salad (I know, sounds boring!) and the spicy Thai noodles with shrimp. Even the bread and butter were tasty. Quaint atmosphere - recommend sitting at or near the bar to watch the grill action up close. Impressed such elaborate, flavorful creations come out of such a small area for the chefs!
We’ve been to Millie’s for brunch and were excited to finally go for dinner. It did not disappoint! The menu changes daily and still had so many options. The steamed mussels were fantastic as were both of our entrees.
We have always loved Millie's but had not been in a while. Went with a large group recently. Took over 30 minutes to get our first drink and over two hours to get our food. Food was not what it used to be, unfortunately. Not sure if this was because they seemed understaffed or overly busy, but we will probably think twice before we go back. There are just too many other options in Richmond these days, where the food and service are better.
The scallops and duck were fabulous. The setting was great as well. Service was friendly. Would go back tomorrow if I was still in town.
We had an outstanding meal--duck, tile fish and sautéed scallops. Service was, as always, prompt, friendly and professional. Millies remains our favorite restaurant in Richmond, and its amazing that the quality has not declined in the many years we have been eating there.
Came for Richmond Restaurant Week. Came in a little early with reservations, was seated immediately. Ended up doing a few courses as well as an app for the table. All the food was great and the dishes were very balanced. Our server was very informative and gave us additional info on any questions we had!
Definitely exceeded my expectations!
We had a great dinner at Millie’s. I had the signature Thai Spicy Shrimp and it was delicious. My husband had the price fixed meal and it was super. The portions were a perfect size for three courses. Our friends had the hanger steak and the fish special and they both stated their meals were delicious.
I was most disappointed for my birthday dinner. Tim was the waiter & he was quite abrupt to the point of rude. My appetizer clearly had a worm of some sort moving on top of it which I declined to consume & sent it back. I was meeting with dear friends as my husband was unable to join us. I felt totally not special & I specifically chose this for my special occasion. While only visiting once for brunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed, I will never return for dinner.
This restaurants has maintained its excellent, and well deserved, reputation for a long time. So this was not my first visit. Non of the previous ones was a despointment. This one was even better than the other ones. The food is more interesting, selection more unusual and taste is a good as ever. The service was excellent and the rest is obviously much less important. The noise level allows to talk and not shout so it is a great advantage.
I am convinced that they would meet any bodies expection for good food
Food and service was fantastic! We ate outside at our request and unfortunately flies were terrible. And, there was no fan to deter them. Prices were a little high but would definitely return for a special occasion. Would also recommend Millie's to other people. They and the food were super!
We so enjoyed our dinner at Millie’s ! Our server was smart, friendly, and helpful. He obviously cared that we were happy customers. He was proud of their food, and rightly so, as it was delicious. We had the cauliflower soup, duck breast and a perfectly prepared Caesar salad. Can’t wait to go back!
