Mille Fleurs Ratings and Reviews
so appreciated being 'welcomed back' as we've been out of the area so a while now; so highly recognised and appreciated! food was delightfully exceptional which was nice addition; dessert was decadent!! service was well spaced and calm; lovely ambience there too!!
We stayed away from this favorite spot of ours for a couple of years because our last visit was sub-par. However, our dinner on October 7th was outstanding and re-ignited our love of Mille Fleurs. We were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant, had excellent servers, absolutely delicious salad, entry, and dessert. Thank you !!
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with my experience at Mille Fleurs. When you think French cuisine, you think rich, bold flavors. Unfortunately, most of our dishes lacked any complexity of flavor. The service was great, the ambience was very nice, but I will not be going back to Mille Fleurs as the food was subpar.
This was my second visit to Mille Fleur. The first time I dined here was about 10 years ago. I remembered it as being a great meal, but I never had the occasion to return. This second visit was wonderful, almost perfect even. Our table was nice, larger than most four tops, but not too large and the chairs are comfortable. We ordered off the restaurant week menu, and our waiter was attentive and answered questions and made suggestions in a helpful and unobtrusive way. A complimentary amuse bouchée of tuna tartare was one of the best things I've ever eaten. We had escargot, salad with calamari, salmon, and hanger steak. The passion fruit desert was lovely. The service overall was not brisk. You are not hurried through your meal. Had we not been in Europe this past summer we might have thought the service slow. It's not slow, it's leisurely and appropriately relaxing. Will return very soon.
This restaurant is one of the few with Old World ambience, magnificent food, and professional service. The menu is creative and features local fresh produce, seasonal favorites, beautiful plating, and quality meats. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional without being stuffy and aloof. Highly recommended for a very special experience.
Atmosphere not very warm or welcoming. Treated like a second class customer. Even though not very busy, given a lousy table in the corner in the bar area, with no view except the walls. None of the staff seemed very knowledgeable about the wine list but the service was good. The food was also good, although very overpriced!!
Did not feel welcomed.
We use to celebrate our anniversaries here, but not anymore!
Mille Fleurs is a fine dining restaurant that has maintained its high standards for many years. I am surprised only that they aren't more crowded since the food and service are outstanding and the prices are reasonable for their quality. Newer but much lesser places draw bigger crowds. Parking problems in Rancho Santa Fe may be one reason. Always a good choice when you're looking for an upper-level dining experience. Good for a business lunch as well, although they serve lunch only on Thursday and Friday.
Lost it's luster. This used to be our favorite spot for a romantic dinner. Now it's a shell of it's former self. Almost wish we hadn't gone back to preserve the great memories. Sat staring at our champagne bottle from across the room for at least 30 minutes while glasses sat empty in front of us. Waiter had no knowledge of the wine list (which is now a poorly pared down version of what used to be spectacular). Food was excellent, but the poor service couldn't be made up for. Timing for the whole experience was off.
Won't be returning. It seemed like it would be fun to see Randy at the piano again, but it was actually the opposite. Like suspended animation and not in a good way.
Mille Fleurs is one of our favorites. We went in August for a Friday lunch just before going to the horse races. The atmosphere here is very comfortable and unstuffy but also quite beautiful with the Provencal decor. Waitstaff is not at all intrusive but very knowledgeable about the menu. There is a prix fixe menu with 2 choices for each course, plus an a la carte menu. Prices are a bit higher than some other places but it is worth going here when you want a nice restaurant to actually converse with your dining companion. My favorite menu item is the lobster salad. The presentation is very colorful and inviting. It is not merely a green salad tossed with a few lobster pieces. Rather it is a lovely arrangement of large chunks of lobster, papaya, avocado, and grapefruit slices arranged around a small green salad. It looked like a painting. With a glass of white wine, you can't go wrong!
This restaurant is the best San Diego has to offer in terms of traditional service, food, and ambience. I feel transported to Europe because of the professional staff, the well-prepared food, good wine list, fresh flowers, fresh bread, etc. A bit pricey but well worth it for that very special dining experience.
