Every body is so atentive, they male you feel so welcome and a joy to attend you, it is a memorball experience always.
Two days past Valentine's Day but the balloons were still up, and the V Day tasting menu was still available. Service was earnest but very choppy. Our meals were very good. Solid, but not particularly memorable.
Elegant, very nice
This is our favorite restaurant anytime of year and especially for our special events! We feel like we are the only customers in the restaurant when we are there even at its busiest time. There is no place to get what we get every time we come to Mille Fluers!
What a fabulous respite from life's travails! Ensconced in the quiet atmosphere of a French country inn, Mille Fleurs has it all- gourmet food, deep wine list, impeccable service and romance. Truffles are available when in season, and they are particularly enchanting with the Wagu beef filet. This is the perfect place to take someone for a special occasion. Highly recommended.
This has always been a reliably good place for an excellent dining experience. Creative preparations, quiet place.
Mille Fleurs is an absolute delight! The wait staff is top notch to go along with their excellent menu choices. This is a restaurant perfect for an intimate dinner. People generally keep their voices low so if you are looking to have a lively, loud dinner please go elsewhere. The staff is too friendly to say anything, but some lively diners created a bit of a distraction. The “tastes” (small plate) sounded ordinary, but were the surprise hit. Who knew deviled eggs could be so tasty? And the citrus pavlova dessert was phenomenal I don’t not think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. One of our personal favorites is the short rib entree. One of our best dining experiences ever.
Lovely ambiance, excellent service, wonderful food. Pea soup was amazing, steak and sea bass perfect.
The best in San Diego
Quiet dinner to celebrate a milestone birthday. Our server Alexandra, working on her sommelier certification, was excellent and she recommended a lovely Bordeaux. The table was perfect, the food was perfect. It was an absolutely perfect evening. Thank you, Mille Fleurs.
My food was amazing except for short rib too much fat and not much flavor. Unfortunately the waiter made several references to making the meal affordable, which I found offensive. The first time he made the statement I said we aren’t concerned about price and he repeated similar statements twice after. I listened carefully to his conversations with other customers near us and heard no such statements. Other than that my mother and I enjoyed our food and will be back soon.
We hadn't been there in quite some time so decided to give it a try again during restaurant week. Both my husband and I ordered from the regular menu and the prix fix they were featuring so that we could have everything we wanted. We each enjoyed our appetizers, he had the duck confit donuts and I had the deviled eggs with caviar. The beet salad was ok, the seabass was a larger portion than expected but not impressive so I only ate part and brought the rest home for the dogs. The carrot cake dessert was disappointing, especially for a French restaurant. The wines were quite lovely and their wine menu is impressive. My husband had the pork belly, the schnitzel and the chocolate banana dessert as well as some hand crafted cocktails of which he enjoyed all of them, although he is quite easy to please. On the bill they charged us for a bottle of sparkling water we never ordered which seemed odd since the bill already included the 3 glasses of wine and 3 cocktails. We just happened to notice it so they removed it. They also automatically charge a 4% service fee on the entire bill as well as an 18% tip, which seemed rather tacky for a fine dining restaurant. If someone can afford to dine in RSF, I'd like to think they can do their own math to figure out their tip. We believe in tipping generously, but when a place charges it automatically, they actually get less than what we would have done on our own.
Great fixed price lunch! Lovely ambiance!
Awesome food! Good luck to Chef McHart and Chef Tran
Amazing experience, will return for sure!
This was our second visit to Mille Fleurs during Restaurant Week. They have a new chef and we were curious to see if/how things have changed. Service was outstanding - probably the best in San Diego county, in the best French tradition.
If we could give 3.5* for food that would be more accurate. While everything was well prepared, we enjoyed the food more on our previous visit last year. The pork belly appetizer was large, very fatty and not appealing to look at, even topped with diced apples. The cider reduction was delicious, but it didn't make the dish any better. It was graciously replaced with a salad, which was lovely and light. Unfortunately the clams appetizer was more pasta than clams. he beet starter was the most beautiful, and was very pleasing.
The seabass main was done to perfection, as was the weiner schnitzel (a classic). The pork chop came as three huge slices over garnish, perfectly cooked and tasty. All the RW desserts were just OK, nothing special, even though they all sounded delicious. The coffee was good, but it was served WARM, not hot. All in all, we felt it was good, but certainly not the excellent standard of food we expected.
They allowed substitutions from their regular menu in addition to the RW menu, which was a nice option, so you could mix and match. That worked out nicely.
Always Wonderful! Expensive but well worth the price. Food is excellent and service is outstanding.
Delicious food - beet salad may have been the best I’ve ever had! Great NY steak. Amazing chocolate banana tart. My boyfriend’s steak was not as good as mine - they took it back and replaced it - impeccable service.
Mille Fleurs is my daughter's favorite restaurant, so that's naturally where we went for her 9th birthday. I notified the staff in advance about the birthday. They made such a fuss over her and treated her like a princess. It was such a wonderful dinner for our whole family. We were so delighted by the food and service. Every bite was amazing. Even foods I don't normally like -- such as polenta -- was cooked to perfection. Thank you, Mille Fleurs, for making a special day even more spectacular!
It was our anniversary and also the first time we have visited Mille Fleurs. We were well aware of it's prestige and reputation. Overall it was very, very good. We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the service.
Two small items that I thought were overlooked:
1) There was no anniversary dessert offered ---we have had anniversaries at many restaurants over the years and a 'dessert' was always offered. Having said that the pavlova was superb.
2) The service and attention was excellent but no one ever inquired as to how many years we were married or mentioned it after the initial host cheerily announced 'Anniversary' on our arrival.
Fine dining with a flair and a terrific wine list. Service was impeccable. Not overpriced for a fine French dining experience.
Had not been here in a while - food was nice, service generally great, the maitre d’ was excellent, our waiter was nice, but seemed like some people were new. Service also seemed slow - not sure if they were understaffed. I recalled this place being known for service which is why my expectations were high. My fish was lovely, as were my appetizer and beverages. My date thought his sea bass was fine and well cooked but not phenomenal. Still a really nice experience though, had a great time.
It was marvelous — the ambience, food and service were simply amazing!!!
Went for a first acquaintance lunch and it could not be better; the best food and the best ambiance, quiet to talk, we stayed almost for two and a half hours. Could not be better; for me the best restaurant in San Diego!
Order the sea bass ... it was excellent! Compliments to The Chef. We also tried the 5 course option. It was entertaining, but there were noticeably long waits between each micro-plate (tiny) course. We did appreciate the beauty and creativity of each dish, and understand it takes time for such careful preparation. Unaccustomed to mingling what I consider dessert items (sorbet) with seafood or entree type foods, but I enjoy new experiences always! Perhaps those were intended as palate cleansers (?). Escargot and bouillabaisse are not on the menu, would love to see these traditional French fare added ... but understand these items generally aren’t appreciated / popular requests here. Overall value was worth the unique experience (I felt like one of the judges on Chopped tv show each time a new, interesting dish was set before me). The servings were small, but gave you enough room to try a few different things. Smaller portions are better for the waistline anyways! Wait service could’ve been a bit warmer. We did take awhile to decide what we wanted, & apologized to him upfront for that.
Always delicious and great service. Wonderful restaurant in the heart of charming Rancho Santa Fe! We love this restaurant and also like sitting in the bar area as well!
It has been almost 28 years since we last dined here and the evening was just as memorable. The food and wine list were outstanding (as expected). Also the service was very good, even for being a busy Christmas Eve. The ambiance and decor are beautiful. Only drawback of the evening was putting out table (for two) next to a loud, raucous party of 12, which did diminish the experience somewhat.
Excellent menu; food very well prepared; outstanding service by a staff who cares.
WE CELEBRATED A BIRTHDAY AND FOUND THIS PLACE TO BE EXCEPTIONAL.
The service, ambiance and food were topnotch. Certainly a wonderful place to go a special occasion.
Food was adequate, not great.
Ambiance is beautiful!
Server was attentive.
Mille Fleurs is the most competent restaurant in San Diego County. The service is top-notch without being cloying. Food is reliably very good, very carefully prepared, well composed and well presented. It's somewhat expensive, but paying a little less for mediocre food is a worse deal.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. It was a quiet night midweek which was perfect for an intimate meal. The restaurant is cozy so even though it was fairly empty, it didn’t feel like it because the dining areas are somewhat separated. I also thought the portions quite generous for French fine dining, which was welcome given the price. We will definitely be back!
Brought my inlaws in after raving about the restaurant for years. They just moved to Rancho Sante Fe and i wanted them to know great local places to go out to. The food was outstanding firstly as it was my first time dining here with the new chef. The issue we had was the terribly long time it took for our waiter to take our orders and then a very long lag time on our food arriving at our table. Inlaws complained to me of course about how the service was lagging. What can i say. Doubt they will return but I will gladly give it another try and hoping it was an off night.
Marco super wine expert
Amazing wine list
The new young chef seems to be still finding his way. It is still a French restaurant in atmosphere and service but now with an American large portion menu. The identity of the restaurant therefore is confused.
There are lots of fine American food restaurants around but that was not what Mille Fleurs was about.
So far something has been lost.
As usual the service and atmosphere was excellent. I thought the food was pricey and the portions were on the small side. There is a new chef. The quality of the food was excellent.
Went for a pre-holiday season lunch with a friend. Lovely prix-fixe menu. Service was lovely. Food delicious. Great wine compliments with our meal
