About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
Set at the end of a tranquil tidal creek on the Salcombe estuary, the Millbrook Inn is a hidden haven for those who enjoy good food, great wine and a pint of local ale.

The Millbrook Inn has a long-standing reputation as one of Devon's best gastro pubs. We take great care to source the finest local ingredients from land and sea, including from our own farm, and we prepare them simply and with love.

Our home - the idyllic village of South Pool – is easy to reach from Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes. When the tide is right, it’s only a short boat trip from Salcombe.

Whether by our homely fire or our babbling brook, we look forward to welcoming you to the Millbrook Inn very soon.

This is a lovely venue, tucked away in a Devonshire village. They were very welcoming, especially, as it was pouring outside. The food was excellent, especially the main courses of pea risotto and Hake. Service was very friendly, and the choice of wines by the glass was very good. A little Hem, and the perfect end to a lovely day

Slightly disappointed with the meal. Not cut of meat advertised, no difference in price offered. Mackerel was smallest fillet I’ve seen!

First visit this year and what a delight. We came up on the tide from Salcombe for dinner, on a calm bright evening, and were greeted by new manager Charles and his team - super friendly. Our meal was delicious, especially the Brill. Also lovely to catch up with Caitlin. We’ll be back in July. Thank you.

We arrived and were greeted instantly by a charming host (perhaps the owner or manager) who asked us if we would like to have a drink before our meal (often not done these days, sadly) and the log burner was on in the little bar, despite it being May but as it was a bit chilly that evening, it was so lovely to be welcomed with that too. Lovely beers and wines and super service. We were then taken to our table and we were served mostly by a lovely young girl who was sweet and charming. The food is really excellent and it was beautifully cooked and presented, the wines are lovely and the gentle and easy decor is a delight. I really wish this was local to me in Oxfordshire. It's how pubs and service and food used to be and should be but sadly often isn't these days. They are spot on and professional and I long to go back!

Dinner was incredible, service was lovely. We had the sharing steak and it was excellent value. One star knocked off because the wooden chair ruined my silk skirt! Overall, a total gem.

It had been a while since we had been to The Millbrook. However, it was probably better than ever. The new owner/host seemed genuinely pleased to serve us and was authentically polite. The food was outstanding. We chose the steak to share, it had that lovely charred taste, yet exceptionally tender. However we wished we hadn't had the charcuterie starter , which was amazing, as we couldnt finish it all!! I just wished I liked fish, as the table next to us had fish that was filleted at the table, that looked amazing too. We heard that it came from Looe that morning. We will definitely be back and hope it won't be so long next time!
