Mill Valley Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
Very pleasant ambience, more ambitious food presentation than the usual suburban place. Noise level: medium to medium-high, depending on how full it is; at half full it's fine. Plates are not huge--no worry about overeating--but everything on them is very good. Prices are in line with other restaurants of this type, but you are buying quality rather than quantity.
We wish there were more than one vegetarian main course option.
I have eaten at Mill Valley Kitchen twice for birthday celebrations. We were offered a free dessert on both occasions and it was served with a burning candle. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and was accommodating of food allergies offering suggestions for modifying a menu item. The service was fast. The sea bass and the chiopino were great at dinner and the happy hour afforded a chance to enjoy premium wine at reasonable prices. The lunch we enjoyed was very tasty. I used valet parking, a good option in cold weather. It’s a great restaurant.
I have eaten at Mill Valley Kitchen several times and was disappointed with this brunch. Sometimes the food is very good and sometimes it is not. This time I had the breakfast burrito. That is exactly what arrived on the plate with a little salsa. The presentation was non-existent. The burrito was disappointing in flavor and texture - I would not order it again. The music was too loud for a Sunday brunch experience and during our quick meal at least 5 plates were broken in the kitchen - hitting the tile floor. No refills for coffee were offered nor did the server ask if we wanted another round of drinks.
When we arrived we were told that speciality drinks and wine was half price until 6.
When the bill came the bill had the same statement on the bottom but we were informed after we challenged the waitress that the bill did not reflect the special. She said that non applicable on Saturday just started.
Either there should have been a sign on the table or frankly you should have honored what the bill and the waitress told us. Disappointed!
This is a wonderful selection for a great lunch or dinner. The menu is varied, and offers great vegetarian options. The food is excellent, and service is exceptional. Would never hesitate to dine at Mill Valley Kitchen for lunch, brunch or dinner. The menu always has some changes, and seem to try to offer seasonal options. There is nothing bad to say here .. great food, great service, great restaurant!
We chose to celebrate my mom’s Birthday here. Our food was cold, our waitress left us with empty water glasses and no refills for long periods of time, and more importantly, I put a note on the reservation we were celebrating a Birthday AND mentioned it to our sever, yet there was absolutely no acknowledgement for her Birthday on the restaurants end. I was shocked! We ordered dessert, and no candle and we paid full price for it! Not a stellar place to celebrate a Birthday, nothing special.
We were looking for a place to have dinner with friends we had not seen in many years. It was their first visit to the Minneapolis area. Mill Valley Kitchen was a perfect choice — good, healthful food, prepared and presented beautifully.
If I had one criticism, it is the same one I have of every restaurant: too noisy. Having a conversation is a part of the dining experience.
