Mill Street Tavern
Book your next event with us
What a wonderful evening on the upstairs patio full of appetizers and drinks! They also had some live music playing! Highly recommend.
Great views, and great food the value....nice wine list too!
Excellent food, great view, but prices were as high or higher than upscale downtown restaurants.
Went for lunch, had the Hash with egg over the meat of the day. It was very good. Drinks were well prepared and the service was very good as well. Will go back again.
We had made reservations for a Birthday brunch about 2 weeks ahead and were hoping to get a nice table. Unfortunately we had to sit tucked into a back corner, away from any window, with no view, next to the service station. This made it a very busy and uncomfortable environment, as waiters were constantly passing back and forth behind us. The food was ok. Our different waiters were nice and friendly, this was the only really good thing. We might consider going back for drinks outside on the roof top, but certainly not for inside seating.
Great Atmosphere! Awesome Brunch! Incredible views!
Overall, it was a decent meal. Service was great. There where quite a few flies in the window; although this can be typical for Shem Creek dining. I ordered the bbq combo. It was decent, but the ribs need some work. The staff was very accommodating and said it was new menu item and appreciated the feedback. I would give it another chance.
Food overall was C- or D at best. Steaks and burgers were low-quality, pork chop was OK. The fries they came with the burger were actually quite good, as were the collards. Definitely would not come back
We had a reservation, definitely wasn’t busy! Our host/ waiter was friendly and accommodating. My fried brussel sprouts were actually burnt which was disappointing but the meal otherwise overall was okay.
I had a reservation but my date cancelled on me so I decided to free up the table and sit at the bar (although not to drink). The staff was very warm and friendly and the food was delicious. I already recommended this place to a friend and we will be going this coming weekend.
Great location for drinks and bar food, but the brunch menu lacked excitement or interesting choices, and the food was mediocre. Out plates came heaped with cubed, deep fried (probably quick frozen) potatoes, runny eggs and sad bacon. Great location and the Blood Mary's were excellent tho...stick with drinks on the patio and bar food. I can't vouch for much else on the menu.
We are frequent to Mill Street Tavern and have always enjoyed our experience. Today we were terribly disappointed with the service. The waiter didn't show up for quite some time when we first arrived and the absence and lack of service continued throughout the meal. A couple sat down at a table next to ours at the end of our time there and we noticed that they were receiving the lack of service as well. Interestingly enough, when asked was it busy, he said "not really" Then where was he?
server was a very nice young lady , food form lady friends they loved, my bowel was ok. hush puppies
were super , will be back
Birthday Brunch! Was nice, food was very good, waitress was very accommodating, and so was hostess! It was an overall enjoyable experience! Will go back...tonight for my 50th Birthday in fact!! Can’t wait to eat from dinner menu!
Gabrielle was a fantastic server and provided great menu recommendations for us. We had an enjoyable evening and will definitely be back!!!
Everything except the Brussels was very over salted, almost inedible.
Mediocre food. Menu uninspiring, boring . No one else eating there makes you wonder how fresh the food is.
The biscuits were absolutely outstanding, the portions were huge and the service impeccable.
The space is charming, especially the bar area. Obviously a lot of thought and creativity went into the restoration. However, they really need to work on some things. We had a reservation, so we checked in with the hostess, and she said our table was getting cleared for us. So, we stood and waited, but we were in the way of the other guests checking in, the wait staff, and other people trying to get around. They should provide more room for waiting. It took at least 15 minutes for someone to get the table wiped off and reset. Then we were put in a booth that was very tight, and there was a large swath of bird execrement streaming on the outside of the window right in our line of sight. Gross! I ordered a mimosa with grapefruit instead of orange, and she brought me something, but there was no bubbles in it at all. Either the champagne was flat, or they didn't add any. My "straight up benedict" was just not that good. I've had much better biscuits at McDonald's, and the holandaisse was served on the side which just doesn't really work with eggs benedict. Very disappointed.
The food was average. My Eggs Benedict was cold but the has brown potatoes very hot. Obviously they waited for the potatoes and platted my food much earlier. The mimosa had barely any orange juice in it and the color of that was a weird yellow. And the service was bad. So all in all, not a good experience.
My husband and I arrived late in the evening so we were not able to see the beautiful views that you can apparently see of Shem Creek during daylight. There was a large party near us who were extremely loud so that was a little disappointing as we had to yell across the table to hear each other. But, once our mac & cheese appetizer appeared (which was wonderful!) and we had our drinks, our mood lightened. My husband made dinner from 2 appetizers: fried oysters and the Brussel sprouts. Both were fabulous! I was very disappointed in the house salad. Maybe it would have been better with grilled chicken or another protein (which you can get, I just opted not to). We will definitely be back but next time while it’s daylight so we can enjoy the views and I’ll definitely order the Brussel sprouts over the salad!
Had reservations for 7:45, had to wait 30 minutes to get a table. Which I didn’t appreciate. I had the lamb..to much mint and no flavor. Another person in our party didn’t enjoy his steak. Best of luck.
Our bartender/server AJ was amazing. It was my friends 30th birthday and he took such great care of us and made him feel VERY special. Food was excellent. The vegetarian options were the reason I chose to dine there. We will definitely be back!
Food was somewhat disappointing. Service was very good
Good food and great view of Shem Creek. Very nice seating. Will be back when the roof top bar is open.
Love your restaurant. Our short ribs were a little dry but still tasty.
prior to this, the only time I had been there was for brunch, which was AWESOME each time!
as usual, the staff is personable and attentive, however, not sure that I'd return for dinner...
I was told the they were out of (I assume the ingredients for) the first 2 cocktails I requested, (um) from the menu, which struck me as odd for 7:30pm on a Saturday night?
(isn't that PRIME time in the restaurant world?)
luckily, my 3rd choice was available
and then, my dinner companion was told that they were out of the FIRST item on the menu, i.e., the boneless short ribs, which I find ironic after the waitress-in-training shared how the Tavern is known for its smoked meats?
Everything was fabulous! Great wine selection & at reasonable prices.
My new favorite restaurant in the area. Great food, ambiance, service and beautiful view of Shem creek and the bridge. Authentic Irish pub architecture imported from Ireland makes it an extra special atmosphere. Kid friendly. Highly recommend.
The food was good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not bad. The server did a good job, but it was a long wait between ordering and having anything brought to the table. The restaurant was nice, furniture and decor was awesome, as were the bathrooms. Was hard to figure out where everything was. No bathroom signs. Almost fell down the last step outside...very dark and steps were dark. Need a couple little improvements.
The service was amazing and the food was everything we hoped it would be
We were only one of two tables in the restaurant on a Sunday evening. Our server was very inattentive and never came back to ask how things were. One in our party had a salad with beef that was way overcooked and another had a salad with shrimp which was under cooked. The rest of the food was just so-so and we felt the menu was very limited in it's choices.
We chose Mill Street Tavern because we had been before at a special event. The food and service was really good at that time.
Maybe this was just an off night but with hundreds of restaurants to choose from in the Mt. Pleasant/Charleston area, we will go elsewhere next time.
We went after church on Sunday for brunch. I made a last minute reservation, we didn't wait long. Our kids ate everything on their plates and some of ours. And we got out for less than we usually spend. Win/Win
Brunch there was nice. Very good food and large portions. They didn’t have a few of the menu offered drink items for brunch and didn’t have milk for kids. I’d also like to see the pancakes on the children’s menu but definitely a good spot to return and nice to have a place to spread out and catch up over a meal with friends.
Service was excellent and food delivered faster than expected. Nice atmosphere and just missed sunset but I’m sure it would be a great spot for it. Will be back!
Love the wood interior. Had a very good meal. Great service. We’ll be back.
40 minutes to get a few bloody marys. Something about being short on barware. I had to seek out the manager twice to find out about the delay. Small restaurant, not sure why he could not find me after I asked two servers for help. Food was average and slow arriving as well. They comped the drinks, but not enough done to get me to come back or recommend them to someone else.
Birthday brunch with ladies
Restaurant was nearly empty, server was very attentive, drinks were small and very weak and wine by the glass is very limited, but everyone enjoyed their meal and it's a good value for most items but steaks were a little expensive.
Fantastic bartender who also took our food order.
