I live nearby so convenient. A guitar & female vocalist provided bonus entertainment. The bench seats had inviting throw pillows. Service was enthusiastic & my request of no cheese in my Bolognese was implemented -- cheese was sprinkled on the zucchini fritter appetizer & spread so server didn't generalize. I asked for butter & individually-wrapped-in-foil slices were brought but tasted odd. The bread was warm & so so. The Bolognese tasted good, pasta was house made, & portion generous but wasn't meaty. The Vongole was watery & clams were in open shells. The garlic bread didn't taste garlicky & one end was charred slightly. A place you wanna like & tries but falls short.
Always a pleasure visiting Milan. Good food, nice setting with great service
Nice location, but food left a lot to be desired. The chocolate godiva cake was one of the worst desserts I have ever had! The cake was just horrible.
1. The restaurant was freezing because the kitchen ventilation didn't work. They left the doors open which made it VERY unpleasant.
2. The restaurant was full of kitchen smoke. When we left the restaurant it felt like we were covered in grime.
3. The polenta that came with my dish was full of under cooked clumps. My wife's seafood dish had several unopened mussels in in. On top of that my dish was covered in a mushy mess of over cooked vegetables. The calamari was also cooked to a rubber band consistency.
4. The waiter kept asking if we wanted the appetizer to come out first. Why is that a question unless the kitchen doesn't have it under control and food preparation isn't being managed.
Everyone in our party really liked the food. My lamb rib chops were excellent.
Great service and really wonderful food. Sea bass and awesome short ribs with polenta. Nice wine selections.
We had a lovely evening at Milan. The food and service were excellent. We will visit Milan again
We enjoyed our evening immensely! Will return to Milan again.
My only complaints are the bread they serve at the table is READY below standard, cold, and stale. The service can be a little slow.
Loved the food, the service, the ambiance and decor, highly recommend!
Service was prompt, food very tasty.
Live music was pleasant, nice touch.
The food was mediocre at best. My date has the sea bass which was overcooked. I has the short rib which was covered with some type of gravy and was passable at best. The ceasar salad had some type of lettuce which was not romaine and was dressed very lightly.
Over all even though the service was very good the food was not. I will not go back and since the restaurant was very empty on a Saturday night I can only assume that others feel as I do.
We enjoyed the food, and much better then the previous restaurant. The spaghetti and meat balls now, are huge. The pasta Francesca was great, and the pawns were large. Garlic bread was good and enjoyed the meal.
We had a fabulous dinner. The service by Vernon was excellent and they accommodated my allergies without any hesitation. My husband had the seared scallops and said it was one of the best meals he’s ever had. They even brought a chocolate Sunday to celebrate his birthday which was the perfect end. We have always had a great meal there, but this experience surpassed all others. Many thanks to the Milan team!
Great service! Waitress was very nice and helpful. Food was not so great. My daughter didn’t like her Salmon dish. My son hated his lasagna. He said Olive Garden/Giorgio’s lasagna was better. 😱. The linguine was bland. Linguine with seafood was kind of ok. Linguine dish with chicken was bland. Chicken tasted old. Pasta penne was fair. Creme brûlée was fair. Chocolate cake was good. Overall, Service great but food poor.
All was good and satisfying except the service although pretty good missed some items. We had to ask for water. We had to ask for the wine list. One entree was served before the other two. We had to ask for the dessert menu twice. The staff seemed oblivious to the vine branches in the face of one of us. The outdoor dining was lovely except for that.
We spent very pleasant time at this restaurant in the late summer evening. Great wine, great food, and great outdoor setting. I hosted my old friend visiting from Japan, and it was great setting to show him what the California is. We both enjoyed the dinner very much. Thank you very much!
dinner as always was excellent. Their short ribs are the very, very best!! My favorite here. And love their music selection.
I love this restaurant. A bit pricey, but the food is delicious and the service is really good. I wish they had a few more dessert items, but other than that.... love it and highly recommend.
Friendly and welcoming environment. Food is great. Service outstanding. Good location for family or with friends or date.
My lamb was very good. Chard and potatoes were nicely seasoned. My husbands clam and pasta was bland. He said more garlic and the offer of parmesan cheese wold have improved the dish. Our waiter was initially attentive. However when it got busier we did not see him. We had to request our wine from other staff to get our wine with our dinner.
Always a delicious meal! Martin was our waiter... extremely attentive and very personable!
Best bruschetta I have ever had. We love this local gem. Great food and service. Outdoor patio is also quaint.
Food was magnificent. Excellent flavors, preparation, and presentation.
Wait staff didn’t know to provide separate plates and utensils for split soup, appetizer, salad—had to ask. Wait staff very friendly and pleasant.
We will repeat. Wife looking forward to taking girlfriends group
We had really looked forward to trying Milan since the Evergreen area is lacking in nicer restaurants. In spite of our high hopes and positive reviews we saw, it didn't go well for us. Unfortunately, the best part of our meal was the bread and the salad. We ordered red wines by the glass which were served extremely warm - not even close to cellar temperature. We asked to split a beet salad and it was brought on a single plate. I ordered the Linguine Leonardo which was advertised as having a white wine caper sauce. It had capers but it primarily consisted of lemon juice (including lemon seeds), the chicken was overcooked, and the pasta was extremely overcooked (mush and nowhere near al dente), my date had the short ribs which he said were just OK. I had to ask for additional silverware because my place setting was incomplete. The waiter checked on us once during the meal but failed to note that our wine glasses were empty and did not ask if we wanted to order more, nor were our water glasses refilled. After our meal we asked to see the dessert menu, which he brought, then he failed to return for an extended period of time - too busy chatting up a couple seated at the bar. When he finally returned, we decided we were done with the place and asked for the check. It was a very disappointing dining experience and we'll continue to head to Palo Alto for better choices.
The service was poor, our white table cloth dirty. The champagne glass dirty with some caked on debris which was floating in the champagne. Our service was bad. The food was ok, but not with the price charged. This restaurant was a pasta pomodoro and the food and service still feel like it is. Seems like a restaurant in transition. If looking for a higher end restaurant go somewhere else. If looking for Italian there are many better choices.
We were seated right away and dined outside on the nice patio. The music was very nice that they were playing and created a nice ambiance. The chef served us a Heirloom tomato plate with cucumber and kalamata olives and watercress and a sprinkle of burrata cheese and drizzled with olive oil. while we were reviewing the menu. We split the beet salad which was the perfect size to split. They also served us with some hot bread with a butter spread. I ordered the Linguine Leonardo which is sliced sauteed chicken breast with spinach and a lemon caper sauce . My husband had the Lasagna the best ever! we had leftovers that were boxed up and enjoyed the next day. Our server was great and the restrooms were very clean. We will be back. BTW the manager was also excellent !
Absolutely fabulous, from the impeccable white tablecloth’s to the excellent service, I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you for the wonderful evening.
Excellent food and service. Christopher our server is so knowledgeable and his food recommendations are awesome. Celebrated my wife birthday with a blast.
We were most anxious to visit Milan having read about it recently in the San Jose Mercury News. We actually went for happy hour but when we saw there was Paella and Lamb Chops on the menu, we ordered dinner instead. We started with drinks, my husband got a Chianti while I had a gin and tonic. The bar uses very nice brands of both wine and spirits Our dinners were very good and large enough to take home for a second meal. The Paella was $30.00 and the lamb was $$38 and the two drinks were $12.00 as they were at happy hour prices. This is expensive for a shopping center restaurant but equal to a downtown San Jose restaurant meal. Had we have gotten the appetizers, four different kinds for $24.00 along with the drinks, the total would have been $36.00. We plan on going back for the happy hour appetizers and will come again for a special occasion dinner.
I cannot answer the recommendation question because my group and I were disappointed with our experience on Saturday. It took forever to get bread, meals were not warm enough, and the food lacked pizzazz. Truly, the only reason we went there is because it is nice to sit in the patio area on a warm day, but as for the food, the lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs didn't have much flavor. Also, the burrata dish was too heavy on the burrata. Sorry.
Excellent food, service and ambiance.
Cesar was very helpful in explaining the menu and making suggestions.
Milan wants to be fancy but isn't quite there -- for instance when we came to our table, the host set all 12 (4 people x 1 menu + 1 wine list + 1 specials menu) in a stack in the middle of the table, with 4 rolls of silverware, rather than handing them to us as we were seated. We had to ask for basics like cracked pepper, cheese, and extra water. The bread I requested to finish the last of my sauce on the porcini ravioli never came....
On the other hand, our server was very pleasant and friendly. A good attitude is half of good service.
Most importantly: the food was good, the cocktail selection and wine list were solid, and the patio ambience with the little vineyard, trellis, and garden lights make this a diamond in the rough.
We look forward to making this a regular stop.
Love this place. Used outdoor seating with our dog. Although it was packed service was great. Tried the new Sangria and it was a hit. We’ll be back next week!
Milan is really good now! I’m so excited to have a place like this so close to where we live.
Interesting place. The Paella seafood special and linguini pescatore were outstanding actually. It is is in Silver Creek area egret the old Pasta Pomodoro was, in a shopping stop mall with fast food places so kind of unexpected how good the entrees were. The owner was a delight to talk to and their bread pudding ( banana) was awesome as well. Only disappointment was the Calamari appetizer, as it was over cooked though came with a very good cocktail type sauce. Small but well priced wine list too. Will be back again.
A real neighborhood gem. Great selections of entrees. Tried the sea scallops which were cooked perfectly. Our server Valerie was professional and attentive. We’ll be back.
We enjoyed celebrating our anniversary dinner here! It was our first time and this place did not disappoint. Overall, we had a great dining experience. We opted to be seated outside and it was more than we expected. The food was delicious. The service was great!
I felt that the place was a bit over priced. Also, we went and unwrapped our silverware from the napkin and to my surprise, both the set fo silverwares had old food deposit on it. They were good to quickly replace it but what if I hadn't looked or what if it was dark and I didn't notice? I Wonder!! I liked the service but these small things make me feel that I am at a low quality place and shouldn't be paying the premium.
Had a great dinner. Our server Valerie was very attentive to our needs.
We would recommend Milan Restaurant to anyone who like ambiance & Great food. (-:
