   I love going to Mikko Nordic for Sunday brunch. It’s small and intimate on the inside and then has a large outdoor patio and enclosed patio space on R Street. The food is terrific and their bakery selections which can be packed up to take home is out of this world if you like Scandinavian flavors. Highly recommend the French toast (with Finnish Pulla bread made with cardamom) and the Salmon Benedict. This time of year, the Mikko bakery also offers Swedish and Finnish-style pastries called a Semla (or Semlor, plural) which are made from cardamom pastry with lots of sweet cream.

   A friend and I ate lunch in Mikko's outside space on Monday. She had soup and I had the seared salmon. Both were delicious. She also had a gluten-free seeded bread that was delicious. I plan to go back and buy a loaf.

   We ate lunch in their outside area on a 50+ degree day with a heater and we were toasty. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was excellent. We WILL be going back!

   It is a delight to be able to find excellent Scandinavian food and pastries in this tiny, tiny cosy restaurent. It has three small tables and two long bars inside, although when the weather is good or heat able with gas heaters, it has many more tables out side. If you want to be sure of being able to eat there reservations are a must in cold weather, and a good idea in nice weather as it is very popular. Mikko also does take out so if you get there and there are no table, don’t give up, the meals and pastries are too good to miss; just buy what you want and take it home or to a park to eat!

   We were looking for Nordic food and found Mikko online. It’s a very cute shop/cafe with solid food. It was pretty quiet on a cold winter Friday. They ambiance could have benefited from some music to lighten it up. Service was a bit slow but staff were very nice. We will return.

   Restaurant didn't honor the reservation. Arrived roughly 3 minutes prior to the reservation time and they said they just sat guests at the table. Told we could eat outside without heaters when it was 41 degrees out. This was the first time I had ever tried to go here so having been here I understand that it's a very small place but you probably shouldn't be on OpenTable then.

   This is one of the cutest, strangest restaurants I've ever been to. Both Mikko the chef/owner and Mikko the restaurant are charming, and the food is beautiful, fresh, and delicious. The only problem is the lack of indoor seating --- just half a dozen spots at a tiny bar and two small tables for two (there is lots of outdoor seating). I want to try everything on the menu. Don't miss the cardoman buns for dessert (available for take-out from the case in the front, too).

   So..unclear that they ONLY have outdoor seating. Staff kindly offered to seat us and turn on the heaters, but it was 12 degrees so…No. ordered food to go. Tasted good.

    Fabulous spot for brunch with outdoor dining. We tried the Swedish pancakes and Finnish pullah French toast - both were delicious! Highly recommended-we’ll definitely be returning to try some of those Nordic cocktails.

    Salmon and egg sandwich a bit stale, smoked buttternut squash soup tasted only of smoke. Could not taste squash at all. Paneer and rye bread appetizer was delicious.

    Made a reservation for 4, but when we arrived on a cold and windy day we were told there were no tables for 4 people inside, but that we were free to sit outside. Ended up sitting inside at the window counter which was tight for four people and hard to have a group conversation. The service was good and the food was excellent, but definitely a fair-weather cafe (not a restaurant as we had thought.)

    Friend in town and we wanted to check out our old neighborhood. Attracted by menu that’s such a nice change from everything else in DC and reviews by a friend who described it like a HS crush: “the brunch is dreamy. Order and split extra plates.” I’ll be back, and bet it becomes a regular spot when my friend visits, too!

    Awesome food and service in a pleasant patio setting. We enjoyed a beer and Long Drink along with the mushroom and tuna appetizers - the drinks were great and the apps were better - so tasty. For dinner we had the salmon risotto and the fettuccine and asparagus. Amazing - wonderful presentation, well portioned and great flavor. Salmon was delicious and the fettuccini sauce was just right - flavorful without overpowering. A great place to enjoy with a menu for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

    A group of us were in town for a conference and stumbled upon Mikko. We giggle a bit at the Nordic fair including many other ethnic ties but oh my goodness was the food delicious! Excellent in taste, quantity, quality and presentation.
