Sorry they don’t serve gougere at lunch! Onion soup excellent and everyone was happy with choices. Had dinner there previously and did lunch
Delicious food and stellar service. A+ all day
Could be what I ordered, but did not find my two choices to be extraordinary enough to justify the price, nor some of the rave reviews I’ve read. Portions are typical “French-sized” (small), but don’t seem very French-y to me, and no beautiful French bread brought to munch on pre-dinner. Been twice, and didn’t find the former meal to be memorable either. So, disappointing! But ambiance pleasant and service great!
Another great meal at Mikette. We went on a Saturday night for a birthday celebration. Everyone loved the food!
While I understand the economics of it, we were disappointed by the new trimmed down menu. It wasn't reflected on their website, so I was a surprise when we arrived. Service was just slightly inattentive on beverage orders - taking one and not checking the rest of the table a couple times. Overall still good, but not outstanding as it once was.
Food was delicious; note the portions are just medium (which we like). Service was poor; didn't ask us if we wanted a cocktail (so some of us ordered with our entrees), didn't ask if we wanted a second cocktail, didn't ask if we wanted bread for the table or coffee with dessert. Maybe he was new, but for the price, I expect better service.
A favorite gem in the North Campus area. Cozy comfort food and a place to get a good drink, talk over ideas with a hint of French cuisine
Dinner was tasty. We were a table of four. The beet salad was very nice as were the fried oyster sliders. As always, the GOUGÈRE were superb. We each had a different entree--steak frites, halibut, chicken Provencal and mussels. All very good. I'll pass on the creme brulee next time. Pretty dry. Tasted like it had been in the fridge for a day or two too long.
Be prepared to strain to hear your dinner mates. Background noise clocked in from 65 yo 75 decibels. Yes, one of our party has an app that measures this. All in all a very nice meal with friends.
Had lunch at Mikette. Tried three starters, and one main dish. Loved the starters, shrimp sliders, avocado/crab toast, tomato soup. Excellent flavors, good size portions. The beef stew was also very good. Had three deserts, vanilla ice cream, chocolate mousse, and creme brulee, wonderful! Service was prompt and pleasant. All in all, an excellent experience. We will be returning soon.
Great Food and atmosphere is nice. My only complaint is that I made reservations on open table and this is the second time my party of 4 had the table right next to the bathroom door. I had hoped that the first time was a fluke—I will make sure to request with my next reservation that I am NOT Seated there— it would just be nice to see more of the restaurant
Mushroom tart is to die for fun place to meet friends.
I used to frequent Mikette in the past and had not been there in a while. The restaurant has changed it's seating so that it is more open, less of a bistro feeling. The food choices were good, but surprisingly, there were no poultry choices available. We were there for lunch. Our drinks were very good. We had ordered the Mikette Sour. The food was good. However, all of our meals,, including appetizers, were lukewarm when they arrived, which unfortunately made the meal less appealing. We had flan for dessert, which was a bit on the heavy side. All in all, it seems as if the quality of food was not as good as it used to be. Or maybe...it was an off day? On the bright side, our waitress was very attentive and efficient.
One of our favorites, for celebrations or just a nice dinner. Everything we’ve tried there is worth a repeat. Well-run restaurant in a nice setting, with great food and service!
I have been to Mikette quite a few times and it is always enjoyable. The food is great and not over priced. The service has also been very good.
Felt let down. Food was generally good. But mostly tapas like plates. Nothing appealed to me, so hard to put a ‘meal’ together. Desserts were very good.
Their soups had too much salt in them - and I love salt. The salad was drenched with dressing; I always forget I HAVE to ask to have it on the side, or too often, this happens. Besides that though, soups were delicious and mousse was to die for (topped with whipped cream and shaved chocolate!)
onion chees fondue was delish! The four of us shared it pre meal. Burgers were amazing along with the truffle mayo for dipping the French fries in. The Duck Confit was very flavorful and my Dad loved his short rib dish.
Imaginative menu, cozy and inviting on a cold evening.
Nicely prepared food at lunch with very professional service.
The food is overall outstanding and unique. The beef burgundy was OK but not up to the French standard one would expect from this restaurant. The mussels, the mushroom tart and the chocolate mousse were excellent. One problem was that all the dishes were brought to our table within five minutes. Not clear if this was a waitress problem or a kitchen problem, but we managed!
Good combination of seating options, noise levels, casualness, great food, and friendliness. Have visited for several different types of occasions -- birthday, holiday, dinners with friends, ... Staff are very friendly.
Food quality was disappointing. Service was fine. Noise level unacceptable.
It was a lovely dining experience. Unfortunately we were sat next to a table with three screaming infants which killed the ambiance. Service was good, not as attentive as i would expect from a fine dining establishment.
Very nice, attentive waiter. He answered our questions about which wine to choose and was very helpful in general. The food was excellent, as usual.
It boils down to that this place does a pretty good presentation of some actually ordinary food, and the result is passable. For us tonight, the halibut was too salty, the pot pie was good and the burger was really just another burger on a brioche. The atmosphere is good, and some seats are cozy, so it can be a nice place to spend a couple of hours. It is fairly unpretentious. We will go back and I'd recommend trying it out, but I'd also recommend reining in your expectations.
We loved Mikey’s for our recent anniversary dinner. Great atmosphere and interesting food and wine. Looking forward to going back soon!
I am a repeat customer, and there’s a reason for that: the creative and accessible menu, the friendly waitstaff, and wonderful bar menu, happy hour menu, and last but bit least THE SANGRIA! I was there most recently for my birthday with family. Everyone found something tasty to eat, from the foodie adventurists, to the picky millennials. Thank you!
This was our second visit and it was definitely better than the first. The noise level seems to be a bit lower-we could actually talk to one another. The food was a bit above good quality bistro food. We did agree that things were too salty but overall we were pleased and will return.
our service was great, most of the small plates we tried were good.
We are NOT returning to Mikette.........for several reasons.........i think they have raised their prices unjustifiably and lowered their standards...........the fried chicken that i used to love is now Overcoated with stuff and several of our pieces were undercooked under all that excess coating.......they no longer serve the bread that was so good and it's So Loud that it's quite difficult to have a conversation in a normal range.......we both had indigestion half of the night........so why should we pay a lot of money for a not very pleasant experience?? I can't come up with any sort of reason either. (I should add that the service was excellent)
Our meal was a series of small plates, other than the beef bourguignon. that dish is excellent, and the others were very good to good. The chocolate mousse dessert was excellent. I was disappointed in the coffee which was supposed to be hot but ended up luke warm. (tasted great, though). I had the beet salad which would have been better with more cheese and greens; the meatballs, which were very good; the carrots, which were blah; ham croquettes, which were good. The ambiance is very active and noisy.
Happy hour oysters and gnocchi were top notch! Excellent service too. We will definitely return.
Overall a good experience regarding ambience and service but the food was inconsistent. Some dishes were undersalted, the gougeres were burnt but the lamb chops were cooked perfectly.
Great service. Sat outside and have about 5 different small plates between 3 people.
I really enjoyed the small plates menu and the creative drinks. Great little neighborhood spot.
Delicious as always. The food is always perfect, and it has been our favorite restaurant. Unfortunately they are moving to the “small plates” or tapas trend, which is frankly is not how we like to dine, particularly with friends as you never know how much to order and then I’ll is always higher than if you just got entrees.
Hopefully they will change back so we can revisit it.
Frequent diners at sister restaurants, Mani Osteria and Isalita, this was our first time to Mikette. For dinner, we shared several tapas items, all of which met or exceeded expectations, but the standout was the luscious pissaladiere tarte. Friendly, laid back atmosphere. Not sure where I read "business casual," but not true.
The food was average. We loved the gnocchi, we did not like the roast carrots at all. So bland and some undercooked. The octopus was good but the octopus to potato ratio was disappointing. We got mostly potato. The duck dumplings were average.
Most disappointing of all was our service. After we placed our order we did not see our server for A LONG time. We sat with empty drinks for quite awhile. Eventually the hostess came around and ended up taking our orders for another drink. I had heard great things about this restaurant but I was underwhelmed
The focus of the menu has changed since that last time we were here. Now offers more tapas than entrees. Calamari starter was tasty and the mussels were very good. Sediment in my wine was off putting but didn't seem to concern the waitress. Outside seating was lovely on a pleasant summer evening.
Thursday at 8 PM—Double date w old friends—Hostess was friendly and we were seated promptly. The table next to us was boisterous and since there isn’t anything structurally to dampen the noise it was hard to hear well enough for conversation until they left. Waitress was friendly and reasonably attentive for how busy it was.
Food came out accurately and quickly. The roasted branzino was flavorful and moist, octopus was tasty and tender. While some of the raw oysters we got were perfect and had plenty of liquor and the different mignonette sauces were interesting and delicious, a few of the oysters we got seemed as if they might’ve gotten inadvertently skewered by the shucking knife, and the one I got for my oyster shooter was almost in 2 pieces while still being partially attached to the bottom shell...not sure that I will get the oysters again, although the shooter was imaginative with slivers of jalapeño. Duck confit was a bit salty for my taste and a bit dry around the edges but hubby ate it all. Dinner companions ate up all their food too (crab dip w thin beautifully toasted crostini, lobster salad, and some kind of burger); they commented that the lobster salad was a bit salty but overall they enjoyed the food and would come back (they hadn’t been to Mikette before).
Overall—a fun place w friendly staff and interesting menu and flavors. Most of the food was well presented and tasted great, some was a bit on the salty side but we ate all of it. Not sure the person shucking oysters tonight had enough experience to do it correctly. Branzino was excellent.
