Mija Handcraft Kitchen is an artisan eatery featuring a variety of modern Mexican fare inspired by the Californian lifestyle. Made with locally-sourced ingredients, all of our recipes are vibrant, unique, delicious, & oh so bueno!

Chef and owner, Katherine Gonzalez, was raised in Southern Arizona. Her mother’s family migrated from Chihuahua, Mexico, and her father’s family from Spain. Growing up, there was always a pot of beans cooking, freshly made flour tortillas, salsa, and sopas fideo. Every celebration featured warm and delicious comfort food including her mom's famous tamales, chips, and fresh salsas.

Katherine began learning how to make her signature tamales, chips, and salsa. Over time, Katherine began to experiment with her family’s recipes to create different flavor profiles. She spent many hours learning the secrets to vibrant & tasty dishes which she is proud to share through Chúla Artisan Eatery and Mija Handcraft Kitchen!

Mija is actually shut down much to our surprise when we arrived. There is another restaurant (Dinah's Family Restaurant) that is now in the space and it's great but it's much more casual. They are known for their chicken and waffles and breakfast foods. Hopefully OpenTable updates and removes this restaurant soon.

The experience wasn’t great. The kitchen messed up our order twice and the servers seemed unbothered.

This is one of my favorite west side restaurants. Chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, the Guy Fiere monte cristo, the green chile omelette— all fantastic and generously proportioned. Service is friendly and professional

This was our first time at Mija, though I’d been wanting to go for a few months. I was not disappointed! Lots of vegan options, and they were willing to make a substitution to a dish that’s not described as vegan. The food was delicious, our server was great, and the place has a really nice vibe. I can’t wait to go again!

Mija was an amazing experience. The staff was extremely nice. The ambiance was perfect. My entire family loved everything about this restaurant. The food was all prepared using fresh ingredients and tasted exceptional. I tried the chilaquiles and my family ate the salmon, fish tacos, and flautas. This is the perfect spot to eat for any occasion. I cannot wait to go back!

The restaurant is cute and the vibe is cool. The service was absolutely horrible. The restaurant was not busy at all yet I had to get up and find our server multiple times times. Took over 35 minutes to get our initial drinks and appetizers. Wanted to love this place but will not be back.

Nice spacious place! Very good farm to table type delicacies! We dined after lunch, so we enjoyed the salads and a red velvet cake..

We had a lovely time, with wonderful service really good food. I am vegan, and there were some great options for me, as well as my none-vegan friends.
