Mighty Quinn's Barbeque-Upper East Side
The food was very good - it was basically a buffet or similar setup as Chipotle - you point at what you want. Food is served in cardboard plates, plastic silverware and glasses. Got the feeling that this is more of a takeout/delivery place. The servers behind the counter were very friendly and informative - as I was not familiar with the beers they had, they gave me tastings of the ones I was interested in. The total lack of ambience was understandable as it was obviously not a place to enjoy a meal in.
The BEST brisket! Love the kale salad and baked beans. Next time i'm in town i'll go back.
HI I made a reservation for the restaurant on Sunday and found a cafe like setting. I didn't need the reservation and the service was super fast and easy. The food was delicious, I certainly enjoyed myself. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Delicious!!! The location is Great! The staff is friendly and efficient!!
Excellent food, great service, and good prices, a must stop on the upper east side
This review is really a knock agains OPEN TABLE. The listing doen't tell you that its' a cafeteria style self-serve establishment with limited drinks with some in a self-serve refrigerator. If that's what you're looking for then fine. The food looked good and for another kind of night it might've been great but we were looking to sit down, get restaurant service and have a few cocktails. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN OPEN TABLE misleading us and wasting our time. HOPE TO COME BACK TO MIGHTY QUINN'S for another kind of night out.
Great BBQ. We had a person in our group with multiple food allergies and they did a great job making sure she was safe. It’s a definite stop when we’re back in the city.
We were disappointed in the uptown outpost of Mighty Quinn, which was surprising because we. have enjoyed the downtown branch a lot and always found it worth waiting on line for. We went to the uptown MQ's for my boyfriend's birthday with a party of five over Memorial Day weekend, and had actually made a reservation. When we got there, we were surprised to see that the place was empty--surprising, since the downtown MQ's often has a wait. We were soon to learn why. First of all, the atmosphere is dismal. It's too brightly lit so you really notice the way that everything looks unfinished, and frankly, sort of dirty. We also found the food lackluster -- dry brisket, just-okay ribs, truly icky, overly sweet "Korean" wings (I am not sure what actual Koreans would have to say about the use of their country's name on these, but I doubt they'd be happy), gross, gloppy Mac 'n cheese, etc.. We were also told that the "Bronto Rib," which we'd especially wanted to try, would take half an hour to prepare! No thanks!
Finally after paying a 20% tip on a $100+ meal at the register, we were tartly reminded to bus our own table after we finished. I guess the tip was to say thanks for ringing us up? I don't think we'll be going back, and don't recommend that you go either.
The atmosphere is nice and simple. Food was sub-par. The spare ribs were a big dried out and lacking in flavor. The beans had a strange taste. There was no service as the food is self-service.
Really nice brisket and burnt ends. Surprisingly, kale salad is really good. Skip the mac and cheese, it is mainly soggy bread crumbs. Good beer options.
Awesome - great BBQ in the city!
It was my girlfriends birthday and I made reservations prior because BBQ is one of her favorites and saw that "Mighty Quinn" was supposed to be one of the "best in the city". We arrived early and it was cold outside. The lights were off but we checked the doors and they were unlocked so we decided to look in nearby shops to wait for "Mighty Quinn" to actually open. When we went back to "Mighty Quinn" they were still not open but the doors were still unlocked so we went inside. Once inside a gentleman met us and we explained that we had reservations but were early and asked if we could just look at the menu while we waited. We were told that was fine by said "gentleman". I was looking at the menu while my girlfriend stood by the door because she was uncomfortable because of the way the gentleman made her feel by acting hostile towards us. A young lady who was very nice was met by the same gentleman (both employees of "Mighty Quinn"). The lady asked the same gentleman if we could order and the gentleman told the lady that no one was allowed in the restaurant before it was open as he brought out a mop and bucket to mop the floors (then why were the doors left unlocked and why were the floors not done at the end of the shift before)? It was so uncomfortable by the way he kept saying no one was allowed in the restaurant that we left and went to an establishment next door and had a wonderful experience. I built up the experience for her before we got there because I was excited to do this for her and in return she was very excited to go. I guess it was my fault for not actually going first and checking the place out but I trusted what I read. I hope someone reads this. I truly hope it will be a great experience for you but it was NOT for us.
Excellent self-service BBQ.
I made a reservation but this is a self-serve restaurant and you had to find your own table. Don’t know what the reservation was about. Food was mediocre at best.
Extremely bad service, staff was rude and there was no food left. We had made reservations months in advance and found out when we got there that they were closing early.
Will not recommend or come back
I had the brisket and blacken ends. The food was excellent and the BBQ sauce was amazing. I also had the corn fitters which were steaming hot and delicious. Highly recommend and I will be going back for more.
It was awful ! Sticky & wobbly tables! Just a bad experience.. stay away. It is evident the propieter takes no pride in ownership!
If it were free I’d recommend you take it home. Place is gross.
Food was delicious and very reasonable. I didn’t realize I would have to wait for a table to open to sit but it wasn’t long. Would have liked a little bigger portion size but overall it was a great meal and we look forward to returning.
I had been hearing great things about Mighty Quinn's for a while and was excited to try it. My first clue that it wasn't going to be that great was the fact that there were only 2 other diners at 1:30 pm. I ordered the burnt ends, creamy slaw and corn fritters. All of the meats and hot sides were sitting on a steam table - clue #2 that this might not be good. The burnt ends were so dry that I could only eat about 1/4 of the serving, the corn fritters were dense and absolutely flavorless (and not hot) and the tiny $4 serving of slaw was very generic - as a matter of fact, I've had better at diners - and bland. The only good things were the pickled cucumbers and the actual barbecue sauce. So not worth the money.
Maybe a few more smiles from the people working there, may bring people back
Very good barbecue. I thought it would be a sit down restaurant. Instead, you order at a counter, carry your own food to your table. The positive is the Barbeque is excellent. Also, good happy hour prices on beer. A very good casual restaurant.
This place is filthy. All of the sides are left out uncovered and the tops are hardened over. We walked in and walked out. Go to the East Village location for a decent meal.
Great BBQ. Best brisket in town!!!
It was almost empty but then again it was a weekday at lunch so happy there wasn't a huge crowd. The service was very nice and friendly. You go over order your food and they even bring certain dishes to the table. Would the food have been "hot" (temperature wise) maybe better. The burt ends had a lot of fat, it wa luckewarm at best the mac and cheese lukewarm.
The Manger was extremely nice and the staff too. I have to say service wise they go out of their way. I wish I would get this service eveyrwhere I go even to high end places, the service is not always as good as this place. Really nice staff.
Food wise, I really wanted bbq but this misses the mark at least at lunchtime when I went.
This QSR self service restaurant. No reservations are honored.
The bbq itself was good; the staff was friendly and helpful. The sides, on the other hand were overpriced and disgusting. The Mac n cheese was a bowl of tasteless cream and chunks of bread and mushy pasta shells.
No respectable bbq joint would serve such atrocious sides.
Good Bar B Que all around. They were out of a few items but I will give them the benefit of the fact that it was 4th of July and an hour before closing time. Staff very friendly.
Don't be fooled by this place being on OpenTable. My girlfriend and I went expecting a table for two in an upscale BBQ joint. Not the case. If you go expecting to bus your own table, clean your own tray, it should be fine. Just don't think that you'll be getting a table for two with a view. Not that kind of establishment, despite being on OpenTable.
