Food was excellent. Very fresh. Tuna sashimi melts in your mouth. Service was excellent. I requested a corner table when I made the reservation and that's exactly what we got.
Place is nice, food is good, service is great.
This was Avery special meal.
It's great for lunch, dinner or anything in between. The Butternut Squash Soup with Cocoa foam was DELIGHTFUL! Can't wait to go back (next week ;)
Mifune is seen great for its display on its official website, and that is why I decided to pay a visit here. When I visited here for lunch, the ambiance was good, but not so quiet. There is some extra charge for lunch in the restaurant week's menu, like desserts and some toppings. The dishes were good for the looking, and tasted good, except the rice was a little bit salty, and the sashimi made me not so comfortable for my stomach afterwards. Service was good.
Restaurant week but ended up we paid $90 not too impressive but okay for everyday dining
I loved it! Would definitely go back again!!
4th visit and it continues to perform in all respects. the maitre'd is especially welcoming
Plates were not cleaned when given to us.
My experience at this restaurant was nothing short of excellent. The service was great, the food flavorful, the cocktails creative.
Dinner was nice I felt it was overpriced. Hamachi (yellowtail) wasn't the best cut since it wasn't the belly portion, but the salmon was nice.
Came for my girlfriend’s birthday and had the omakaze. Excellent meal and experience overall. It did take three hours to finish which was longer than expected but not an issue for us.
We sat downstairs, which is better for privacy. I would have preferred to sit upstairs as far as ambiance goes. We tried the New Year's Eve menu, which was a great value for the quality and the wine and saki pairings were very thoughtfully planned. Service was great and the server was well informed. I would definitely recommend eating at Mifune.
The best Japanese food inn the York
I made a reservation for a table, but on arrival they told me that all tables are taken and I have to sit on countertop. Right, who cares about my reservation? Then because of the other party cancellation they told me I got lucky to get a table now. I thought that was enough for ruining my dinner and poor service, but they continued with long Inattention and misunderstanding of the order. I was watching table next to me with asian guests and they had quick and perfect service, so probably at Mifune owners and staff are discriminating or not welcome others. I’m Very disappointed, and it was waisted time and money!
Best Christmas Eve dinner ever!
We reserved the Christmas Eve dinner and no regular menu available (we were expecting the uni toast and goose liver don). The Christmas dinner was too salty for us.
Sushi was excellent and service was great. The decor and setting was more mainstream. Strange it was not more busy.
The food was delicious and everything was beautifully presented on the most lovely plates and bowls. We loved everything.
Our overall experience at Mifune was just so so. Our waitress was not knowledgable in the tasting menus, often needed to check with others. She also has no idea on the sequence and number of courses. For a higher end Japanese restaurant in midtown Manhattan, I do expect they serve dishes on the correct side of the diner, when reaching for used dishes and pouring wine. There is no such training offered from the staff.
Thank you for hosting us, looking forward to seeing you again
Great food and tribute to a great actor.
Very tasty and nicely presented
Great food, great service. We had the fall omakase with the sake sampler. Nothing was rushed and the good was prepared with precision and artistry. Highly recommended.
Enjoyed the birthday dinner at Mifune. Fois Gras Sabayon rice was pretty unique, smoke lambchop was very tender and flavorful. Greatly presented the Japanese French fusion cuisine.
First class all the way. A true celebration of food.
Exceeded the expectations. food was awesome and service was great
Came for thanksgiving. Very delicious and interesting food. As the pairing was mostly wine instead of sake we grabbed a very nice bottle of sake for $50. Staff were super attentive and kind.
Unique dining experience. The design of the restaurant is unexpected and fun. The menu is distinct and delicious. Very capable and friendly service. We fully enjoyed the evening.
It took over 1.5 hours since we ordered to get our food even though the restaurant was not busy. We were given lots of apologies for the ‘delay’ and the reason was that everyone was ordering sushi. An answer I found very laughable. Apparently the downstairs sushi section gets priority since they pay a $250 minimum or so we were told.
The food was good when it arrived but maybe it was just that we were all starving by then.
Too bad the service and food delays sucked. Would not return.
Sukiyaki was very bad. The meat definitely did not taste like wagyu or good wagyu. Fatty blue fin tuna was probably the worst toro I have had. Foie gras over rice was average but not impressive.
Food is always excellent but rather a place to go for a special occasion as the prices are quite high. Would recommend it though!
Great for lunch! Food was delicious and consistent
The food is decent. It was not in our expectation that it is a fusion restaurant. We thought it was an authentic Japanese cuisine. However, the food and the service is good. We got the tasting menu, and it took about 2 hours for everything to complete. There was a 5-10 min period between dishes at one point.
We did the tasting menu for my daughters birthday. It was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend. Also make sure you come hungry. I couldn’t believe how much food we ate.
Excellent food. Service was slow, and 2 of 3 entrees came out together. After a long wait we had to ask about the 3rd one, which finally came out. Inconsistent service is frequently an issue here.
It could have been better. Chirashi I preferred was not bad. In fact there was nothing wrong with the food. It was essentially omakase, I ordered extra pieces of sashimi that are not in the chef’s choice however I ended up having double portion of Uni. Same goes with sake flight. They swapped one of the sake without telling me the one I ordered was “out”. The place could be benefit from staff training.
Nice food and ambiance
