Had the tasting menu. Food is creative, very tasty, and well presented. The service was fantastic and definitely will return!
My husband and I had a wonderful omaske dinner at MiFune on a rainy Friday night. If in the area, I would definitely recommend this spot to those who like high quality Japanese food.
When we arrived for our 8:30 reservations, the restaurant was packed and very loud. The host offered to let us sit at the sushi bar which was considerably more quiet, but right next to the door (so a little drafty and distracting). We ordered the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was amazing - well presented, VERY tasty...and more than sufficient. I would definitely order this again! The wine pairing, however, was less interesting and the wait staff weren't able to tell us anything more about the selections other than the varietal of grape (or saki). For $65/person, I think it was overpriced. Next time I would skip the pairing and just order a nice bottle of Saki or Wine.
Food is great, but they only offer Happy Hour at the counter where is a bit cold when it’s cold outside. They need to have more food options to offer.

Birthday celebration. I came here for restaurant week and fell in love, and decided if there were special occasions this would be the place to bring family to!!!! And they were not disappointed at all. The quality of the sashimi and the tempura and the nigiri to the soy sauce and wasabi were all of top quality!!!! And the presentation was also top notch !!
Food was amazing. Really cool restaurant. A little dead on a Friday night, but the food makes up for the lack of a scene
Miss Moore was confused by the number of little little dishes, how to eat them and in what order . It was a nippy day and the soba duck broth sounded promising but it arrived deconstructed with a pile of noodles and a cup of rich broth. Miss Moore is never at her best with pasta , particularly without a fork to genteelly twirl it with, and she chose the discretion of having but a tiny bit to the valor of slurping it before the Comte il Fromaggio , who managed his three tiered chirashi with Florentine elegance .
Heartily recommend this restaurant. Didn’t do the sushi because the menu was well worth exploring.
From cocktails through appetizer & entrees to desserts, it was a great meal.
This was a dining experience, more than a meal.
Will be returning to sample more of the wares.
The service is fairly good and the decoration/ambiance is plain but clean and presentable. The quality of the ingredients in the dishes is good enough. The presentation was sold too.
The only major issue with this restaurant is the taste of the dishes. They were all pretty underwhelming. From overly cooked and chewy braised fish to bland miso soup and non-authentic tasting Japanese side dishes, I was sorely disappointed by all of the dishes. Unfortunately, this is not a restaurant where you want to bring fans of Japanese food.
My place to go to for business dinners. Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere for a business lunch, very efficient. Good set luncheons, very good value for money. (Never went for dinners because I don’t live in the neighborhood).
Great place to go to team lunch, date and VIP hosting.
The sushi and A5 wagyu are so great! Miso soup is a little bit salty.

Last time we were at MIFUNE it was for Valentine’s Day dinner... this time we went back for the regular menu... and MIFUNE didn’t disappoint... every item was delicious... sashimi was super fresh... the lamb chops melted in our mouth... as usual...highly recommended
Very good food all around, but I would still say the prices are higher than they should be for the portion size. While MIFUNE does use great ingredients I still believe similar restaurants have achieved lower prices for larger portions of similar ingredient quality. Also, the restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was great. However, it was a bit odd that there were open seats around my table and they sat a pair directly next to us. It was a bit distracting being so close to another table when there was definitely the option to give some space. Still, very great food, service, and was a nice evening overall.

They have very limited menu, very few rolls unless you want pay $85, very few fish, no seaweed salad, no brown rice. I had salmon with sauce like terakyi not as good. I wouldn’t recommend for sushi or fish.
I wish I could recommend Mifune; the food was very good. But the service was almost comically terrible. Nobody asked for a drink order -- I had to flag a waiter down. We gave him our drink and food order, and we then waited nearly half an hour for our drinks. After more than an HOUR without any food, we asked to speak to the manager, and told her we were thinking about leaving. She apologized very nicely....and it then took another 20 minutes for us to get our sushi. During which time nobody refilled our water (again, I flagged a waiter), nobody asked if we wanted refills on our drinks...nothing.
The sushi was delicious, and so were the cooked dishes that followed....but one of the dishes we had ordered never showed up. The manager wound up giving us a discount on our meal, which was both welcome and appropriate....but not enough to bring me back. While I am not privy to what was going on backstage, there seemed to me to be plenty of servers to handle the number of diners. All in all, Mifune felt not ready for prime time.
Walked in for an 8:30pm reservation we had made months ago and found a sea of angry couples breathing down the necks of the service staff because they all had been waiting for over half-an-hour to be seated for their reservations.
We were there for Valentine's Day, so it made sense that it was uniquely crazy for them. With this in mind, my partner and me waited patiently near a standing table and a glass of complimentary champagne.
Eventually, we were seated. Eventually, they were able to take our order (which was just a fixed menu) And, eventually the food came out. It took over 3 hours for them to bring 7 small dishes. Thankfully, we had a bottle of wine because the food was surprisingly bad, except for the desert – that was amazing.
Overall, I can't ever go back to a restaurant whose process resembles a three-stooges routine.
TL;DR – $500 valentines day dinner ruined by overbooking, overcooking and understaffing, took 3 hours to get all the food.
Delicious tasting menu for Valentines Day. Efficient, polite and friendly service.
However, they had crammed in too many couples in to the restaurant i.e. you were sitting elbow to elbow with another couple - not that romantic! They should have had circa 5 fewer tables - less profit but a more enjoyable experience for that price, meaning customers would return and not feel like the restaurant was trying to cash in on as many diners as possible.
The Valentine’s Day pre-fix dinner menu was amazing! Each and every item was delicious... service was also impeccable... highly recommended
Loved dining at Mifune. The staff was warm and welcoming and the food was delicious.

This is a real find! The Restaurant Week lunch was delicious, and generous: homemade mushroom tofu amazing. Sushi very fresh and tasty; salad a good mesclun with unique dressing. Service was excellent, caring, attentive yet unobtrusive. Back room noisy when full, but sushi bar quieter. We will definitely return.
Went with a group for dinner and we each had the $85 tasting menu. The food was quite good and had lots of variety. The amuse bouche (cauliflower soup; various other bites on a shared plate), beef, and pressed anago were particularly delicious.
Service was very friendly. Although the downstairs tables look very open, we had just the right amount of privacy to enjoy an intimate meal while at the same time not being cut off from the rest of the restaurant.
The service and food was great, but not that impressive based on the price.
The staff were friendly and the decor was nice, the food was good and the prices were reasonable.

There is a couple of time we got smthin we didn’t order. But overall the food is good.
The sushi is good, however I am not very discriminatory/critical of sushi as long as it's fresh fish. I also had the 3-course menu for RW and I would say it's a good value for $42 dollars for three course meal. I had the potato with lamb appetizer (4/5), the beef curry (3.5/5), and the chocolate gateau with matcha mousse (3.5/5). I'd say it's worth it for Restaurant Week and I'd consider going outside of RW.
delicious , authentic Japanese food of the highest quality. The service is very polite and one never feels rushed.

I have read several excellent reviews of Mifune NY. But I have to say that the experience of going to dinner at Mifune is far away better than expected. For a Movie Lover, the photos of the great Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, at the entrance wall, is a great start. The A5 Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu made in the stone is not only delicious but really fun to prepare. The red shrimp with caviar (starter) is also outstanding. And the chicken rice os out of this world. Mifune NY is a place to go. Several times.
One of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Chef Yuu is superb. I don’t believe there is any place compatible in the city in terms of unique dishes. I’ve been several times and will hi again.
The food was great, except for the constant interruptions by another client. She was very persistent and high maintenance. Every time a waiter came up to my table to check on me, she would immediately interfere. She was annoying and rude. Other than that, everything else was good.
The food for restaurant week was absolutely terrible. I am not sure how their actual menu is , but based on what I had in their set menu I would not recommend this place. The waiters also asked if I was okay too many times. It didn't give me or my date any peace to talk in private. This place is extremely overpriced for what they offer and I would not recommend it.
