MIFUNE New York
MIFUNE New York takes traditional Japanese cooking that places supreme importance on the seasonal
bounty of the land and sea—and reimagines it using French technique to create innovative, artistically
Mifune is in a funny place. It supersedes the more-popular Sakagura one block away in overall quality and presentation, although the range of food and sake doesn't compare, and isn't meant to. It's not as good as Aburiya Kinnosuke one block north, but the dining room is more elegant. Unlike those others, it does serve sushi, not typical of an izakaya or kappo ryori, and the sushi was damn good: better quality and selection than many supposed higher-end places these days (not as good, of course, as Sushi Yasuda, also a block away). Sashimi, then, was also very good, and the tempura was lighter and tastier than most, too. Be careful of the counter seating -- usually a good bet at a place such as this, but because of the weird set-up it feels more like a hallway (the door is RIGHT THERE) than a quiet dining experience. The main room with its large kamon is surprisingly airy. A bit on the pricey side, about $100 per person without drinks. Still, very much worth a visit especially when the other places nearby are all booked up.
The food was great along with the service. I ordered a rice dish that took very long, they had a great recovery and sent us some french fries while we waited. Eventually, I tried cancelling the dish because it took so long, they took it off the bill and gave it to me to go. I will definitely go back and highly recommend their happy hour menu, available until 8pm.
Absolutely unbelievable Dinner we both had the chefs tasting menu. The execution was exceptional. Waiter service was very professional and accommodating. The food was world class with particular highlights being the butter fish nigiri, the Argentinian grilled shrimp, and the scallops. The intense flavors and combination is like a work of art. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate. Highly Recommended
Great japanese spot - lucky to be visiting on its 1 year anniversary. Beautiful space with nice flatware. The food is very delicious with a flare on the traditional japanese flare. They use some upscale ingredients but do not over price the experience. The saki and soju list is just right. The only bad point was a bit of a stumble on service and expediting the end of the meal.
Overall I would come here again with friends or for business!
Extraordinary, exciting, exquisitely presented dishes. Great ambiance and staff.
Muy bueno, comida, servicio, TODO
Great value for lunch, not so much for dinner
I enjoyed the food and the service at Mifune greatly. I recommend the miso black cod, it's delicious! We also tried the tuna temaki off of the specials menu and it was fun and different.
Great place. Very nice people, professional service and excellent food.
Will definitly coming back again!
Great experience ! The chefs came to the table. The service was fantastic ! The waitress was very attentive and professional.
Excellent on every front! I will be going back soon.
It was a fun girls night out! Thank you for the amazing food and friendly service!
We went specifically for the ‘make your own roll’ which is where they bring out a slab of tuna ribs and you scrape the meat off. A very unique experience. Menu was somewhat limited but good and service is fantastic.
Everything was great. My friend and I sat at counter and service was great and food and presentation were amazing.
Excellent food, wonderful service, overall the best food experience I have had in New York.
Great food, attentive service.
Food excellent. Great presentation. Unusual menu options. Very willing to accommodate special requests. Service very good. Ordered saki, which never arrived. Tried 3 times.
food taste is fair but service operation is terrible. despite there are many waiters and waitress, we have to wait over one hour to get French fries. I don't think I'll come back there.
Great time and food, signature cocktails really tasty and interesting. Highly recommended.
Very pleasant staff and authentic Japanese food. Not packed seating is also a good point of this restaurant compare to other Japanese restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Mifune lives up to the hype! My girlfriend and I went out for my birthday. Henry (our waiter) was excellent; a true hospitalian! I look forward to my next visit. All the staff was great. I love the Seven Samurai cocktail. I hope this restaurant sticks around for a long time.
Food was great and the ambience was good. I gave 4 stars only because it took 20 min between 2nd and 3rd courses of our tasting dinner. We had to keep asking since it seemed they totally forgot about us. And the steak was gamy.
They have so amazing foods and atmosphere!! I really enjoyed there so much, so hopefully come back soon :) Also, I'll recommend my friends.
Everything was great except for the speed of the service. Wish the food came out faster. I liked the food, everyone was nice and polite, and it was not too loud, which was pretty rare for a new york restaurant.
The service was very poor and slow. No one came to greet or seat us for quite some time. No one came to take our order, we had to call someone over. The food, presentation and ambiance of the restaurant were good though.
The tasting menu is always a moving experience
It was our anniversary and the restaurant was very accommodating. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and polite. Food was fantastic (we got the 8-course tasting menu). Overall, would highly recommend.
friendly and fantastic, if you dont want the tasting mean, just try everything from specials
Good service and great food.
Lunch special is great .
Delicious food and exceptional hospitality!
excellent selection of the freshest sushi. I had the impressive and delicious tuna scrape- unbelievable. Great service. Tasty specialty drinks.
Unbelievably creative and delicious food! Something for everyone and very attentive service. Will def be back here again!
Not bad but not as great as I thought it would be. Worth about $50!!!
The course menu was classic and delicious! The cocktail was my favorite.
Excellent Japanese cuisine. Goes well beyond sushi. pricey but worth it.
Was there for a business lunch. Food was delicious - I had the miso cod. Loved the lunch set - it was more than enough food. Also can hold a conversation without having to raise my voice. Service was attentive. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
Food was very tasty and the service was top-notch. Thank you!
Great starters. My girlfriend has duck for main dish which was tough and chewy. I had filet and it was cold. Other dishes were really nice though.
