Midtown Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Service was excellent but food left much to be desired considering price point. My wife's veal was drenched in sauce, and fried cutlets were VERY soggy. My meal was ok, but considering the plethora of excellent restaurants in Nashville, I'd recommend a different restaurant for a special occasion. While this restaurant has a great rating on open table, I would not recommend and do not plan on returning.
We went there to celebrate a friend’s birthday and told them ahead of time. Our waiter, Scott seemed to discourage ordering dessert and never offered any coffee. Since 20% gratuity was already included he didn’t appear to make any extra effort . At one point he told us he was only taking appetizer orders. He was unapologetic when any food or drink needed additional cooking or the wrong item was delivered. Overall, The risotto and chicken scallopini were delicious as were the Brussels sprouts and lemon artichoke soup. Unfortunately, the service was slow and did not live up to the delicious food .
Outstanding gathering point for business or personal conversation. Food is superb (quality, variety, abundance) ... staff even more so (kindly, attentive, skilled) ... and price point is certainly reasonable. Would highly recommend this spot ... my FAVORITE go to place for conversation for breakfast or lunch. An added feature is the hospitality of owner/manager Randy Rayburn ... few are more amiable and few make you feel more appreciated. And yet another important feature ... they serve breakfast for lunch, my favorite!!!!!! ... Avi Poster
We had a fabulous time at our favorite spot! It is a quiet, tucked away gem! Service is always impeccable not to mention the food on the menu. We always check the specials, but end ordering our favorite as seen below, the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It is to die for!!!
The service cannot be beat...literally the best attitude, care, kindness, and smile. Felt like she'd known me forever being so wonderful to me! The food was delicious and very right portion and time for preparing, and the wine paired nicely. What a fantastic experience with nice food and great service!
We felt rushed the whole time. We went in thinking we'd be there for at least an hour or two enjoying wine, dinner, and dessert, but ended up in and out in 30-40 min. The wine and crab cake appetizer were good. My husband's veal was rubbery and the spinach side for my grouper tasted very odd, almost burnt. Once finished, the waitress did not ask if we wanted to look at a dessert menu nor if we wanted another glass of wine, and instead just dropped off the check. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Visiting Nashville for UGa vs. Vandy game and to have dinner with our great niece who is in school there. After checking out several restaurant menus, we chose the Midtown Cafe from Open Table’s list. Of interest were a wide selection, location near to us, and recommendations from reviews. It was an excellent choice. Pleasant bar tucked off to one side offered a comfortable spot to await others in our party as we were a bit early for our reservation. Dinner selections included a tenderloin filet (cooked a perfect rare), prime meatloaf (house speciality comfort food), and seared tuna steak with stir-fried veggies (rare and tender). This was a really nice spot. Efficient, attentive staff; moderate noise level even on a busy Sat. Nite; and wide selection of entrees sure to please everyone. Would definitely return when in town.
A great evening. Dining at Midtown Cafe is an event. An enjoyable event. More than just a meal. And the meal was superb. Mike, our waiter, attended to our every need. His wine recommendation was perfect. A great evening out with my friend. I have dined here several times. Will return.
Dinner with friends before going to concert. Been awhile since we have eaten here. Was not disappointed. Everything was excellent. Two had mountain trout and two had crab cakes. Both entrees were superb. Coconut cake was perfect. Ending to a great meal. Waiter very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Free shuttle to our concert was an added bonus. Great experience!! Will definitely be back.
I am a part of a group that eats out every Wednesday night at various restaurants throughout Nashville. We like to try new restaurants, but have a few mainstays we return to frequently. Midtown is one of them. This restaurant never fails, the staff is outstanding, and my group always enjoys our experiences here.
