First time dining at Midtown Café in many years. Nashville is a trendier place now with many dining options but the newer restaurants are hit-or-miss in terms of service and meal quality. Midtown Café is reliably good. Highlights of the meal: melt-in-your-mouth salmon and keylime pie.
This was my 2nd time dinning at Midtown, and it was as enjoyable as the first. The wait staff is excellent, which is almost more important than the food. And, the ambiance is wonderful. I also enjoyed the food. In addition, the added value of the shuttle service makes Midtown Cafe a Top-10 location for dinning and special occasions.
We had a delightful lunch as always.
The food was excellent, but the service was a little off. When three of our party were seated, we were still awaiting the arrival of two of our party. While we were waiting we were never asked if we would like something to drink. I had to flag down our waitress and ask if I could order a drink. When she took our dinner orders, she walked off without taking mine (the host.) Aside from these oversights, the meal was great. I will certainly return.
Always a pleasure to dine with Randy and crew. Food and service outstanding.
Always consistent in service and culinary delights. Friendly and efficient. The shuttle a lifesaver for older guests
We have probably celebrated five of our 25 anniversaries at Midtown. Food is exceptional and service is top notch. ‘Dale’ waited on us this time and made us feel at home. Lemon artichoke soup is a favorite along with veal Three Way.
Birthday and Symphony
Great food and incredibly attentive service. The mussels start was tasty. The catch of the day was well done. The bottle of wine was both tasty and reasonably priced. All around great dining experience.
My wife and I found this place on Open Table and just loved it! Our server was great and the food was delicious!
The avocado toast was excellent. The smoked gouda grits were amazing! Would definitely return.
Awesome food and service. Innovative with great choices. You will not be disappointed...
Way to loud. Hard to carry on a conversation
Great menu and food!
I went to brunch with my grandmother because I was off of school today. We got there around 10:30 and it was empty. The food and service was great and it was nice and quick. I will defiantly be going back!
We were there for our belated Valentine’s celebration and we’d heard great things about the place, but it was pretty miserable.
We started off with two Caesar salads, which were both dry and had wilted, discolored lettuce. My girlfriend ordered the filet, which came out deliciously. Potatoes were great.
I got the shrimp pasta, which was a Valentine’s special. The sauce was runny and the pasta seemed unseasoned, bland, and soupy. I had an Old Fashioned which was good.
The service was pretty slow and inattentive. No one came to check on us and see how the food was until it was time to clear the table.
All this to say, if I’m spending $130 on dinner, everything should be delicious. This seemed like a low scale dining experience I could expect more so from Applebee’s or some other lower-end chain. Will not be returning. Not a horrible experience, just not really good and a bit disappointing.
Hadn't been back to the Midtown for awhile but was very pleased with the food, service and ambiance. Midtown delivers predictably every time we go. I had the duck and my wife the 3 Veal special. both were excellent. Of course, the lemon artichoke soup is standard fare. Yet both my wife and I enjoyed the lobster bisque even more than the LA soup.
More of an intimate chef owned vibe with "we've been here awhile" feel.
Enjoy. We will be going back more and sooner!
Great local restaurant ... food was excellent ...
Valentines night dinner. Food and service were exceptional.
Went for Valentine’s Day dinner. Every table was full but the food was excellent and the service good given the crowd. The wine selection was great with reasonably priced recommended pairings for the specials.
Lovely dinner with great food. Very popular. We were lucky to get a table
Midtown never ceases to be excellent. We were late for our seating and only had 45 minutes until their shuttle was to take us downtown. Never felt rushed and had a great meal!
My experience at the Midtown Cafe was one of unexpected displeasure and disgust. I planned out a nice date for Valentines day and was presented very poorly-prepared food at appalling prices. I wound up spending $100+ for 2 and we did not even eat the food - which was lacking any flavor or appeasing quality whatsoever. It was irritatingly loud, the parking lot is incredibly small and crammed, and our server only came around rarely to care for our table causing much inconvenience and upsetting my date and I both. I am immensely upset, and honestly hoped for better. Not a good experience.
Midtown Cafe is always consistent and makes me feel glad I went. And their breakfast is really a good one!
We had a party of 9. We had reservations for 6:30 but we ran late. They were so accommodating. It’s a small restaurant but service and quality of food is grand! Service was fast. Drinks were fabulous and the food was AMAZING!! So, so, so glad we found this place! Went to The Row, a block over for live music and drinks after dinner. Drinks did not begin to compare to Midtown Cafe! This will be a regular when we visit Music City!
We have been going to Midtown for years, and this night was not good at all. Problem started off when the hostess informed us that she just gave away the table we requested(my mother has difficulty hearing) even though we were 5 minutes early for the reservation.
Bartender apparently didn't know how to make a Manhattan as the version he made came out clear and carbonated, no vermouth or bitters. After sending it back and getting a worse version, I gave up and switched to wine.
Being a TPAC night, we understood the service was going to be little slower of them trying to get people out to the show and accommodating next wave, but this night was poorly handled as it took over 1.5 hours to get our entrees. In fact, the tables next to us got seated 15-30 minutes after us and got their entrees before us. Made hostess aware of this and her explanation was we ordered salads and that we lost in place in the queue for entrée serving which makes absolute no sense since we placed our order at same time. Actual meal was below average for times we have been before so something is definitely slipping.
Being special occasion that we pick to go here, the whole experience was disappointing and will be off the list for some time until I hear other people we know say things have improved.
Excellent menu options with local ingredients. Service was good although a bit slow at times. Waitress was very helpful with recommendations. My colleagues had the slow cooked ribs with Coca-cola BBQ sauce and the pork loin with mushroom risotto. Both excellent. I had the sea scallops with lobster mac-n-brie cheese (local special) which were excellent. The Jack Daniels Chocolate pecan pie was amazing.
A venerable Nashville tradition of delicious food, professional service and welcoming environment. Not too stuck on itself like some of the newer restaurants, just a solid, local restaurant delivering consistency and freshness, meal in, meal out. Great place to enjoy a conversation with your meal in a relaxed, sophisticated setting. Black table cloths for a nice, dressed table. Can't beat it!
I love dining at Midtown. It has Nashville Old School charm with friendly hosts and servers. The food is great too. All of that keeps me coming back.
Fantastic place ! Enjoyed it very much! The food was amazingly good! Our server was there when needed, but not overbearing!
This is just one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville - has been for many years. The Lemon Artichoke soup is my all time favorite. Service was very attentive and above board. The small intimate “cafe” size of restaurant is very comfortable and inviting with just the right noise level. I highly recommend.
Whenever I'm scheduling a business meeting in the Downtown Nashville area I always look
to The Midtown Cafe. Locally owned and well managed. People ALWAYS compliment the food.
Perfect vibe...Perfect location...Perfect food...and always a 10 on service.
What a nice quaint restaurant with a very unique menu. The list of specials were really nice with a lot of different options that you don't see in a lot of places. The wines are not way over priced like you see in a lot of places as well. Service was excellent with a lot of good interaction and recommendations. I would highly recommend this restaurant to my friends.
Out with girlfriends for dinner and play. Loved the shuttle service.
Midtown never disappoints. Food and service both great!
A friend told me they had dined at Midtown Cafe in December and that it was great. I went this past Saturday with my friends and we all had a wonderful meal! The shrimp and grits is amazing!
It’s not inexpensive, but I felt like we had a lot of food for our money and the wine was reasonably priced.
We will return!
I'd really enjoyed Midtown Cafe the previous 2 times I'd been there, but this wasn't quite as good. Disappointing to have cold, hard butter on the steak and disappointed that $9.99 asparagus w/ hollandaise had about 6 pieces and no presentation appeal. Steak was good once the butter got close to melted. Excellent service, however! The food had just been better the previous 2 times I'd been there.
Very quiet and nice for a date night to catch up with good food and conversation
