Sat at outside tables (although we had confirmed inside seats, none were available: probably covid issues.) For starters we had brussel sprouts, crab cakes, salmon cakes and tuna tataki. All were very good with the tuna being the weakest of the bunch (the tuna itself was excellent but the accoutrements were pretty boring). We followed with the filet, trout, sea bass curry and the Korean salmon. The filet, trout and salmon were all excellent. The sea bass itself was excellent but the curry was very bland. The service was spectacular. If I I could rate the restaurant 4.5, I would have.
Great Food. Big Selection. Attentive Service. Enjoyed it.
Great dinner. The food is outstanding.
Wonderful table in front of the bar. Excellent service. Excellent appetizers, drinks and entrees. Pastry Chef unequaled anywhere on planet earth.
For the most part, the food was good. Service was very slow. It took over two hours to finish our meal. Most of our dishes were very good but the lamb tasted somewhat gamey. The desserts were unbelievable but very, very pricey. Make sure you check before you buy. Their signature dessert is $22. They have a pastry chef the creates these and they are absolutely beautiful. I wouldn’t mind spending that much in New York City but in rural North Carolina I was a bit taken back. All in all, it was a good meal and we will go back. Hopefully, they will be a little quicker in service.
What a delightful evening at this restaurant! The service was impeccable and the food was SO beautifully presented! Don't miss the watermelon gazpacho while they have it...I don't even like watermelon but the combination of it with cucumbers and feta was stellar!
Midpoint is casual outdoor dining mostly but with excellent farm to table modern cuisine. We went for both lunch and dinner during our time in Highlands and both meals were seriously good. Like almost shockingly good from such a casual place if that’s not offense to say, lol. Staff is friendly & service is good. The crab cakes might have been the best I’ve ever had. The trout and curried sea bass both outstanding. Big main portions. Shareable in my opinion. Will definitely be back!!
The server was very knowledgeable and efficient. Both meals were very good
Atmosphere and view was amazing, food exceptional, and service was great! THE BEST DESSERTS I’ve ever had ( and I’ve traveled globally)! Will defiantly return.
Needed an extra bartender as drinks were very slow. Delicious once they arrived. Bloody Mary—so-so
Wonderful experience! Best of all is the amazing pastry chef... desserts are all a work of art and taste as good as they look!
The attention to health safety was excellent with good table separation and mask observance. The service was good. The food night and day. I had the sea bass curry which was 5 stars. Why wife had the red snapper which had no stars. It was served with a layer of mozzarella that was never melted and hence firm. The rest of the presentation just didn’t work. The waiter was sympathetic when he asked about the uneaten plate. I was surprised when he didn’t offer to comp, replace, or at least treat us to a dessert. He instead asked if we wanted to take it home! We declined.
Loved eating outside on the patio, people watching on Main Street! Took me back to my vacation in Paris-good wine & yummy food! Will definitely be back!
PS we had the Brussels sprouts (without cashews), ceviche & the trout blt.
We sat on the rooftop next next to railing overlooking downtown Highlands. Our hostess was kind and welcome and our waitress was so attentive. Everything we had was incredible (the new Asparagus Crab Bisque was amazing!). We’ll be back the next time we’re in town. :)
The greeter ignored us while she was trying to solve another servers problem. I put that down to inexperience. Our waiter was very good. The food was poor, bland, not seasoned and pricey. Desert was a fancy yodle $16! If there was competition this place would probably fold but in a small town like this they skate by on tourist dollars.
Midpoint continues to be one of Highlands' superior restaurants. The selection of food and wine is limited - yet perfection. I've learned to save room for their exquisite desserts. A beautiful experience.
ambience was great- outside, but food was ok- beet salad was tired; my friends ordered sea bass thinking they were gettin getting grilled sea bass. They got curried sea bass- ok. Fish tacos were good.
Food was tasty, with nice presentation. Service was exceptional (Jaco was our server).
We did not think the food was spectacular. It was good, but the trout had too much sauce and the cauliflower rice was odd tasting. The beet salad was good and the bread was tasteless. They also did not have any tea for after dinner. The dessert was fabulous! From now on, I think it will be a dessert place, only, for us.
My wife and I were able to eat outside making the dining experience COVID friendly. The server was very experienced and hospitable making the time at Midpoint very nice! A friendly hostess was pleasing as well!
We had a birthday girl & it was her 70th birthday! Everything was wonderful!
We had a fantastic meal at midpoint. There were so many appealing things on the menu that it was hard to choose. Our server was great and the pastry chef is just remarkable. Her desserts are works of art with a commensurately fantastic taste.
Food was spectacular!
Great place. Kiki is the best. Food was unreal and great wine list
Great! Food was delicious. Service outstanding!
Very good cocktails and food. The watermelon gazpacho was tasty! The desserts are a work of art and delicious.
We tried to get a table to eat around 3:45pm. We were told only drinks were being served and food couldn't be ordered until 5 but that didn't matter because they were booked for the evening. Ok, frustrating because we couldn't seem to find a single place to eat in Highlands at this time, but ok. So I go on my phone to find places to eat nearby when Open table comes up to make a reservation at MidPoint for my choice of 5 ,5:15 or 7:30 pm. I choose 5 and "wah lah! " We are booked.
When we get there we check in with the bartender as he asks us if we have a reservation. He tells us a hostess will seat us. A minute or so later one does. Then the wait begins (btw they are NOT busy) A worker cleans a table nearby with disinfectant that sprays back on us when my husband says "hey, hey dude watch it. We're getting sprayed" Not once does he turn around to acknowledge us..still waiting for a server..they're walking by us without so much as a look. Finally we stop someone and she asks" do you have a reservation ?" We said yes we already checked in but she insisted we give her our info so she can double check! Yaayyy! We passed! We get a server that takes our drink order and never comes back. We get another server that has a tag along training. They are very nice and the trainer allows me to try a local beer before ordering. We order the rib eye and filet medium rare...as we are waiting we see other tables being served bread and oil? I tell my husband they must have ordered some sort of appetizer. Our steaks arrive and they are med WELL ! NOT RARE. Very disappointing. The middles were medium. The cuts of meat were very good. Despite the wrong temperature, I enjoyed my steak but my husband did not. When the servers came back to check we did not mention it but we did ask about the bread at which she asked" Oh, didn't you get any? It must have been between times of baking( or something like that.It was HER job to have noticed. AND the minimum tip they allowed was 18 %! How conv
Our dishes were delicious and the service was excellent. We will visit again! Glad Highlands has another quality restaurant.
What a wonderful evening!
We came in on a Sunday and the place was slammed for a Sunday night so no fault of the wait staff they were overwhelmed but did their best considering
Food was very average. Crab
Best dessert ever!! We lover our dinner! Save room for dessert. They are a work of art.
Food was good. Service was spotty. They kept trying to take our dishes before we were finished.
Food was good but took forever. The server was apologetic about it. Our meals were really good and we enjoyed it but it took way too long to get the entrees out.
We were there on a busy holiday weekend (Valentine’s Day and President’s Day) so perhaps our experience wasn’t the norm, but... First, we had reservations and when we arrived there was a line with 4-5 other parties waiting to check in. The line moved very slowly, and it took 15 minutes just to get to the hostess stand. It wasn’t clear if these other parties had reservations or if they were putting their name on a wait list, but it didn’t make sense that it would take so long to get to the hostess. Once we did, we were seated promptly. Service was fairly attentive, although our waiter did disappear at times. The first two things my husband tried to order were sold out for the night, so we ended up getting the same dish - crab cakes. While they were flavorful, the consistency and shape looked suspiciously commercially made. The side vegetables were odd - HUGE undercooked broccoli flowerettes, with a “topping” of unseasoned bell pepper slices. The vegetables did not appear to be part of a cohesive dish. All-in-all, mediocre at best. Finally, another reviewer mentioned the cold temps in the dining room. Initially we were comfortable, but partway through dinner the temperature noticeably dropped. The hostess put on a jacket, the servers were wearing vests, while we were freezing. We did not mention it to the staff because it seemed like the norm based on their clothing. The temperature never improved. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. This was our first trip to Highlands so I don’t know the restaurant scene well, but surely there are other better restaurants at this price point.
Food was delicious! Desert was out of this world!
Wonderful food, varied menu, and awesome desserts. We went for Valentine’s Day weekend and it was crowded, but the service was still attentive. Cool vibe and good drinks. We did not get to enjoy the patio because it was cold, but will be back when it warms up.
Outstanding experience. Nice people, great menu and food quality great.
