Best dining experience in a long time. The staff was prompt, attentive, helpful and so fun! Our waitor rushed over as the birthday girl was in the bathroom and was okaying the birthday dessert. It was so sweet, thoughtful and almost like we were being served by a friend with the utmost care. Felt as if we were VIPs and the food was outstanding. They specially made my cocktail and it was beautifully crafted. We got to taste our wine by the glass, and the presentation was so impressive and not something that is practiced everywhere.
We happened to come on a Monday and experience the tasting menu for two! Felt transported to Italy, each pasta was delicate and delicious in it's own way.
We will definitely be back!!
Food here is very good, probably a notch below the best Italian spots in town. Some creative twists on classic dishes and some classic ones done well. I like that the wine list is all Italian, and the staff seem well trained in describing the wines. The ambiance and service are both excellent.
We've been here 3 times now and did the brunch on Sunday-very disappointed with the Mida Slam! Eggs were COLD, ricotta pancake was very tasty but again COLD, no syrup, no better for the bread, no salt , no ketchup for the roasted potatoes (potatoes were the best part!) Not crazy busy and had to wait more than usual for syrup, butter, ketchup!
It was good. I have been here before. I was disappointed in Brunch. Brunch is one of those meals that people have set ideas about and want choices. I won't be coming back for brunch but dinner is great
Very limited menu. Pizza was good.
Great food, service, and ambiance
Will definitely return in the future
Service and food was good except for the desert. My daughter ordered citrus cake and was underwhelmed and basically only had two bites. She said Starbucks lemon pound cake was much better.
We were a group of four, sat at an outside table on Walnut Street so the noise was primarily from traffic. It would have been better had we had an outside table on the other side of the restaurant, but that area was not being used.
All the food and drinks we ordered were delicious and served without much wait time. Out waiter was wonderful - gracious, friendly and helpful in selecting wine and suggesting "starters." All in all, an enjoyable evening with yummy food. We'll be back.
I ate at Mida in Newtonville on Friday evening. I admit I’m not a fan of the trendy college cafeteria aesthetic, and Mida falls in line with this. Our host and servers were friendly and attentive. I ordered a glass of Barbera that was just OK. The piped-in music was the kind of obnoxiously loud rock playlist that you might expect to hear when the restaurant was closed and the staff was cleaning up, not heading into the dinner hour. I found myself wishing their was a more intimate spot as we were subjected to a sonic barrage including the music, the ringing phone, and somebody pouring silverware into a bucket nearby. People-watching was better than expected, with large windows facing Washington street providing a good view of passers-by. The food was decent, good salad, eggplant parm was cheesy but it made for good leftovers. We’ve had excellent luck with takeout here as well.
Food was excellent. Same exact menu as Boston Mida, but with the addition of pizzas. Pizza was awesome. Only thing was that we wanted the pizza to come out before the entrees but it all ended up coming out at the same time.
We had the arancini, the mussels, the pasta with lobster and the halibut. My friend had never been there. We had a meal that I would compare to any meal in Manhattan. Everything was incredibly delicious. Can't wait to go back!!!
Excellent service and food. We love MIDA. It is our favorite restaurant both the South End location and now Newton.
We sat on the patio on a gorgeous night. However I’m not sure we would ever eat inside unless the music was turned down 5 notches!!! Very loud!!!!
Drinks were very good and the food was delicious. Place was hoping. The only draw back was the service was a bit slow. Would definitely go back again.
The antipasto was small but quality ingredients, delicious! Bread was grilled with just the right amount of olive oil, and crispy!! Prosciutto drizzled with honey! The Short Rib Lasagna was excellent, full of short ribs!! The egg plant parmesan was delicious and an extremely generous piece!! Creta Paglia wine was very different and excellent!! Orange color, dry mineralic, nice floral scent!! Excellent attention for allergies!! Well worth a try and we will return!!
Been there 3 times...first time was good but sat at bar...second time was not good and sat outdoors....third time food was better but kitchen needs seasoning lessons..risotto once again was over salted and should not have been served. Halibut was cooked correctly as was chicken. Whoever made the gelato needs to scale back on the almond extract....way too heavy-handed...and lose the green food coloring!
Good idea to add some soundproofing...not a good environment to hold a conversation w/o screaming at your companions.
This was our first time to MIDA Newton. We are regular customers of MIDA South End. It was very good and Seth was very friendly and helpful with wines. We will meet our friend there again. She said it is her new favorite restaurant.
The food was tasteless and more so the service was disappointing! Not even a good selection of wine (by the glass). It is mind blowing to see how a restaurant cannot even make a simple cheese and pepper pasta dish. Very pretentious! Will not be wasting my time and money going back to this place.
Great food and service.
MIDA is always a sure bet! Great food and fantastic service.
I have been there a few times and enjoy myself every time! The interior finishes are nicely done and presents a nice, inviting, and warm atmosphere for all that visit. The food is great and I look forward to the menu expanding overtime.
All are appetizers was very very good our dinner fantastic and our cocktails delicious we then finished with coffee and pistachio/chocolate ice cream We was very impressed with all !
The server Clark K was fantastic and professional!
Thanks for a great night!
Nice spot to eat. Open kitchen lots of glass windows. Beautiful spot. Food wasnt my style or taste but definsomething unique and different.
Yum - first time there - good sized portions - loved the mussels, eggplant, and lasagne
Loved the eggplant parmigiana sandwich
Pizza was very good too
Pancake was too sweet for me
I will definitely return
Outstanding food. The only issue is they seem to run out of items such as eggplant parmigiana, sausage for the amazing sausage pizza. I have not been able to get the eggplant on 3 different occasions and I am dying to try it.
This is my second try because of the other location getting rave reviews. I am not impressed food was okay. I found the sauce to be generic and spicey. I found it to be really Loud!! The eggplant Parm should be loaded to with mozzarella cheese. It was hard pressed to find it. I think I won’t return 2 times was enough to say Eh!! Not good..
Attractive, modern decor. Lobster linguini tasty. Husband enjoyed the short ribs lasagna. Will definitely revisit.
The menu at Mida is minimal but definitely has many items that my husband and I like. We have dined there a number of times and have always been pleased. The pizza, apps, dinners, and desserts we have ordered have been very good. The waitstaff has been professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. It is a great new addition to the restaurant scene outside Boston.
I read that the chef's other restaurant in the South End offered spaghetti carbonara which is one of my favs. Mentioned it to my server, who said even tho it's not on the Newton site's menu, they'd be glad to make it for me. Yummy. Not ever restaurant (and not every server) would go that extra mile. Best pasta and best gelato in the city.
I came here with two of my close girlfriends for a mini birthday dinner, i made reservations prior online. For a Wednesday night this place was packed! A good packed! The service was amazing and the waiter had really great suggestions based on our questions and the menu. The food did not disappoint! Everything was delicious! At the end of our evening they brought over a birthday dessert without us reminding or asking them (aside from the reservation note)… this gesture really stood out! Great experience overall and I would definitely suggest to a friend or attend again myself!
Amazing ambience and great food
We had a very nice brunch at Mida. My only criticism sounds rather silly. The pancake was huge.. It was very delicious but I was happy we live nearby so could avoid wasting such good food. The service could not have been nicer and the outside patio at the back of the restaurant is very pleasant.
Food was good in general. Service really good………..
Our second cisit
When we arrived, we were seated outdoors, as requested - a lovely summer evening.
However, there was a freezing cold A/C blowing directly at our table. I asked the hostess to please move us; she said there were no available tables (this despite I could see 2 not far from us), instead stating she would simply close the open door - problem being everyone who came out left the door wide open.
Great for a date night, when you don't want to cook, or need some pizza!
Second time eating at Mida. Great service and great food again. It could be our new favorite place to eat in Newton!
Always, always a special treat! MIDA is my all time go-to dining spot. Love the incredible food, excellent service and cozy decor.
Loved the pepperoni pizza cheese pizza okay. My halibut not very good did not like the sauce and fish didn’t taste like halibut. The bologneses okay. It was a much better dish in the south end. The Caicos Pepe good but the south end site it as better
