The food was well prepared and very good. Menu has a limited number of selections. The restaurant is very noisy.
Good value for the price. Wait staff was incredibly responsive and professional. The atmosphere was loud.
We were looking for a great spot to have dinner with dear friends. We decided to try Mida because we had heard good things. We could not have been happier with our experience. It was a perfect night for sitting outside and the food and service were top notch. We tried things from every section of the menu and were not disappointed with anything. Delicious cocktails, arancini, focaccia, olives (even converting two non olive eaters in our party), polenta, roast chicken, gnocchi, bolognese, and unbelievably delicious pistachio gelato. The service was excellent. We were never left waiting for things, but were also given plenty of time for decisions and conversation. The meal was well paced and the service was perfection. We can’t wait to head back over for another delicious meal and beautiful night with friends.
Pleasant dining environment, very good food, excellent service. The wine list (all Italian wines) could use a brief description of each. I'd recommend for friends, and plan a repeat visit.
The antipasto platter was delicious but you couldn't bite into the bread. Lobster Carbonara was loaded with bread crumbs so that's all you could taste. My friend and I felt rushed by our waitress
Good food. Attentive service. Great management. Loved the aesthetic appeal of the restaurant. Definitely we will go back.
We recommend enthusiastically. Great food and atmosphere!
Delicious and enjoyable meal! I ordered the mussels, short rib lasagna and citrus cake for dessert. I also had red wine with dinner. The meal was did not disappoint and the service was just right.
The best time. Thank you!!
We had such a great date night meal here. As someone who grew up with an Italian chef mother, I was thrilled at the authenticity of the dishes. The mussels were in a really tasty broth, the fritto misto was fluffy and light, the polenta was done perfectly, and the ricotta gnocchi cacio e pepe was fabulous. The homemade limoncello was perfect, and the negroni was deep and delicious. I was impressed with the wine list too - lots of great bottles. The waitstaff was knowledgable and very attentive. It's a plus for us that it's a Black-owned business and it attracts a refreshingly diverse staff and clientele. We'll be back.
A pleasant experience . Good convenient location . Appetizers were good . Main course was on point . Recommend the Short Rib lasagna . Tiramisu dessert was unique & satisfying .
The food was delicious but over priced for what it was. The beverages weren't that good (wine was pretty bad) and ridiculously over priced.the service was great. The ambience was nice but not fancy, again not reflecting the pricing schema. Overall good but too expensive for what it is.
the seafood misto was excellent- very light batter and generous enough to share! we had eggplant parm and the short rib lasagna. nice portions and very well prepared. We sat at bar on Friday night and were well cared for by casey, the bartender. He let us sample some wine options to help us choose. we are eager to return and bring some friends. It's a beautiful space unique in Newton
Love having MIDA in our neighborhood. The food is very good as is the service. The only problem is the noise level. I know there has been some mitigation put in place but it is still very hard to have a conversation at the tables.
Food was fantastic. I had the salad, chicken and the brand new chocolate cake. AMAZING. Service was FANTASTIC. Sitting outside at the major intersection is really noisy. Otherwise everything was GREAT.
Fantastic Staff, atmosphere and food. I loved everything about it. Great experience
I was so excited to try Mida and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent as was the service. The location is wonderful as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. We sat at a small booth near an open kitchen. The arancini, 4 pieces and large enough to split, were tasty and fried nicely. We then split a cheese pizza and requested that it be very lightly charred. Other reviewers suggested that the pizza can be overly blackened and burned. It was perfectly done.' We were glad we made the special request. It's a good pizza, very thin with lots of cheese, but not stringy. We shared an entree of short rib lasagna, which was an unusual interpretation but quite good. For dessert, we had tiramisu, another unusual version. The bottom was a creamy custard, topped by a thin and chewy cake. The server then poured espresso over it, a pleasant surprise as it countered the sweetness and heightened the flavors of the dessert. A perfect way to end the meal.
Service was great. Rachel answered our questions thoroughly and gave excellent suggestions. The food was excellent. Can’t wait to return.
Our overall experience was good; we would go again. The service people were very nice but some of the food items didn’t really “wow” us as much as we expected, but were good. The tiramisu and gelato were excellent!
Very good. Hade eggplant parm and short rib lasagna. Very good food. Would retune.
The ambiance and service at MIDA were great--our server was just wonderful!! My only complaint was with my entree. As a vegan, I had asked if the chef might be able to take ingredients that were available and create something. I didn't want to micromanage the order but would have been happy to make suggestions. Unfortunately, I was served a "kid's pasta" that had little flavor. Next time (and there will be a next time!), I'll try another approach by ordering some sides and creating my own entree.
Third time at MIDA since it opened, and the place is still humming. If anything, it's busier than ever before. No drop-off in the consistency and quality of the food, or the service, either. This is quickly becoming a fixture and a go-to spot in our humble little village of Newtonville.
Lots of little touches paired with simple but elegant ingredients and ideas. Love the modest selections as it doesn't overwhelm. Great diversity ebb with limited options.
Best dining experience in a long time. The staff was prompt, attentive, helpful and so fun! Our waitor rushed over as the birthday girl was in the bathroom and was okaying the birthday dessert. It was so sweet, thoughtful and almost like we were being served by a friend with the utmost care. Felt as if we were VIPs and the food was outstanding. They specially made my cocktail and it was beautifully crafted. We got to taste our wine by the glass, and the presentation was so impressive and not something that is practiced everywhere.
We happened to come on a Monday and experience the tasting menu for two! Felt transported to Italy, each pasta was delicate and delicious in it's own way.
We will definitely be back!!
Usually they are great. Food and drinks took forever and the restaurant was empty. The food was too salty or spicy.
Food here is very good, probably a notch below the best Italian spots in town. Some creative twists on classic dishes and some classic ones done well. I like that the wine list is all Italian, and the staff seem well trained in describing the wines. The ambiance and service are both excellent.
We've been here 3 times now and did the brunch on Sunday-very disappointed with the Mida Slam! Eggs were COLD, ricotta pancake was very tasty but again COLD, no syrup, no better for the bread, no salt , no ketchup for the roasted potatoes (potatoes were the best part!) Not crazy busy and had to wait more than usual for syrup, butter, ketchup!
Great food great drinks great service.
It was good. I have been here before. I was disappointed in Brunch. Brunch is one of those meals that people have set ideas about and want choices. I won't be coming back for brunch but dinner is great
Very limited menu. Pizza was good.
Great food, service, and ambiance
Will definitely return in the future
Service and food was good except for the desert. My daughter ordered citrus cake and was underwhelmed and basically only had two bites. She said Starbucks lemon pound cake was much better.
We were a group of four, sat at an outside table on Walnut Street so the noise was primarily from traffic. It would have been better had we had an outside table on the other side of the restaurant, but that area was not being used.
All the food and drinks we ordered were delicious and served without much wait time. Out waiter was wonderful - gracious, friendly and helpful in selecting wine and suggesting "starters." All in all, an enjoyable evening with yummy food. We'll be back.
I ate at Mida in Newtonville on Friday evening. I admit I’m not a fan of the trendy college cafeteria aesthetic, and Mida falls in line with this. Our host and servers were friendly and attentive. I ordered a glass of Barbera that was just OK. The piped-in music was the kind of obnoxiously loud rock playlist that you might expect to hear when the restaurant was closed and the staff was cleaning up, not heading into the dinner hour. I found myself wishing their was a more intimate spot as we were subjected to a sonic barrage including the music, the ringing phone, and somebody pouring silverware into a bucket nearby. People-watching was better than expected, with large windows facing Washington street providing a good view of passers-by. The food was decent, good salad, eggplant parm was cheesy but it made for good leftovers. We’ve had excellent luck with takeout here as well.
Food was excellent. Same exact menu as Boston Mida, but with the addition of pizzas. Pizza was awesome. Only thing was that we wanted the pizza to come out before the entrees but it all ended up coming out at the same time.
We had the arancini, the mussels, the pasta with lobster and the halibut. My friend had never been there. We had a meal that I would compare to any meal in Manhattan. Everything was incredibly delicious. Can't wait to go back!!!
Excellent service and food. We love MIDA. It is our favorite restaurant both the South End location and now Newton.
We sat on the patio on a gorgeous night. However I’m not sure we would ever eat inside unless the music was turned down 5 notches!!! Very loud!!!!
Drinks were very good and the food was delicious. Place was hoping. The only draw back was the service was a bit slow. Would definitely go back again.
