Wonderful food! It was so delicious we have to go back.
I love Mida and have been several times. The service is always just as exceptional as the food and the menu is updated often so it always feels like there is something new to try. I especially love supporting a black-owned business in my neighborhood.
One thing to note - this was my first time dining outside on the patio and unfortunately I would not recommend it. Due to heavy car and foot traffic, it was very loud and distracting. This is obviously not something the staff can control but if you have the option between indoor or outdoor seating I would definitely opt for indoor.
Was able to switch to an outdoor table which was a plus.
Great food, in my opinion. salad, appetizers, and roasted chicken were all superb. Frito Misto was a bit salty, but we still had great meals.
The main problem is that the outdoor tables were not at all isolated from the busy street, and lots of people walked by 2 feet away, not wearing a mask. Other restaurants in the South End of sorted out a better socially distanced outdoor dining experience; this one left me quite uncomfortable.
I'd be happy to come back after Covid though because I thought the food was great.
We came for our anniversary dinner and it was amazing. From the food/drinks to the service everything was excellent! I will be dinning more often!
Had a great time. Food was great and the atmosphere was perfect. We had a great server and I will definitely be back.
MIDA is a great restaurant with wonderful, friendly service and delicious food. Our servers were all very attentive and helpful. They went above and beyond to make it a special night for my friend who had her birthday!
Best friend was going to medical school!
We love this place. Had dreams about the tiramisu for months during the lockdown. The Roast chicken and focaccia are also dynamite.
The food was great, cocktails were amazing! I was surprised to learn of this spot so overall pleasantly surprised and look forward to coming again!
The pasta was outstanding. My sever was friendly and engaging. My experience
was first rate. Can't wait to go back and eat again. Well worth the trip from
The food was great. The service was very good. The only compliant was speed of food coming out of the kitchen. When the manager realized we had been waiting a little to long she came over to us and made it right. She brought us a complimentary appetizer and extra bread. She went above and beyond. It was really good to see. They were doing a tremendous take out which was hampering there dine in service. I would certainly go back
It was a great dinner. However, the dark meat of the chicken did not look like it was cooked through so though we took it home we threw it away.
Every time I come here the food never ever disappoints. I felt very safe inside dining, with lots of space to ourselves. I’ll be back again for sure! The rice balls and focaccia are out of this world, you could easily fill up on these, but you’ll want to save some room for the entree.
I got the pesto and the pasta was al dente (perfectly cooked in my eyes) my friend got the gnocchi and they were like soft warm pillows in your mouth.
We went for a late dinner the other night. The patio was really nice and the drinks were well made. The food looked good, but they never came by to take our order, just our drink order. It was towards the end of the night, and a heads up that the kitchen was closed or was about to close would have been nice.
We ended up ordering pizza and having more drinks at home. Mida easily lost out on $100 in additional revenue from our table that night.
The whole experience was fantastic. They were accommodating to get us outdoor seating as some of the party wasn’t comfortable sitting inside. Service was great and the food was delicious! Gnocchi and lasagna are must haves!
Excellent service from the host to our waiter, everyone was super pleasant. The food was very tasty, unfortunately we didn't think their desserts were very good. The ambiance was great, very lively and fun.
Current events w/COVID-19 near peak the restaurant definitely did a 4 of 5 stars. Venue was packed from bar to dinner tables with good ambiance and lighting. Nearly all front staff doing bar service. Aware of service notes before arrival, with reservations and called to re-confirm; the staff noting bottled water will be served table-side along with plastic cutlery to reduce contamination. Unfortunately the industry (no fault of MIDA) has created a trend of pre-setting water bottles (germs) along with pre-set cutlery (guests no longer wants to dine, leaves and server has to reset an entire table, or the random cough in the air... as an example.)
MIDA: once seated the initial hello through main course served...service atmosphere a bit tense (short staffed presuming) it was clear the steps of service in a non crisis are a bit unique (ideal to touch tables with detail to retain clientele.) Totally get it. Not tonight. Server was a bit short versed, and ready to move. 10min pre-water w/just menu's, and 15min post water before an inquiry on menu options. I warned my table about the "service-mood" of the room with awareness to make a selection and be ready once the server returned. We did so, though when basic questions were asked about preparations it was clear that our server was waiting for just the right person to blow a fuse on. Not having that at our table as it wasn't needed, we continued with passe compliments in order to lift this server's spirits. 10min into dinner service the server did lighten up with a compliment from the kitchen...I also realized the dinner push (7PM-8:30PM) was over. Concluding with all smiles.
NOTE: Use pre-rolled cutlery in the future (paper napkin and tab of scotch tape...looks tacky but its visually hygienic) instead of placing each piece bare handed per setting. Linen napkin pre-set still works!
Also please verbally inform clientele (in light) of the rush, crisis, short staffing etc...my table saw the rush...other's saw chaos.
great meal - chicken was excellent ! service was great too.
OUr favorite in the City. We pray for Chef Doug and his fine staff that they may all get through this difficult time in our city. He is a gem and an honor to the city and we feel badly that he and Mo and the entire team have to suffer through these 3 weeks. Hoping that you get time to see the world anew with fresh eyes and we promise to be among your first back. We are keeping you all in our prayer
Great birthday outing during restaurant week
Did not go because of restaurant week, but the lamb parpadelle sounded so delicious we opted for the special menu. Clams in broth starter was tasty, asked for a spoon to drink the broth, (the bread was good too!). The lamb parpadelle did not disappoint, glad I opted for that! Ate every last morsel. Ended with the biscotti gelato, my friend had the cake(can’t remember the name), put them together and voila! Drinks were good, wine list interesting, got some help from the staff choosing a glass of red. Service was attentive, water always refilled, always nearby but not hovering. Refreshing to find the chef in the kitchen, cooking and advising staff, in a very understated manner. Will be back often!
The service at MIDA was incredibly attentive, the atmosphere was lovely and the food was delicious.
The service was friendly and exceptional.
It is an attractive place, with a “buzz” and therefore a little louder than my personal preference but conversation still possible across the table.
The beets in the beet salad were firm and mildly pickled, the best I’ve ever had, and overall the salad was excellent.
Diver scallops were also very good and in a plentiful portion.
The braised lamb papardelle was delicious.
I rated the food 4 rather than 5 only because it was a little saltier than I liked, but was fine for others.
Carrot and lime sorbet was also delicious, refreshing, and a little different.
Definitely a place that deserves a return visit.
Couldn’t believe a glass of grand marnier was $17
Loved it from the moment I walked away n the door. Great ambiance, warm and competent service, excellent food!
Long time regular at the restaurant, first time going for brunch, was stupendous. The fried chicken sandwich is unreal, as is the lemon pancake. Chef's James Beard nomination is well deserved.
Amazing flavors and terrific staff made this a great night out without typical South End prices.
We loved the food and service however the ambiance was void of Italian atmosphere.
House specialties were excellent. Service very friendly with appropriate frequency. Access off of Mass Ave. a plus.
My partner and I went to MIDA for Dine Out Boston. It was a great tasting menu for a reasonable price and the server was really helpful with recommendations for a bottle of wine. I was impressed that she was happy to help us stay inside our price-range without being judgmental or pushy. Our only small complaints were that the music was a bit loud (we arrived for an early reservation at 5:30) and that the lamb pappardelle, while super delicious, was a bit salty for my taste (and I really like salt). The food and service were wonderful and we would be excited to return. Also, the negroni cocktails were delicious, a must try!
OMG! What a SPECTACULAR SURPRISE! I reserved here because of the many hundreds of reviewers that gave them lots of stars, and boy were we delighted with this new find!
Charming little place with a bustling bar scene, creative drinks menu and a short but sweet menu for dinner. I wish I had been hungrier because now I wanna try everything on the menu! We'll be back as soon as we can, and we're looking forward to the pizza place in the North Station and another restaurant he's opening in Newtonville! Douglass Williams is the chef-owner and I will eagerly follow him anywhere! We also noticed that the bill was more like what we spend per person in Boston! Douglass mentioned he keeps the pricing neighborhood friendly so you can return often. I forgot to mention the wines by the glass are thoughtfully selected too! 10 stars!
Great service and liked the ambience but food fell short of our expectations
Great food, great experience overall. And gluten free pasta! Did have to wait for table despite having reservation.
Great menu and bustling scene. I should have done my homework, I was prepared for a quiet Monday night dinner and didn't realize that I had picked a hot spot, we arrived at 5:30 p.m. it was fairly empty, but got crowded fast. The tables are fairly close together, so be prepared to make friends. We spoke with the diners at the tables on either side of us all night.
The staff were all very accommodating and knowledgeable, which made our options between the dine out pre-fix, the regular menu and the Monday night all you can eat pasta offering easy. They also accommodate dietary restrictions, i.e. vegetarian, pescatarian, etc. The wine list is fun and has all the Italian grapes you would want to pair with your dinner, or just sip on. Their cocktail list is okay, I like to have a pre-dinner cocktail and order wine with dinner, but I didn't see anything that spoke to me and I didn't want to have the bar try to make me my specific drink, so we just drank wine, and it was good. We had no room for dessert and would definitely go back with friends or alone for dinner.
This meal was amazing. We came for restaurant week, but have been here during regular weeks and it is always A+!. The restaurant week menu was exceptional. The clam appetizer was phenomenal, a really special dish. We loved the salmon and the pasta dish as well and the gelato was very very good. Our waitress, Erin, was also amazing. I don't think the works here regularly anymore, but hopefully she'll be back. We will be back for sure.
The food was delicious, the service was phenomenal. Planning to go back often!
Restaurant week! Every week! Best pasta in the city. Thoughtful menu, great deserts!
Great pasta, neighborhood vibe. Good values on both the bottle and by-the-glass wine.
