Michael's St. Augustine
Nothing really wrong with any of it but it still came up short of a fining dining experience despite the fine dining prices. Didn’t understand why they cut up my Kansas Strip for me (I’m 53 not 5) but it tasted OK.
My husband took me for my birthday. We had the Chef's 3 course tasting menu with wine parings to be adventurous, since they do not tell you what they will serve. All three courses were amazing and stood on their own and paired wonderfully with the wine. Service was impeccable and paced in such a way to enjoy a lovely slow evening dinner. We both had a wonderful time. We would highly recommend for any occasion; not just special occasions. The chef visited the table after each course which was also a very lovely touch.
Another tough place to get a reservation but well worth it, We went with the 5 course chef tasting and wine pairing. Excellent choice the chef was awesome he brought each course out explained it then came back to make sure we were enjoying it. Amazing wine list!!! will be back for sure!
we were there for our anniversary. Service was outstanding and the food was fantastic. truky a hiiden gem.
Stop over while traveling from Boston to Fort Meyers. Best overall experience. We tried the 3 course Chef tasting, and each course was personally delivered and explained by the chef. Each course (shrimp risotto, steak and roast mushroom, and chocolate tort and caramel cheese cake) was well prepared and delicious. Our server was professional and pleasant and knew how to pour wine.
Our first time dining here and we loved it! The dining room was beautiful and featured wonderful paintings on the walls. A touch of drapery to make it intimate. The wine selection was vast and we loved the wine that was reccomemened.. Beals Beaux , France 2016. Our food was amazing, especially the manchego grits. The chef made it a point to visit with us towards the end.
We went online to view menu and decided on peppercorn filet mignon. We were told when we got there at 6:30 PM that they were sold out but we could have a peppercorn fillet, for a $15 surcharge.
Celebrated my wife’s 72 birthday. Good meal but overpriced with smaller portions served. No bread offered during meal and only beer and wine offered. In conclusion wine list and food preparation were best aspects of meal but there are better alternative available that I will choose in future.
Food was excellent. Chef delivered the plates to us which was very nice. Great wine selection.
The best dining experience we’ve had in St Augustine! The steak is incredible!
The service was absolutely horrific. After they cooked my steak to the wrong temperature TWICE, they not only told me I was wrong (multiple different people), they then went on to tell me that I didn’t know how a medium steak would be cooked. Then instead of making it right they continued to walk by our table and whisper that I didn’t know how a steak is cooked.
Michael's Restaurant has a variety of food offerings. I would have loved a fresh fish offering (other than the whole fish dish - no heads and tails for me). I settled for a 8 0z filet that was done properly, but a third of the cut contained fat and gristle that made it nonedible. My wife ordered the 6 0z version that was very good. The cast iron shrimp appetizer was very good as was the bread. David was our waiter and did an excellent job of taking care of us. My biggest complaint was the noise level. It made it hard to converse in a normal tone.
Did the Chefs Experience and it was AWESOME! Food was outstanding and having the Chef come out with each entree to describe what he created was very cool. Very unique experience and tons of fun.
What a wonderful experience!!! Had the chef’s choice 3-course with the wine. Loved it!!! Have planned 2 trips to go through St. Augustine with friends/family to go and experience this restaurant again.
LOVED MICHAEL'S...GREAT FOOD AND SERVICE. WE ARE FROM ATLANTA WHERE WE HAVE MANY EXCELLENT RESTAURANTS. THE STEAK AND TRUFFLED FRIES WE ENJOYED AT MICHAEL'S WAS DELICIOUS AND COOKED TO PERFECTION. AS GOOD AS EATING IN THE ATL! OUR ONLY CRITICISM, IS THAT ALTHOUGH THE PRICES FOR WHAT YOU GET ARE FAIR VALUE, THE ATMOSPHERE IS LACKING. TABLECLOTHS AND CANDLES ON THE TABLES WOULD BE A GREAT ADDITION. NONTHELESS, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND WILL BE BACK!
Very stylish interior, very attentive service, to our minds the food combinations were a little “different“ and the tastes did not “mesh”, but competed. The chicken dish was way, way over salted. The scallops dish, had the above mentioned competing, as opposed to complementary, ingredients.Prices were a bit high for what was anticipated to be “gourmet“ food.
New Year’s Eve
I never write reviews but this experience was HORRIBLE. I realize it was NYE with a set menu but their attention to detail was unacceptable. Plus the staff was extremely rude. We went there with my 2 smaller children 5/7. Being sat down I asked if we could get a 4 person rectangle open table that was next to our square one and the hostess said “that’s reserved” I then said “don’t we have a reservation also?” She said yes I but that’s for someone else. Definitely not a nice response but whatever it’s NYE. Then I asked if we could have my children’s entrees brought out earlier than ours since they weren’t eating any of the other courses being brought and we were almost 2hrs into this dinner. Was told she could try. Then a table next to us(ironically the one I asked to be switched to) and had been seated way after us got there entrees way before ours. Besides the fact that they were super loud and cursing all the time they obviously knew someone(had a long greeting with their server) got preferential treatment. My two small children behaved better(they were on their iPads all night) than they did! Anyway, I asked where our entrees were cause we were going on almost 2.5hrs and she finally brought out the entrees and the filets weren’t anything special. My childrens lemonades were never refilled and at this point I was just annoyed. I asked the server for our check and that’s when I guess she realized I was upset. She attempted to say desserts will be right out and I said no thank you then on the way out she said I packed them to go. Again I said no thank you while on the way out 2 male workers mumbled “glad I didn’t have that table”! Worst NYE experience ever. I’ve been to Michelin rates Restautants to Taco Bell and this was horrible. Never again.
Did a great job considering it was NY Eve. Fixed menu helped. Service was excellent.
New Years eve
We had reservations for a long period of time. We knew there would be a limited entree list. We were seated & drink orders delivered. 3 of us ordered the filet & 1 of our group had the scallops. 1st course was a mini soft cheese edible cup. The cup was rock hard. Salad was good. Our filets were seated on a bed of mashed potatoes. Certainly iffy to call it a bed. Not much there. The filets were 3/4 inch thick. Tasty but hardly worth the money. Followed up by dessert for four people. Chocolate cake & a tiny slice of cheesecake—both cut in halves. Happy New Year—-NOT!
Absolutely amazing. We had the set menu New Year’s Eve but it was great. Our server Joel was brilliant
This was our second visit to Michael’s. This time was New Years Eve & the food did not disappoint. Our waiter was very knowledgeable.
Food was delicious!
We had the Chef’s tasting menu. Outstanding food and service
Food was delicious, service was great. We’d love to go back next time we’re in St. Augustine. Glad we made reservations, it was a popular place.
Great food, artfully presented. Steak was just right, octopus perfect, scallop crisp and tasty. We had the chef's choice and it did not disappoint.
3 course chef selection was the way to go! Each dish was Delicious and perfectly prepared!!
We had an absolutely wonderful meal. It’s always such a treat dining with Michael’s Tasting Room. I have nothing but praise for the chef. He made our evening even more special.
My family and I indulged at Michaels on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holidays and birthdays. We immersed ourselves in the menu; we had appetizers, dinner and dessert! The wine selection is on point. The service was excellent; we even were greeted by Michael. Our experience was a highlight this holiday season! We will definitely be back!
We had a party of 6; we all had drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. Service was outstanding and everyone raved about their food from Shrimp, Oysters Rockefeller, Octopus to dinners of chicken scallops and beef. We definitely look forward to going back!
Food was good just a little Pricey for the quantity. Staff and service was good and quick.
Our third visit to Michael's. Wonderful. The service is attentive and friendly. Excellent wine list. Dinner was, as always, delicious. A lovely dining experience.
Outstanding in every aspect! Best restaurant in Saint Augustine!
We had a wonderful and tasty experience and will go back again.
Absolutely amazing! Additionally Joel was a fantastic server with impeccable timing. I was there for my birthday with my wife and two children. He was very accommodating. Thank you!
We went to Michael’s for our 25th anniversary celebration. This is the perfect place for a great meal in a cool and intimate environment.
The food and service were amazing, and the prices were very reasonable for this level of quality.
Waitress insisted to order the steak well done if we wanted it a little pink inside. She never explained the menu or offered any suggestions. We were very disappointed as many people recommended this restaurant. Food was overpriced and atmosphere was small and nothing special. It took 30 minutes just to get a coffee after the meal and even that was horrible. Avoid it and save your money. Go to Harry’s instead.
I had the Salmon Wellington but was not impressed at $32.00. There are too many places in town that have really good food, nice portions and a fair price. The brussell sprouts were good though. Could hardly hear each other talk at our table and it was hard to hear the waiter.
Our dining began slowly as the server was attending to the chef. However, once she was engaged with us she made this a wonderful dining experience. Well done!
