Get the meatloaf! What a wonderful restaurant. We enjoyed everything we ordered and loved the atmosphere and the company.
Love this great restaurant in a neat neighborhood. The quality of food and service are excellent. Easy walk from so many boutique hotels! The gals at the hostess desk so welcoming.
Food was good, my wife’s fish daily special was a little dry but my mahi mahi was excellent. Very good experience overall.
We go there at least once every time we are in Key West and actually we went twice on this trip. Staff is excellent and very friendly and the food is some of the best I've ever had. And we have eaten all over the country.
We Love Michaels!!!
Great food drinks and wine .
Ok. Many better spots
Excellent as usual. You can't go wrong with Michaels Restaurant whatever the occasion.
Great food. Loved the ability to order a smaller sized dinner entree. Lovely, congenial hostess. Wayne is a wonderful waiter. All staff are friendly and customer focused
Great food. What I liked best was that I could order 1/2 portions of many of the entrees. I rarely finish my meals at restaurants so it was nice to clean my plate. Unfortunately we were seated inside, near a table of 6 VERY loud, VERY obnoxious men. They were so bad that 3 tables requested to be re-seated in the garden. Our server was quite upset and clearly not having a good evening. They probably should have been asked to leave, I feel certain the entire restaurant would have applauded. Will definitely go back.
Too many better restaurants in Key West to go to Michaels again or to recommend it over others like Seven Fish, Little Pearl, or Nine One Five. Quite pricey -- I think $40 for Red Snapper & basic sides is a bit much. Some dishes you can have as "half" or "full" but our waitress's description of each was not adequate. While it does have outdoor dining, it's not much more than wobbly tables & chairs outside. We didn't have the experience expected based on the reviews we read.
In town for the week, visited Michaels 2 years ago. Had such a great experience we had to go back, and we weren't disappointed. We love this place, very nice ambiance, quiet, romantic. Staff are top notch, drinks are excellent. I wouldn't recommend children. The steaks were excellent. The price is fair, and the outdoor seating very nice. Had a decent selectiin of wines as well. Overall, excellent. We highly recommend Michaels!
Michaels is one of our favorites not only in Key West, but anywhere. Been coming there for many years. Once again the wait staff was friendly and attentive and the food outstanding.
Michael’s is the best restaurant on the island!
After nearly 20 years, this is still among my two or three favorite places in all of Key West! Great food, staff, cocktails and a comfortable atmosphere make this a must dine experience on the Island!
We had a great meal at Michaels. Our waiter Justin was very attentive. Really liked that you could pick a smaller size for most entrees.
The food was overall good the staff was friendly and service was good. I had the salmon dish and the port wine reduction that was used took over the dish a bit more than my liking but the salmon was cooked wonderfully and the mix of rice and veg was perfect.
We arrived early for our reservation and were sat immediately in the outside courtyard. We had cocktails, salad, and appetizers but no full meal. The salads were very good but a bit overdressed, and the large rustic wedges of onion could have been a bit smaller. The "house" salad had a women's name that escapes me. The Caesar Salad was well prepared and a bit overdressed as well. The Appetizer of filet was large to bite and could be considered Rustic as well. the bread was thin, the fried onions and Filet we more than a bite or mouth. The flavour was good, the cocktails were excellent, the service lagged a bit, perhaps the early time and no meal put the Server off, but she was not as attentive at the end of the meal as was the case when we arrived.
I would recommend Michael's, I was quaint and otherwise a pleasant time.
Great ambience, food was wonderful as were the cocktails. Definitely will return again.
Amazing food every time. My favorite place for a great steak in Key West
Never had a bad meal in Key West until I went to Michael's. Steak was over cooked to med well instead of med rare. Sauce for the coconut shrimp was so hot it was unpalatable.
Food and service was excellent. All family members enjoyed each bite. The desserts were a perfect ending. Yum!
Excellent food with even better service. Our waiter, Moses, was gracious, attentive and extremely accommodating! First vacation in Key West, we will make Michael’s a stop each time we come back in the future!
Michals came highly recommended to us, so we made a reservation well in advance . Unfortunately , we were seated inside, which was deafeningly loud, even though there were several tables on the much quieter patio that never filled while we were there. We were basically unable to converse.
The service was friendly and prompt, but the wine list was not great and they were out of the wine that we wanted.
Our dishes were uneven, at best. The grilled octopus was properly poached and tender, but under grilled to the extent that the person who ordered it couldn’t get beyond the flabbiness of the skin. My beet and arugula salad was fresh, but devoid of any dressing whatsoever , so Iborrowed the lemon from the aforementioned octopus. Another diner wanted the snapper, which they were out of, and the mahi ordered in its place was seriously overcooked. My veal chop was perfect, and the rum cake for dessert was a triumph .
With so many great restaurants within a few blocks, we will probably not try Michaels again for a while, and when we do go, we will request a table on the patio.
Disappointed. We usually love Michaels
Steaks were over cooked and waiter was inattentive
Dinner was good. We had the Mac Nut Mahi Mahi. The fish was delicious. It came topped with rum soaked bananas. They were a little strong. Our waitress Mary was attentive and fantastic. The outdoor patio was nice. I would eat here again.
Delicious and beautifully present dishes. Fresh and memorable. Great service and so nice sitting out on the patio. Highly recommend. It’s a hidden gem!!!!
6 of us had a nice get-together at Michaels. We asked for outdoor dining and were seated at a quiet table in the back. The ladies appreciated the “light” portions and the men enjoyed the full sized dinners. Snapper, steak and meatloaf were all great.
5 star all the way! Food, Service, atmosphere...we always love it at Michaels!
The best dinner we had during our week-plus stay in Key West. Superb service from
Justin who attended to our questions and explained much about Key West. Just an all-round wonderful evening. We will be back next year when we return. -- Rich Schap
Great food, wait staff was very attentive! Great vacation experience!
Spent last 5 anniversaries with Michaels and we tell everyone we know it’s a must visit place. This year a couple friend of ours said they took our advice a booked Michael s for their celebration they waited 30 minutes to be seated for their reservation then another 30 for their bottle of wine. after a hour there salad had not been served and several couples had left got up and walked out. When they advised there waiter enough was enough he advised the would have pay for it because they ordered it. Need I say it got ugly. When we arrived for our reservation we were promptly seated just to have the same experience . waited for a drink order and then waited for the drinks while several groups left in discuss of the service and food. waiter came back to take our order before he brought our drinks when I asked were our drinks were he rushed off and brought them back in another 15 minutes . I just ask for the check he ask if we would take our drinks to go so someone else could have our table . I refused I enjoyed my Cadillac margarita and my wife enjoyed her wine and we left never to return again
All time favorite restaurant in Key West! Return every year. Service and food is top notch. Highly recommended, an absolute must if visiting KW!
What has happened to Michaels? This place used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Last night, the salad was wilted and tasteless, the chicken picatta dry (some of the toughest I have ever tasted), and when my husband's surf and turf arrived, it was the wrong order. Once his dinner came, he noticed his filet had been butterflied. One half was cooked perfectly (medium rare), but the other half was way past medium rare (well done). My husband did say however that the portion of the steak cooked correctly was excellent, and the shrimp was delicious. The carrot cake we shared for dessert was very tasty but had the consistency of pudding more than cake (very strange). When the manager asked about our dinners, we shared our disappointment in the meal. His response, "thanks for telling me."
We definitely won't be back anytime soon. Something has changed!
Meal sent back - sautéed fish way over cooked - served with cold rice . Waited over 40 minutes for a record of fish only to have it over cooked as well- lax attitude from manager who said “ it was a busy night”. Pathetic.
We met people the night before who had eaten at Michael's and recommended it so we gave it a try. Having two options on the menu for a small plate or a full size portion was the biggest draw for me. Generally portions are too big for me, never leaving any room for dessert. I got the small filet that came with mashed potatoes, kale and spinach. Happily, I had room for the rum cake for dessert!
Have been meaning to try Michael's for years and finally did it with my brother and S-I-L who were visiting. What a great restaurant. Cozy and great ambiance in a beautiful neighborhood. The ladies loved that you could get 1/2 portion of several of the entree selections. Service was fantastic and it was much appreciated that we were not rushed and allowed to linger. The only drawback we saw that could catch a visitor from out of town (and did not affect us because we knew better and walked) is that parking anywhere nearby is a challenge. But even if you have to walk from across town, it's worth it!
Got there and didn’t know about open table reservation. Sat us down anyways. To sum it up, you used to get a lot more food and higher end. Portions way down and prices same. (Had French onion soup and their signature meat). Aps came out all together rather than spread out. Huge wait between aps and main.
This was a recommendation from a friend. The service was horrible and the food was not that great. The flavors were very bland and the presentations were sloppy. For the price they were charging I would have expected more. The seats were extremely uncomfortable.
Excellent Service, Food was Great
