The hostess was friendly and very accommodating/ Our server was very helpful with the menu. we appreciated her suggestions and they turned out to be delicious. We enjoyed the outside fountains and dining. Excellent out of the way place. Will certainly go again.
Quiet outdoor ambience where many locals seem to gather. Especially for a special occasion. Great menu that emphasizes prime beef, exquisitely prepared & lovely salads and fresh seafood. Excellent drinks and a first class wine selection. Good variety of desserts.

We arrived for our reservation and were told our table wasn’t ready & to stand over the bar if we liked—15 minutes later the bartender took our drink order. Thirty minutes after arriving promptly for our reservation, we were shown to our table. Bread & water arrived however the table had no bread plates set for use. The waiter finally greeted us after a 10 minute wait at the table. The menu was interesting and the food presentation was appetizing. The waiter placed the wrong entree order for one in our party and therefore that meal didn’t arrive for 10 minutes after everyone else had begun eating. The waiter was very apologetic and comped 2 desserts for our table. Michael’s Restaurant came highly recommended by our hotel concierge and while the food was great, the overall experience was less than satisfactory. We were disappointed in our dinner experience and luckily had another night in Key West to enjoy a very memorable dinner elsewhere.
Portion sizes terribly small for the price. When we complained about the portion of the grilled octopus they did remove it from the bill. The meatloaf was excellent and that portion was fine. Chicken Picata was a very small portion. The other platters fell short of quantity .
Have heard about this restaurant for years. We decided to finally give it a try. We always enjoy dining experiences in Key West. Service was very slow, even by fine dining standards. Food was underwhelming as well as under done. While I waited for my steak to come back, it was ordered medium, was served very rare, I had a tastes of a fellow diner's fish and had a mouth full of bones. There was a large party across the room, perhaps this caused the wait for our dinners, but a restaurant of this supposed caliber should has been able to handle it. Will skip Michaels when next in town. Too many other great places in Key West.
Michael's is hidden away in a residential neighborhood so it's a bit off the main tourist area, about a 10-15 minute walk from Duval Street. Our server was efficient and the staff was attentive and pleasant. The potato soup special was one of the best bowls of soup I have had, and the French Onion Soup and BELT Salad were delicious as well. The 4 oz. filet mignon was cooked well and tasty though the sides were not particularly memorable. The roast beef sandwich came out almost rare but the server immediately offered to cook it more; it was flavorful though a bit fatty. The veal chop was tasty as well. They had a delicious-sounding list of fondues available, but be advised that if you are interested in the fondue menu, it is only available at the outside bar tables. Overall, the meal was good and the service was very attentive. Definitely order the soups!
Justin made our dining experience SPECTACULAR!!! He was consistently available but not overbearing. He was eager to offer suggestions and very knowledgeable about the menu and rum list. We dined within weeks after Irma and was pleasantly surprised at how well everyone was recovering (or at least appeared to be). We LOVE that the menu offers smaller portions allowing us to sample multiple dishes on the same occasion . The food is superior. This is now on the top of list of favorites in Key West( we live in Marathon) We will certainly make sure Justin is there next time.
I have to be honest. The only reason we visited was that I had earned a $50.00 Open Table Gift card and Michael's was only one of 4 restaurants that I could use it at in Key West. It was lovely. We sat indoors since the temps were very hot and humid. We heard from several locals that the steaks were really good there; but I have a very hard time paying those prices when we are perfectly capable of grilling out top quality steaks at home. I LOVE meatloaf and always want to try other peoples versions and I understood that it was Michael's mothers recipe. It was very traditional; nothing outstanding or note worthy but a good portion of comfort food. My husband really wanted Coconut Shrimp which is only on the appetizer menu. He asked if he could have that in a dinner and they said yes, but they DOUBLED the appetizer itself which resulted in WAY too much food. They did not serve it with the typical dipping sauce until we asked for it, and that was much needed as the Shrimp without some type of sauce was too dry. Our server was great and suggested a really nice bottle of wine which we enjoyed immensely. All in all it was a pleasant evening but if you're looking for something more adventurous in Key West, I would try some of the more ethnic offerings.
A nice neighborhood place. Service was very good. Food adequate but not worth the $ in my opinion. When I spend almost $50 for a steak, I expect an outstanding cut and received a lesser grade. Don't know if I would retry on my next visit to Key West given the many options in old town.
Amazing. I got the snapper and my husband the veal chop. Both were outstanding. We sat at the bar and our bartender, Ricardo, had the best suggestions and was wonderful. My only suggestion would be more variety with the Cabernet wine selection (I'm partial to the reds ;)) and we wish we had seen the fondue menu! Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall a wee bit disappointed.
Appetizers were very good. The fried oysters were some of the best I've had
The snapper special was very well presented with a nice sauce and balance to the sides served.
Service however was just ok and not really friendly.
I was pleased to see they had Hangar 1 vodka which makes and excellent dry martini for those who like that.
In summary, food was very good and well presented but the ambience and service diminished my experience.
The restaurant used to be outstanding. Unfortunately you can't rest on your laurels. The restaurant needs to be spruced up and the wait staff more attentive. The kitchen needs help. Both entrees were sent back. The Snapper had a salty cream sauce (not edible). The meatloaf dish was terrible. No kitchen should ever send out food "looking" so terrible.
The waiter was apologetic and both the new orders of Salmon and Snapper entrees were pretty good.
We were expecting great food for our 35th anniversary dinner in key West. Everyone told us Michaels is the finest restaurant on the island. When we booked the table, we indicated it was for our 35th wedding anniversary.
The food was fine, nothing special especially considering the price. I ordered the short ribs and my husband ordered the Cowboy
The staff was very formal and did not recognize the occasion.
The restaurant is in need of some sprucing up.
Was so excited to go here but was underwhelmed. Service was most disappointing, especially on my 40th birthday. Steak came out almost raw when ordered medium and server did not seem to care. Atmosphere was nice and I prob would much rather sit at bar than empty dining room. Disappointed and most disappointed no one seemed to care.
