We have vacationed in Key West for eight years and Michael's has always been on our dinner list. We have had fantastic meals there and many times they were the top contender for "best meal" in Key West. Not this time, something drastically changed. Our meal was average, if that. First, the dinner selection from the menu was poor, in mg opinion. No crab cakes, no scallops, nothing that remotely "wowed" me. I had a veal chop the night before at a different restaurant so by default choice, I went with the filet. Here is my "beef" with our experience, we started with the arugula salad and were given a very SMALL portion. Very tasty, but just a few greens and a few beetsb with a tiny amount of goat cheese. I try to stay away from bread, but I had to because of hunger. The first round of bread was not fresh and appeared re-heated. Second round was hit and fresh. Entree- unknown to me there was a 4oz. filet and 8 oz filet on the menu, but our waitress never asked which size we wanted. We were automatically both given the 4 oz size. My dinner was served on a salad plate. SMALL portion of potatoes, just a few leaves of kale and spinach, and the small sized portion of filet. All tasty but "zero" "wow" for me. We can get the same thing back home in our home town, only better. Lastly my two glasses of wine cost more than my entire meal. That is just crazy and is what drove me to write such a poor review. I left the restaurant VERY hungry! The last two nights we dined out, the meals were so fantastic, this just made Michael's even more disappointing. When I vacation and I am spending the money, I expect the best. This experience was so average it left me "deflated" and partially angry that Michael's was once so good with innovative entrees and good sized portions to this. Sorry, not sure what happened or why you changed things so drastically but you lost my business.

Staff was extremely attentive. Ordered a large “Our Salad” for the table; it was delicious and plentiful. My husband and I then split the meatloaf which was delicious and serving portion was enough for the both of us. Service was great and they were very accommodating as we were dining with our 8 month old child. The ambience was beautiful.

A perfect dinner. We were initially seated inside, but it was an ideal evening for patio dining, and upon request we were seated outside. Ryan was our server, and he proved quite capable. A little understated but knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. The tuna nachos starter sounded different and they were; quite spicy but a taste sensation. Ryan recommended the yellow snapper with artichokes and his recommendation was spot on. A little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it for a very nice dinner.

We were visiting Key West for my husbands 40th and someone suggested this restaurant. The location was lovely, we sat outside and the weather was perfect. I ordered the Veal and my husband the Strip. The food was good but wasn't great - and we really wanted it to be great because we had a tough time finding a place in the area that wasn't just fancy bar food (which don't get me wrong we are TOTALLY fine with, but wanted one really yummy special occasion dinner while visiting). The drinks were expensive considering that every other bar served the same mojito for $5 less. I don't mean to sound like we didn't enjoy ourselves, because we did - but it didn't live up to the hype. Our server was great, the timing of the meal with the salads and starters was perfect, we didn't feel rushed at all. If we visit Key West again, we won't go back - we will try someplace new.

Let me start with a disclaimer. I am from Pittsburgh where fine dining is always on point. Food and service is excellent every time. I bragged to my friend from Toronto about Michael's from my visit several years ago. I had three friends with me. We were sat thirty minutes late. When I had a discussion with the owner about the wait in order to give her personal feedback (instead of online and far too late about it) she said I was condescending and loud (as I learn from her my voice carries...guarantee I never raised my voice). I was trying to tell her to be up front on how she could have made things right...which she eventually said I was going to give you free desserts. We didn't want them.I returned to the table and my friends ask why I was talking to my "friend" so long as they all witnessed it. I didn't want compensation. I ask just to make my friend from Toronto feel special. He ordered steak medium rare and got medium well. I tried to have another conversation and she was not only not open to listening to me she had her chef/husband (understand he would come to her defense which is respectable) and another friend verbally attack me outside the restaurant and would not listen to anything I would say...stating that I was yelling. I was not. Friends beside the conversation did not hear anything I I "yelled" at her. I never felt more disrespected at a restaurant. Food for two out of four was good; cold or overcooked for two. The server did his best, however, at this point his mood was flat the remainder of the evening.This restaurant is the greatest fall from grace I have ever experienced. And honestly the owner doesn't care about what you have to say. She only cared about her reputation as should would sit with me inside her restaurant to have that conversation. be was terrible for fine dining. doesn't matter ...none us will ever go back. You may catch her on a good night, but that's a gamble you will have to take.

Drinks were slow coming and being ordered.
Lots of waiting starting out. Evening got better as night emptied out customers. Food was good.
Expensive for the service. Has lost ambiance. Lights bright music more the helps taste. I will keep going back because of the many good times there.

Quaint, quiet location in Key West; great ambiance inside and out. Service was excellent and staff friendly n gregarious and helpful. Great memu options although my wife and I thought the entrees would be helped with a bit more bold seasoning. Overall a very good experience, highly recommended.

I was impressed the hostess remembered me from prior visits and accommodated my seating preference which I had requested when making the reservationvation. The food was excellent and innovative. Strangely the large and small portions of fish looked identical except for the size of the plate

All the food was exceptional including the deserts. The ambiance is exceptional at all outdoor seating and the noise level in the rear outdoor room is at whisper level. All in all MichEls is my favorite Key West restaurant

We had both the Mahi Mahi and the Veal Chop. Both were outstanding. It started with Great ambience, but slowly became where we could not talk quietly together. The family next to us had an unruly child that was screaming almost the whole time.

Ordered the Porterhouse steak. Steak was ice cold, overcooked. I asked for the manager and he came over and was not very friendly and his customer service skills were non existent. The restaurant was not busy and to serve food ice cold that cost $49.00 for a steak was unacceptable.
Will never go back due to the way the manager handled the situation.

Michaels has always been our go to spot. We stopped in for our anniversary and were expecting the same wonderful experience. Unfortunately, we had a lengthy wait for our food. One of the dinners was completely wrong and two of the steaks were well done instead of medium. Maybe it was just an off night but with so many other restaurants to try
We'll have to give a few others a go.

Well, my girlfriends and I spend 10 days in Key West every year. Our last night we eat out. We had been gong to the same pace for years but found Michaels on Google, and tok on line The food was reasonable priced and really good. The cocktails were way to pricey for us. Had not been here for a few years, but walking by in the morning we noticed that they had half portions of many of their entrees. Since we were leaving Key West the next morning, we knew we could not take any leftovers with us so the half portion option was appealing. Food was okay--nothing spectular, but nothing terrible. Seems like Michael's is just "tired" so to speak. Service, on the other hand was top notch. Waitress was Brittani I believe and since server's tips are dependent on how much food is ordered, I expected her to "push" us to order larger quantities of food then we wanted. Exactly the opposite. She was pleasant and even encourage us to order just soup and a half portion of an entree as we could only get last minute reservations for 5:30. For that alone I would consider going back on our next visit to Key West. However, I would say there are other options in Key West where I would opt to go.

The octopus appetizer was not very good. Too chewy and over cooked. My porterhouse steak was very good and cook as ordered. My wife had the mahi-mahi special that was excellent.

The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The unique garden with fountain was a pleasant place to enjoy our meal. Our meals were exquisite and we all enjoyed them. Will definitely return.

Very pleasant atmosphere; nice service; interesting and appealing choices on the menu. I ordered a 14 oz Cajun-seasoned ribeye cooked medium and it was the toughest ribeye I can ever remember - didn't stop me from eating it all. But, that would keep me from going back.
