Went for brunch. Both the food and the service were excellent.
Food was good. Drinks fair, from the bar. Best part was the quiet ambiance
Everything went perfect. Since the moment we arrived. The seating was as requested, the service flawless, the staff friendly and helpful and the food delicious. All I can say is congrats for being a great restaurant!
Great find! We live in the south bag and needed a place to meet friends who live in Orange County, so we picked Michael’s based on reviews and it was better than we expected—staff friendly and knowledgeable, great ambiance, and excellent food.
Very good restaurant; a bit on the pricy side, but very good value for money.
when I walk in and the bar has Suze!!! and my meal was just as great as I remembered my last visit...highly recommend
Always consistently good here!
Outstanding service and food. Six stars if possible.
We get to this area once a year as we are from San Diego, and this was our second visit to Michael's. We happened in on a night that was restaurant week, so they had specials for that event, and in addition a wine dinner with the winery representative from Italy, who had just flown in. Our server Paul provided us an outstanding explanation of the menu, the specials, and the wine dinner. We opted for the wine dinner where the dishes were pared with an array of wines that were not only excellent, but very reasonable (and available for purchase). I must admit that when I read the paring, that I might not have selected one or two of the wines with the dish, but what did I know, as they were a perfect matches. Hats off to the team that put the meal of five dishes and wines together.
The winery rep Dr. Tiziana Sani Bulleri from Fattoria Uccelliers took the time to stop and chat with us. We had been in the area of their winery in Tuscany, but were not familiar with them. Will be on our list if we return.
All in all an exceptional evening of food and service from the time we walked in until the time we left. A most enjoyable evening that we will remember. Looking forward to returning next year.
One of our best dining experiences ever. The service was perfect and the food was amazing. The combinations of flavors and presentations were superb.
For the price, I expected lot more. Dishes in general are good, but won’t blow your mind, some are just fine. Didn’t ask but got charged for tap water, $1 per glass.... it’s one of those things that just doesn’t make sense, it changes nothing in terms of the total bill, but in the end is annoying. I have to say that service is very good, from the hostess, to the server, to the helpers. Bottom line, I will probably try another Italian restaurant in the area next time
The food was good but overpriced for what we ordered. The ambiance is a bit dated. Our waiter had really bad breath :-(
We were meeting my cousin and his wife who we haven’t seen in several years. Our server Paul was the highlight of the evening. Two of the four meals, the risotto and the linguine were just OK. The lasagna that my wife had was probably the best thing we ate. My Orrchiete was tasty but didn’t have as much sausage as I would have liked. The wine recommendation was very good.
Our server Paul was excellent. His recommendations were thoughtful and appropriate. Wonderful service matched with great food.
The bartender was a little loud and could brush up on his manners.
Upon arrival I realized I had left my wallet at home which was 3/4 of a mile away. So Michelle, the assistant GM, was kind enough to drive me home to get my wallet.
Meal was excellent and what we have come to expect; service was also excellent.
The restaurant has very appealing decor, a nice quiet smaller room (where we ate) and a living upstairs bar and outside patio.
I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
Delicious and great service. Will be back.
Food was good, service was decent. Ambiance was bad. Bad lighting and bad music.
Food was decent. Over priced. Forced into 5 course meal on valentine's day, that was not worth the money. $300 for 2 people and left hungry.
My pasta was underwhelming. The lasagna my husband always orders looked good.
The restaurant is incredibly cozy and the staff is friendly.
Other than being a bit pricey and some loud guests behind us(pretty sure they were drunk) the dinner was excellent. Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable... honsetly the best waiter ive ever had. Very friendly staff, great food.
Arrived early and was not given any time on when we would be say. When we were told to close out as our table was ready, at our reservation time, we closed out and stood up waiting to be sat. Two parties who came in after we were already standing and waiting were sat ahead of us. Then we were told we had to wait as our server had just been double sat. Then we were told we had to wait as our table was not actually ready and they had to clean and set it. When we were sat, we waited 5 minutes for menus. Then our server came over, told us he would be back in two minutes so we could look at the menu. 23 minutes later, yes TWENTY-THREE, a manager (?) came over and asked if there was anything we needed. Mentioned we would like to order and let her know how long it had been. She just said oh and seemed annoyed at us. Took our order. 10 minutes after that our server came back to take our order. obviously no communication. We received our appetizers and a few dishes we did not order. Manager was trying to apologize but there was no formal apology, no words from her or our server. Then our main meal took another 30 minutes after that and was wrong. We did not want to wait any longer so kept the dish but once again not sign of our server and no apology, once again seemed annoyed at us (it was taken off the bill). Server finally came back and dropped desert menus and left us waiting again. Did bring out a desert wine and scoop of gelato as it was a birthday but after we had said no to the other deserts. Then once again waited a very long time for our bill and for them to take the payment. We ended up being the last ones in the restaurant and not by choice. No real apology from anyone. Felt like we did not exist and were a burden.
I had a DineLA dinner here at the bar and it was perfect!
Totally bummed. This was a special occasion dinner and we selected the tasting menu. We expected phenomenal food for the price. The black cod and cheesecake were excellent, but everything else was mediocre. Our server was great, but the speed at which the courses came out (not his fault) was really slow. For nearly $300, we expected a lot more. We won’t be back.
Went for the Dine LA special. I have eaten here before but this was the most perfect meal I’ve had in a long time. I want to go back soon. We have 10 dishes for $100.
It was so good that by the end of the meal, all I could do was think about when I was coming back. Paul was an outstanding server, friendly and excellent and anticipating any requests. The food is outstanding and the best word I can use is refreshing!
The food was good. We told the hostess that some of our party were hard of hearing and we were seated upstairs which is very noisy. The dining room downstairs would have been much better.
Food was great and service was as well
We've been here enough times that we know the menu, and the staff knows us. We usually order the same things. The biscuits are addicting!
We were seated immediately. Our server Paul was wonderful. Very friendly and informative. We ordered, food came Putin a relaxed way. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, service and evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and a good night. Will definitely return again.
Thought the service was incredibly slow. Upon arrival for our reservation, we were asked to sit at the bar. 10 mins later, we still were waiting to order our drink. A few minutes later, we were seated, but took almost 25 mins for bread, 40 mins for our bottle of wine. At $400+ for two people, I would have expected more prompt service.
What a rip off! $450 for two on New Year’s Eve. Ordinary, bland and utterly uninspired food. Could have made better salmon and ribeye at home and I’m not a chef. Pasta was tasteless. Lobster was shredded and bland. Desert looked like it wa squeezed from a tube. Horrible!
They ran out of pizza dough for their pizza appetizer.., they have a pizza spot next door..... an easy resolve I would say .. the risotto was not cooked enough.. al dente to the extreme. That was sent back. The second batch was a tad better but still very undercooked. The restaurant handled the situation but the point was to eat and be satisfied. It was very busy at the rooftop and in the downstairs dining area. Still not an excuse. I’m
Sure I’ll be back but not when it’s super busy.
Always enjoy Michael’s. Excellent food and service!!
Family Christmas Dinner
We had to go to the hostess to complain about our server because we have been sitting for over 20 min without someone asking for our orders. Pizza was great but pasta was underwhelming. We were just so turned off by the service we received throughout the entire night and was close to just walking out.
Michael's is one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service is always top notch. The Branzino is excellent. Our waiter this year was Manuel and he was very accommodating with our food allergy requests. We always enjoy our meals and excellent service at Michael's. There are very few restaurants that top this one.
Beautiful quaint classy restaurant! Our server John was fair however his servers were superior. Small expensive portions, but over all good food, just very expensive for what it is. I will go again for a special occasion.
