Michael's on Naples Ratings and Reviews
Excellent time. We were a larger group celebrating 2 birthdays. The entire staff was very welcoming. We were taken care of with kid gloves from the time we sat at the bar for pre-dinner cocktails until we were seated for dinner. Our waiter Manuel was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. And-- the food was phenomenal!
We decided to try the "Tasting Menu" since I love them and haven't seen them outside Las Vegas. We got the Pasta Tasting and the Meats Tasting and shared both. This gave us 10 different AMAZING plates to share. The entire experience was incredible. The server admitted that he was a trainee but was fantastic, answering our questions and sharing anecdotes. Each plate that arrived was incredibly tasty from Octopus to Lobster to Duck, homemade Pasta etc etc. When we voiced our enthusiasm at the end of the meal, the CHEF came out and spoke with us for awhile. I have never had this happen and was overwhelmed by the personal service almost as much as the incredible bites. One of my best culinary experiences EVER! Props to Michael's. We will be back since being told the tasting menu changes regularly.
We all ordered the pasta-tasting menu, which was five courses, plus I had the wine pairing. Everything was delicious, and the wines were perfectly matched. We also received friendly and attentive service. This was my third visit, and it's becoming one of my favorites.
I've dined at Michael's on numerous occasions and always sit on the rooftop. It's such a nice atmosphere, very upbeat and happy. If you're looking for something quiet and cozy, this is not the place for you. But, if you're wanting fun, laughter, a great wine list and delicious food...Michael's is for you!
Once seated (after having our reservation validated downstairs) a woman approached and rather curtly asked if we had a reservation and under what name. She then checked my wife's response. Had we not had a reservation would we have been told to leave once seated?! RUDE! It took us almost an hour to finally receive our entrees. Too long! The food was good, but not worth the high price. Our birthday dinner was less than a gift, and since there are many good restaurants in Long Beach, we will try one of them the next time we go to dinner.
Michael's on Naples is a high quality dining experience which I enjoy immensely on special occasions. I do have one nit pick point . I am a vegetarian and always let the restaurant know before I arrive - plus we tell the waiter (just in case). Michael's always gives a chef "taster" item and the very first time I went they offered a vegetarian option. Every time since then they just provide the taster regardless of whether I can eat it or not. This is not a big deal since it is a taster and you don't pay for it, plus someone else I am with always eats it but it does strike me as odd that they don't say anything when they bring it to the table.
Also it would be nice to have a couple of more choices on the menu (clearly marked) for vegetarian dining. Please note - that the mushroom ravioli looks vegetarian but please check - they provided it without the glaze that would normally be drizzled over the top since that contained meat. (It was delicious without the glaze so perhaps that's the way they should serve it normally.)
Food is always wonderful but a bit spendy. Our waiter insisted on reading the ENTIRE menu to us which was nerve wracking and we think he messed up since it took well over an hour to get the food while folks that came in later were finished eating by the time our food was served. The waiter blamed it on the fact that the kitchen was busy preparing food for a party of 20. I doubt that because others were not affected. Since we frequent this restaurant, I will dismiss the waiter's behavior.
Celebrated 16 years of marriage at Michael's and we had a wonderful dinner experience. Our server went above and beyond to make sure we had a special evening. The food was exceptionally fresh and full of flavor. With 4 kids, we don't get as many opportunities to have a dinner date, so I am glad we chose Michael's. We will definitely be back!
Was there for LB restaurant week. Enjoyed the food very much. Ate outside on their patio deck. Did not enjoy the smoke fumes from their pizza restaurant next door. Also service was ok in that the waitress was very friendly but did not know how to properly set food/utensils on the table. She just sort of dropped everything at the edge of the table so I had to reach to get my drink/food. Kind of felt like self-service, not on par with the prices and the quality of the food. I would eat there again but not outside as I am sensitive to smoke fumes.
Very much underwhelmed. We ate here and had the Dine LBC special menu for $55. Based on the prices on the menu, the meal should have cost $40. If the additional $15 was for tax and tip, that was not made clear on the menu so we added a tip and probably shouldn't have. Portions were very small. The lamb and the pork were tasteless. Quite disappointing. Good wine list however.
