I reserved an outdoor table and expected to be on the back deck. It turned out the back deck was closed. The courtyard had a band laying, way too loud for any conversation. The food was good and came quickly. Service was excellent until we asked to split the bill evenly on two cards. It came back half on one and total amount on the other. It was easily corrected, but I’m sure glad I checked and didn’t just sign.
Very nice lunch - outdoor dining on back patio was pleasant - service and food great.
Good value but nothing too special. The food and service was fine but nothing to rave about.
Delightful brunch under the gazebo with trees snd creek in the background.
Our table was all set and ready. Our waitress was very helpful. The food was tasty.
Great Pizza! Fantastic Music. Friendly Service :-)
We celebrated a family birthday here. Garden view spectacular. Bees a little annoying 'til we figured out how to feed them so they'd go away (salmon bit on the rail). Late afternoon dining so don't know about evening. Reserve early. We reserved late & had to eat much earlier to enjoy this sweet spot near the coast.
I met a dear friend who was visiting from out of town whom I hadn't seen in years to have lunch at Michael's on Main. We were both impressed with the waitstaff as well the delicious food. Thanks for a great experience!
Great place to be able to eat outdoors and good food.
Great food and service. All 7 entrees were good. Prices are very reasonable.
Nice friendly place
Awesome ambiance, food, staff, and music! We’ll definitely be going again.
Our group had a wonderful experience! Good food, great ambience and very friendly staff!
Always a wonderful experience and love that they are so dog friendly. The back deck is so lovely overlooking the river.
We love Michael’s, brought family for lunch, had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the food, waitstaff is fabulous.
Dance nights are the best, especially Grateful Sunday!
The place is really a dump. Looks like it’s never ever been refurbished in 50 years. Very poor service. Will never return.
Loved eating on the deck with a view of the river. I especially enjoyed the beautiful trees, the little duck family and the squirrels.
There was only one server for the patio and the indoor dining room. She took our order right away but when I flagged her down fifteen minutes later to see if we could get our beers she hadn’t forgotten we had ordered. The lettuce and pickles on my hamburger were wilted as if they had been under a heat lamp too long. I realize the restaurant industry is having a hard time attracting workers right now but this was my birthday lunch and it wasn’t the relaxing meal I had wanted.
Had a lovely, relaxed brunch for Father’s Day. Great service and great food - everyone enjoyed their meals.
Too loud, food was pretty poor
Most diners chose the patio, but we had a window table in the dining room where we could watch the birds and wild ducks. I had the Traditional Breakfast and husband had the reuben sandwich with fries. Both were excellent.
I’ll go back for sure, the ambiance is relaxed and friendly. The service was slow and several mistakes, but probably just reopening issues.
Seems MOM is more focused on the music scene these days. Food was just average, my $9 Caesar salad was small and flavorless. Pretty disappointing, overall.
Here are a few of my favorite dishes:
Char-Grilled Prawns $14 - Sweet and spicy Thai-chíle glazed over creamy polenta GF **
Blackened Chicken Wrap (also available GF** nacho-style) $16 - Black beans, lettuce, cheese, avocado, chipotle aioli, served w/ house made tortilla chips, pico de gallo
Reuben Sandwich $15 - Corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss, 1,000 Island dressing,
grilled between rye, garnished w/ kosher dill pickle
Michael’s Potatoes $13 - Cheesy Bavarian sausage, potatoes, and eggs scrambled
together & topped with melted aged cheddar, toast
Everything is delicious!
Food was good enough. Service was slow. Waitress missed taking one of our party's orders. Didn't have the right number of place setting on the table for our 6 top. Slow with taking our dinner and dessert orders. Waitress had to be flagged down multiple times . Dessert took nearly 15 minutes to come out, even though there was nothing that required cooking.
Eating on the deck at Michael's on Main is a great experience!
Great food, great staff, great ambiance! My go-to restaurant!
Very relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful outdoor setting. Excellent food
Mothers Day! Expected more. Boring menu, no flowers, plants or decoration, ate outside, patio was stark. Service was very good and food was fine and prepared as ordered.
What a lovely surprise! I am not particularly keen on sitting outside but we sat on the back terrace and it was so shady and secluded and peaceful. There must have been a creek because there were ducks waddling off not too far away. Our waitress served quite a few tables (it was Mother's Day weekend) and she was very busy but unflappable and always smiling. The food was solidly good and the prices were very reasonable! Great menu--something for everyone! The four of us were all very happy with our food choices and the restaurant in general. A sweet place to go and you really feel like you are away from it all.
We will definitely be back!
Took 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee let alone order. Waitress complaining about how busy it was. There was 4 tables occupied.
When we finally got to order it was 10:50am and a couple people wanted to order lunch items. After being given the line about they don’t serve lunch until 11:00am it took till 11:05am to get an answer wether we could order or not with it being a big favor for us.
Food was decent. Small portions though.
Every time we visit Santa Cruz we always enjoy meal at Michaels on Main. Wonderful food and wonderful outdoor patio to enjoy it
I am so grateful to have a local restaurant, that has brilliant entertainment, great food and highly safe. The food is terrific, the service is wonderful and Michael and his crew have responded beautifully to all the challenges that come with a pandemic. I am so proud of them. And, lots of people have had secure entertainment and great food through it all❤️ You will love it!
Reviews like yours make it all worth it! Thank you so much!!!
Michael's on Main is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great and I love to have lunch on their outdoor deck by the creek.
Food is a little expensive for what you get. But the desserts are excellent.
Outdoor seating was fine, but a little noisy with crying babies and wind blowing leaves into food.
ridiculously slow service, several times did we want to just get up and leave because of how long it took JUST to get our order placed. overpriced mediocre food. basically same level as black bear diner/denny’s. host put their hands ALL OVER our utensils before piling them on the table?? we felt uncomfortable & neglected compared to other (white customers). also not their fault but another customer was aggressive towards us & wanted to start a fight on our way out for no reason? i guess we “looked at her wrong” whilst we were wearing our masks?? anyway i’m rly sorry but this place is rated way too high for what it is, we honestly felt slighted. will definitely not be going back.
I am very troubled by your review. It is unsettling that you had such a negative experience. It would be so helpful to know who sat you and who waited on you. This is absolutely not our hope for any customer. Clearly we failed you as new customers. I wish I had been there to try and improve your dining experience, both with the quality of your service, and the quality of your food selections. If you should decide to give us another chance, please reach out to me. Michael Harrison, Owner
Service was good. Had lunch here on the front patio. It was very nice with shade canopy and heat lamp. Had one of the specials, a prawn salad with asparagus and avocado. Sounded delicious, but was very disappointing. I pictured a beautiful crisp bed of greens / lettuce topped with a few prawns, some asparagus and avocado. I got a small, limp pile of flavorless greens topped with grilled prawns (okay), no asp, no avo to be seen. Found 3 pieces of asp, 1 piece of avo under greens. One piece of asp was chewy / woody, had to spit it out. Ordered more dressing to add flavor to greens. I would hesitate to order a special salad again and would ask the price. This salad was $23.
Thank you for your honest feedback; it helps us to gain perspective and work to improve the quality of our product. I hope you give us another chance soon.
The space, ambiance, and service were great. The food wasn't so great. The food was a bit pricey for the quality. The best thing was the grilled shrimp.
