Entertainment/atmosphere was really nice and food was awesome. The waiter however never came back to check on us. We had to track him down to request a to go container, waited another 30 minutes he appeared at the table next to us and We then asked for the container again and the bill. I’m thinking he was perhaps new as the other waiters/waitresses seemed attentive to their tables. I want this business to be successful so will definitely be giving it a 2nd chance.
Thought I was going to dinner however, there was a special event where they charged us a cover charge, had a limited menu, automatic gratuity was added for every drink (even at the bar) & meal for only 2 people, and the food was not good.
The greens were Salty, the fried green tomatoes were extremely fried hard, the fried catfish was not done in the middle and the lemon pepper wings were 2 hard to eat as well.
I had a nice time. Not sure how covid safe my experience was, but overall I had a wonderful experience.
Beautiful spot, still working kinks out in the kitchen. Waitstaff very attentive. Can we get a local band other than "Natural Change"? DJ was GREAT during band breaks!
Awesome! Great food
Wait staff needs professional training, need vegetarian meals.
Unfortunately we didn’t even eat, showing up right when they open may not be a great idea. We waiting until 1
I was blown away when a friend of mine turned me on to Michael's. The owner, staff, ambience, entertainment and the food...Slammin!!! Coupled with the afore mentioned, the're located 10 minutes from my crib. Goof job!
Worse dining experience ever. It literally took 90 minutes to receive our meal. The reason we did not leave was we went for a gospel brunch and came more the event then the food. Our server did not check on us once. We had to call her over with the response being yea I know they are working on it. Everyone who came an hr after us was served 1st. We finally received the cold food once the venue was over.
Also the chicken and waffle dish do not get. You could smell the dirty oil the chicken was fried in as soon as the plate was placed in from us. Our table size was a party of 4. Some of the people ate next door we know now to do the same.
Going on the generous side. I read reviews before I went for the Sunday Gospel Brunch and hoped service times had improved. But sadly no. Positives first though... the space is beautiful and laid out nice. It's a great vibe and atmosphere in there. I felt like I was walking in a nice, classy establishment. Live music was good. I'd suggest nice ambience music in between acts to keep the vibe and not just no music. Negatives and I hate to say because I had such high hopes but I have to be honest ... over an hour wait and our order of shrimp and grits and steak and eggs never came out. The brunch menu is limited items and small so I don't understand how you can't keep up with those limited items. The waitstaff was doing the best they could but seemed a overwhelmed. I can't rate the quality of food because after waiting more than an hour we left. The place has great potential but obviously the kitchen needs some major help. I honestly will visit again because I wish them well and success. But maybe just for drinks and to see how it's going.
We had to find someone to seat us. The menu was limited. We placed our meal order & waited over an hour for our food, before finally walking out. We noticed others around, not pleased with their meals.
I did not like that they sat people at our table that we did not know. We had a reservation. And this is not a good practice especially with COVID on the rise. The entertainment is always good and is my only reason for going. Our food took 2 hours to arrive. It’s a good venue but this place needs better management!
Great location. Need more staff...The menu is very limited...
Took an hour and a half to receive our food. Very nice establishment but food and service terrible.
We were one of 1st to arrive, but took 20 mins for someone to take drink order and 30 to get the drinks. We put food order in with drinks and the show got to intermission and still we had no food. There was a big party there. We arrived at least 20 mins prior to them, but they had food and drinks before us. Did I mention we were among the 1st to arrive?
On top of that that sat 2 other folks at our table. No one explained to us that could happen. It was our Anniversary so we did not want to share with people we didn't know.
We never got to taste the food and finally cancelled and left.
It was our Anniversary and wanted to show support, but the lack of service means probably wont go back.
The band was Awesome. The atmosphere was great
The food was excellent and the entertainment was good as well.
Great venue, delicious food
Michael's is an up-and-coming dining experience. The atmosphere was great. The live band was what we wanted. The service was exceptional. Shout out to our server Alaina B. for taking really good care of us. We will be back.
Add seasoning to the fried chicken and training for your staff. Everything else is roses.
The Sunday Jazz Brunch was excellent. I will for sure highly recommend the restaurant.
Food and atmosphere was great
Great venue , and delicious food
Great ambiance, great music, classy crowd.
I ordered Cornish he. And it was a little overdone/tough on bottom side.
But other than that it was great!
Recommend a little dessert for birthday guests!
Our waiter was courteous and repeatedly apologized for the extraordinary delay in receiving our food. We both ordered chicken and waffles and it took approximately an hour to receive our food. Additionally the receipt of two partial chicken wings with the order seemed disproportionate to the price Additionally, We were highly disappointed and it is unlikely we will make a return visit. The other diners seemed similarly disappointed. The one positive note was our waiter. He did his best to make our visit enjoyable and to compensate for the long wait. However since he was not the cook the challenge was beyond his capabilities. I must also note the restaurant only had a few diners so the delays can’t be attributed to crowd size
Worst service I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime.! Ordered the steak and egg, steak was supposed to be medium came out burnt. Receive one egg on the menu it states two eggs. I was the second group in the restaurant waited 61 minutes for food to come out. As a restaurant Guru, I wanted to cater to all black restaurants because I’m black! Order drinks 45 minutes before we received our drinks. Little FYI if you have every server dropping off food instead of their own tables only you probably can increase your service times and ticket times. All servers touch the table regardless we’re not in the nostalgia days so you need to catch up with the new millennium speed your ticket times up great atmosphere but won’t be returning. Another tip teacher managers had to be cognizant of what’s going on in your restaurant I would generally say 80% of the people were unhappy yes 80%. We were there which was two hours. After hour and 45 minutes call the general manager out to speak to us. Great concept poor service will kill you every time!
I could clean up and fix your concept in one day increase your service create better food presentation! I am done talking about your concept I wish you guys good luck in the future.
PS: The general manager God bless her soul, pay for ours food, As a business owner that’s the first thing management do that doesn’t solve the problem. We did not want any free hand out what I want it was good service in a black restaurant.
This were our second time visiting Michael's of Las Colinas. This place is that could have great potential when they have hired enough staff, I definitely will not give up on them 😀. My only complaint, maybe question would be more appropriate, I ordered the blackened Salmon, man for the price, it was so tiny. I thought they made a mistake 🤔, I want order it again unless it matures 🤣🤣. It was just okay. I can truly say both times we have gone, hubby and I have been pleasantly surprised that the staff have been phenomenal in making sure we were okay. My suggestion is that they do a better presentation with the blackened Salmon the dish is not one that was impressive at all, which is a favorite of mine. Oh by the vegetables are all cooked with pork 🤮. This needs to maybe change, non pork eaters loves vegetables. We will definitely be back, I love this place. People don't give up on them ,give them your constructive feedback and hope they will take each of our comments at only sharing with them on what the customer would like to change. #wesupportourblackownedbusiness❤🙏🏽👏🏾💪🏾
Great atmosphere, lovely way to spend Sunday afternoon
Didn’t seems as though they were prepared to start service at the time of my reservation which was 11:30 am. Our drink order took along time to arrive at our table. Side dishes were cold.
They didn’t have the greater selection of foods on the menu & the server didn’t know that. No Live music like the advertisement states & the server didn’t support the owner of the restaurant.
Food was okay. Chili beans were very salty, didn’t have oxtail or collard greens.
Catfish was good.
Myself and a coworker went after work, we purposely didn’t eat all day in preparation for the food and we were sadly disappointed, Appetizers were lemon pepper wings and fried green tomatoes, the wings were good however the tomatoes were disappointing, they were gummy and didn’t have any flavor. I ordered the ribeye, mashed potatoes and greens, my steak came rare and I ordered medium well, the mashed potatoes lack flavor and the greens had too much vinegar. My coworker got fried catfish, mac and cheese and French fries, the catfish was fishy, the Mac and cheese was not baked as stated and tasted like artificial cheese. It’s only been open for over a month, so hopefully it gets better
This was my first time visiting, of course I went to hear Martha Burks, the food was good, could have been hotter, it was just warm. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive to our needs. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Oh by the way you don't have to feel rushed to leave like other establishments, I want put them on blast.
It was my first visit. I did not know that the menu was not available. It was very limited and I don’t eat waffles. I tried to get the chicken only — but no sides available besides waffles. It was not what I expected at all. But for the first time, it just wasn’t what I’m used to in Las Colinas. I’ve lived here for some time and expected something upscale - not just upscale pricing.
I get it. It’s a club environment. I’m not sure if I will try again but it will definitely not be on a Sunday. Wish you success.
I can with me family for myself and my mothers birthday, total party of 12. I scheduled a reservation a day before but when I came up to the restaurant they were not aware of my reservation. From there they were accommodating to the additional people in our party because our first reservation was for 10 people and it ended up being 12. Katrice was attentive however the food came out in waves. A chicken and waffles for some or undercooked, and they ran out of waffle batter and used pancake batter for the waffles which came out and cooked in flat. I ordered the steak and eggs medium for the steak.
The steak however came out medium well too well done both times they redid my meal. Eventually I did not eat at my own birthday dinner. Very disappointed in the service and quality of food, however, the ambience and people in my party kept me in high spirits. Yet I will never be attending this restaurant for a second disappointment.
Made reservations online, got to the establishment and they did not have any seating for my guests. The manager argued with me and one of my guests. No chairs to sit at the bar, We waited on drink order, which never came, Finally left the establishment one hour later and still could not get seated. It was my birthday and it really started horribly,
First of all this was my first time going to this place I had reservations for 8:00 I arrived at 7:45 when I came into the restaurant they didn’t have a table for us they seated us at the bar it took them 20 minutes before asking us what we wanted to eat so I tried the stuff crab cakes they were cold my husband got the barbecue wings they were hard then we ordered to catfish dinner with fries that wasn’t good we asked them if we could have the check cause we was ready to go it took them forever to give us check . Since my experience there was so horrible I will not be coming back there they didn’t make us feel welcome.
The greens were salty and peppery. My $16 salmon was very small and it only came with one side. The mac n cheese was semi-dry, but not bad tasting. It just seemed all really salty to me. It was alright. My drink was very plain looking, no razzle dazzle but decent.
They have to get their recipes together. It just don't make no sense. ( Got me using incorrect English.) They cook their black-eyed peas in a butter sauce. WHO PUTS BUTTER ON BLACK-EYED PEAS!!!!!!!!!!! Cabbage was over seasoned with salt. Yams were under seasoned. Crabcakes had lots of crab but also some minced meat type of shananigans. They were large. Fried green tomatoes--okay. Mozarella sticks, you can find better ones in the freezer section at Piggly Wiggly. 😁 The "Whole Lotta" and the "Cosmo" drinks were amaze-balls. Bottom line, eat before you go. Ham mercy!!!
This is a great location for good food and good music. We have needed a place like this for a long time
Michael’s is a really nice establishment. However they were not prepared during our visit. Our reservation was at 11:30 and they didn’t have any of the food that we wanted to try ready. They didn’t have gumbo, pork chops, oxtails etc. All they had to offer was fish and chicken which was a bomber. A manager came out to offer complimentary dessert for our inconvenience, however they also didn’t have any of the dessert we wanted either. They were unprepared and unorganized. The fish that we ordered was average.
