Michael Jordan's The Steak House N.Y.C. Ratings and Reviews
I took my friend here for his birthday last night (11/16). Service was great! I do not recall the names of the two gentlemen who serviced our table (one was a gentleman who wore a suit. He was training a waiter last night) BUT they were amazing. Very informative; answered all of my questions and every offered suggestions for when I requested something that wasn’t on the menu. I’d definitely come back.
We had a table booked at 9pm and it felt like we had to rush through our dinner. Waiters were just waiting for us to finish. Steak was ok-ish but have had much better ones in Ruth‘s Christ. Surrounding is fantastic though. Still would have expected much better service for the rate.
Disappointing visit. We went to celebrate a birthday, but no celebration was made! We were sat by the stairs, although there were nicer tables on the mezzanine available. The steak was OK but not better than that. It was a bit tough. We’ve been before and it was great, but we won’t rush back.
The staff was just fabulous. They were so kind and polite and made the experience great. We stayed a long time and were not rushed even a little. The group I was with, had not seen each other for 2 years and they understood that by letting us stay as long as we needed. The only downside was I left hungry.
Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived. I felt like I was welcomed and at home. I really loved the waitstaff and how everything was executed. You can see that there’s a sense of urgency towards every table and that everything being done in the dining room is done with finesse and purpose.
I am a lifetime New Yorker and well traveled for both business and personal. What a fantastic place for a local or a tourist! Grand Central on it's own is a NYC landmark and quite special. Like all New Yorkers on the run. Having a view from the
Upper Balcony was so unique and so special, it was breathtaking. The energy below you is fantastic, yet
you are at the mezzanine level overlooking it all and it somehow is not noisy! How? I do not know!!! Ha! Although it was a birthday celebration, I will be back! For lunch for dinner or just a salad and wine! My steak was fantastic as was my nieces. My two other niece and nephew do not eat meat and they had an equally fantastic selection if seafood, vegetarian options!! What a great place and I look forward to coming back! Thank you!!!
The ambiance was fantastic. We were excited when we started with the garlic bread with gorgonzola fondue as it was terrific. However, the steaks were just ok and the side dishes were lousy. Had a great time being in Grand Central Station but have had better meals.
Always wanted to eat at MJ’s so we had Sunday brunch at Grand Central in NY. The food was fine, steak was a bit over cooked (I like well done... don’t judge blame my mother who didn’t know how to cook a steak growing up). But it was burnt on the ends. The sides were okay, nothing spectacular. The service was a little uneven, at times very attentive and then other times we were waiting for water. The location is cool in Grand Central terminal, neat old time bathrooms, but almost everyone I encountered was unfriendly and seemed bothered when I asked a question, like where is the bathroom or what was the steak cut of the day? So nothing extreme. I was hoping for something a little special or unique and I would say it was barely on the low end side of any upscale steak chain you could name. Not bad, just a little disappointing.
Some of the best service I've received in a long time! When the restaurant called to confirm my reservation, they noticed I had selected the reason for attending was a birthday and had asked if I'd like to pre-arrange a birthday dessert and have my boyfriend's name written on the plate in chocolate! We also were able to order an off the menu deep fried French fry. The staff was all incredible!
Very small drinks and wine servings. Dry salads. Very ordinary steak, shrimp and crab cakes. Also, the "Blueberry Crisp" desert was a piece of blueberry pie. Nothing crispy about it. Also, even though the waiter told us it's served warm, it was not. At these prices, I would never recommend the restaurant.
Oddly, I do not use this restaurant as the steakhouse it obviously is. Although I can tell you that the bar burger (only at the bar) is terrific and at $12, a great price for these days. The guacamole is handmade, very tasty and fresh with great chips ($13). For the special occasion we went to the restaurant (much quieter than you would imagine, as it is above and open to the concourse of Grant Central Terminal. The tuna tartare is sushi quality: deep red and smooth as silk. Very filling (for me). And the 23-layer chocolate cake is, well, I don't know whether President Trump ever saw it, but it can give any chocolate cake in the world a run for its money, and it's "huge."
