Mia's Italian Kitchen
The inspiration came from one of the partner’s unique relationship with his great-grandmother – she didn’t speak a word of English, so they communicated through food. Originally from Naples, Italy, she used easy, simple, raw ingredients - an approach that Mia’s will carry over in our own menu, which will include house-made pasta, Italian sandwiches, charcuterie, and square pizzas.
Great location! The weather was beautiful so you can dine outside at the few street tables or dine inside. I was near the large open windows inside. Great Italian food and homemade pastas. I had the stuffed focaccia bread as an appetizer and it was delicious. I highly recommend.
As always the pasta is excellent and their pizzas are a real value — huge portion and very tasty. Salads are superb. The only downside is it’s pretty loud and it can be hard to hold a quiet conversation, although the upstairs is a bit quieter.
Our previous 4 dinners have been good, but tonight was thoroughly disappointing. Our salads, appetizer, and entrees were delivered at the same time, the veal piccata was extremely tough, and the Bolognese was not as good as in the past. We will be going elsewhere in the future.
Food is amazing! Good sized portions and good prices.
Good all around enjoyment. Food and service was very good.
The happy hour was amazing. Loved the chicken sliders.
The food was EXCELLENT !!!
RAY, our server, was EXCELLENT !!!
The noise level upstairs became a little loud later in the evening but BETTER than downstairs
We'll definitely god back !! They were OUT of the SUNDAY GRAVY entree last Sunday evening : (
I gotta go back and get THAT !!!!
Great food. Great location. Delicious comfort Italian with generous portions. The service was excellent. Dennis was an extremely attentive waiter. We’d definitely go back.
Service is really slow. Took 20 minutes after I ordered a glass of wine to receive it. The restaurant is so loud—my friends and I were yelling to hear each other.
We had Laura as our server and she was amazing the food was a little salty but all around was a great time
The fresh pasta was delicious and the cheese and meat board was outstanding!
Highly recommend. From Start to finish we really enjoyed. I’ll be back!!!
Worst Italian food I ever had in the US.
Food and service were outstanding. new GM, Fadi, is very detailed oriented.
Service was very slow at a time the restaurant was not busy.
Great atmosphere paired with great food. The staff was very attentive and prompt with recommendations for first time customers. Love the area that it’s located in and that the king st trolley actually drops off right in front of the restaurant.
Great food, all made in house. Atmosphere was a cool Italian vibe and service was friendly.
our server talked too much to us about what he liked... it took too long to order for a party of 6 when we had to hear what he liked in contrast to what we ordered.
Omg it was so loud in there... Bathroom had line - walk up to the 3rd floor, whhhhatttt?! Food mediocre except for pasta ( very dry) not alot of sauce. Service by raymond very good-best part of meal.
I really like this place. We have done two family dinners here and the food is always great. The only downside for me were the flies. The doors and windows are left open so flies are buzzing all around the table and landing on things. It's also a bit warm in there when they have the windows and doors open. I haven't sat upstairs either time so maybe it's better up there. I am sure when it's cooler/cold out, it would be much better as far as the flies are concerned.
My teenage son and I went to Mia's for dinner on Sunday. This was my second time eating there within a few months; the first time had been with coworkers for lunch on a weekday. The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant is great; I love the vibe here. My first time here, I'd ordered the spaghetti pomodoro and was very disappointed with the extreme heavy-handedness of both salt and garlic. It was almost inedible, but I figured it was the "B team" in the kitchen that might be having an off day and I didn't want to make a fuss so I just picked at it without comment. On Sunday, I once again ordered the same spaghetti pomodoro because I was craving a simple pasta dish and figured their A team would be working since the restaurant was full to capacity. Wrong. If anything, this time it was worse. I think this is just the dish! My mouth was numb from the salt and garlic, and I hated it. I had a caesar salad to start and it was fine (really nice cheese on it, BTW), but sadly they rushed out my pasta dish while I was two bites into my salad. And my son's pizza (which he said was fine; not the best or worst he's had) came out 7 minutes later. Manners dictate that you don't eat your meal until everyone at the table has been served, but my pasta was getting cold by the time my son's pizza came to the table. Meanwhile a nearby table was visited by what I presume was the manager apologizing that their food had taken 45 minutes to come out, so I considered myself lucky by comparison. I did not complain; maybe I should have, but I really don't want to be "that person" who fusses and is difficult. I ate some of my pasta (the pasta itself is really fresh and I enjoyed the texture) but the sauce was just impossible. You know what they say, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... it's my fault for ordering the same dish and expecting different results. I won't be eating here again but I do have to say, the restaurant itself is really nice and it is a great spot on King Street.
We had the best first experience and Mia’s! We sat outside with our dogs which was perfect. Our server was outstanding and management was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. Can’t wait to return in the near future! Good was delicious all around. Thank you all so much!
We got together with good friends for brunch at Mia’s. We ordered the fixed price, choose anything to eat option. It worked really well to share small plates. Everything was great! We especially enjoyed the breakfast pizza and the meatball Benedict - there was not anything we did not like. My only possible warning is stay away from the Bloody Mary if you do not like black pepper. I actually sent it back because it was undrinkable, in my opinion. Our waitress was very nice about it and brought me another drink. It was a very enjoyable sojourn.
We had a delightful brunch and Candace, our server, was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was superb, but unless you can consume vast portions, stick with individual selections rather than the " open menu" option.
Great and reasonbly priced food. Sat at the upstairs bar/kitchen which was okay. Felt kind of in the way with servers clearing plates. Prefer downstairs.
Restaurant Week // A neat spot with very good service. The Caesar salad was very good but the mushroom pizza lacked flavor.
Very very loud, could hardly hear our eating companion
most food for 6 was just OK
my meal was awful
server was terrible.
had better there before but this night was bad.
Great location, great service, food tastes very good, large portions on many dishes. A bit loud at times. With so many choices in Old Town, this is in the top 3 Italian restaurants for King Street area by the river. We'll return again soon.
The noise level is really loud, a designated quieter area for tables of two would be a nice option
First time at the restaurant and it was amazing! The food and service was amazing.
The food was way too salty. Told the server it was salty and was told they get that complaint a lot. All you tasted was salt.
Would of been nice to have gluten free noodles and pasta. Only serves zucchini noodles in place of gluten free noodles. Nice place. Very loud! Service was a bit slow.
Excellent food and friendly service. Good value for DC area.
The acoustics are terrible and they play annoying music to make things worse. We asked our server if she could suggest to mgnt to turn the music lower--to no avail. The food was average.
On a positive note, the wine selection was excellent and included many good choices by the glass
I always have a great experience at Mia’s, I come here often for business meeting and with my wife. Perfect spot!
The hostesses were very nice. Our waitress Laura was fantastic. Food was amazing!! Would definitely come back again!
I got chicken parmagian and it was extremely salty. My husband ordered a soup and it came out almost after he finished his entree.
We had zucchini fries which were heavy on the batter and overwhelmingly greasy. The pasta with meatball was excellent along with the pizza— very yummy. Overall great location & you can sit outside.
Started with the giant meatball, ask for the bread on the side unless you like soggy bread. Delicious! Tito’s dirty martini was perfect. The bucatini was the best dish of the table, all were great. We also had a special of of the day which was braciole loved it!
Great food and service.
