Good service and beautiful place but food is subpar. My friends and I got the family style deal and they took a long time to bring the main dish...
The hostess was extremely rude and had to continually ask to be seated despite having a reservation. Although the food was good, it was overpriced for the portion size.
So impressed! The food was excellent and the service was great. We will definitely return.
Food was extremely salty
Mi Vida is a good place to get Mexican food. Their chips and salsa are very good, it's unfortunate that they charge for it. I feel that it should automatically come with it in a Mexican restaurant. Also, the entree should come with a small side.
Outside seating, beautiful view on a spring night.
Nice restaurant but we was sitting in a tiny table
This is a consistent favorite restaurant at District Wharf. I marked the little “birthday” box on the Open Table reservation, and at the conclusion of our main course our waiter acted on it by simply sliding a small dessert across the table and saying, “Happy Birthday, madame.” There was no big sombrero or loud singing with clapping of hands. Just a sweet, simple acknowledgment of our special occasion. Very well handled.
The restaurant is beautiful and the wharf is a fun area. Other than that it is a pretty average restaurant. The food is fine (I had the steak tacos). They do not allow you to make any modifications to the food, which is annoying, especially if you have any food sensitivities. They also do not provide chips and salsa, which I think should be base line for a Mexican restaurant. Also note, this is NOT the place you want to go with more than 5 people. If you have a group of 6 or more they force you into a $42pp prix fixe menu, which again you can not adjust regardless of the needs of your guests. Go here because you want to go to a non-seafood restaurant on the wharf. But if you just have a hankering for Mexican, there are many way better options in DC.
Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback about your experience. We work very hard to ensure our guests leave thrilled and I’m disappointed we missed the mark during your visit. We are happy to make any modifications that are within our control. I'm sorry that someone on our team said we could not. In addition, we ask that guests participate in our pre fixe menu during prime time whenever there are 7 or more guests in the party. We are also able to make modifications to this menu
Delicious food and drinks!!
Drinks were good. Food left a little bit to be desired.
Beautiful day and we sat on the upper balcony. What else needs to be said? Food was excellent as always. We shared the guacamole and both had tacos for lunch. Delicious! Still my favorite restaurant at the Wharf!
They were amazing. I was celebrating our engagement with my fiancee and they gave us free champagne!!
Super busy on the wharf...which is why I made reservations - but sometimes even with reservations you end up waiting - but not at Mi Vida - went straight to the table and the waiter was attentive and food came quickly....and was amazing. Margaritas were delish, but could have been a tad bigger! great views and atmosphere....thank you!
Food and service were excellent. Our server was spot on with recommendations.
This was our first time at Mi Vida and we LOVED it! The ambiance is great and the food is out of this world. We had the carnitas tacos (YUM!), and the enchiladas suizas (one with ranchera and the other with tomatillo sauce). Seriously so delicious and I can’t wait to come back!!
Friend order carne asada well done. Came medium rare. About 2 hours later, when we were leaving they brought it in a to go bag. They gave her tacos probably 1 hour into the wait. And a free dessert. Embarrassed as this was my suggestion.
We actually arrived an hour early for our reservation and they were at a 2 hour wait for walkins and they still found us a table immediately. The guacamole was the best I have ever had and the carnita tacos were wonderful.
Excellent food and service! Our server, Josh, was exceptional. The food was amazing, as well. No complaints here.
Delicious food, great service, wonderful views of the water. The ambiance is festive, modern with some beautiful artwork.
You won’t be disappointed!!
Beautiful location with floor to ceiling window views. The service was really outstanding -- even though my dinner companion was tied up late due to the worse than usual traffic Leo was understanding and never made me feel pressured to eat and move on. The Guac and chips were great! Easily enough for 2 or 3 ahead of the meal. The chips were replenished when my friend arrived 45 minutes late (welcome to DC traffic and beltway accidents!). The classic margaritas were good -- not sure why others have said they were bland and not limey enough -- I found them to be authentic (the lime circle floating in each glass was a nice touch). Pork tacos and the salmon rounded out the night for us. The salmon had a great presentation, but it was a little dry. Still nicely seasoned, but could have come out of the oven just a few minutes early. I hope Mi Vida stays on the wharf -- if so I'll be back!
The food was delicious and the view from the third floor was great! We were super happy with our experience
My name is Erik Fonseca I had a reservation for 18:15 on 3 April 2019. I arrived at the restaurant at 17:20, 55 min before my reservation. I asked the Hostess if it would be possible to be seated earlier, the hostess asked me to wait a couple minutes while they got the table ready. There were over 10 empty tables outside - while I was waiting she and other hostess were taking all walk ins and directing them to outside, yet still open tables and I was not getting seated. I asked the hostess if she was going to take me to a table, she said my reservation was for 18:15 and that i would have to wait until then. I was very upset for not being given an option to either wait or leave, instead I was mislead to be believe that the table was ready for me. The three hostess on the date were extremely unprofessional and rude speaking over me, even though I was polite and respectful towards them. I returned at 18:15, and yes, the restaurant had several empty tables all along.... seems that your personnel needs training!
The service was quite good, but the food, specifically the platano seafood platter, was terrible. A restaurant that is located in the wharf should not serve shrimp that tastes frozen and oysters on the half shell with barely any meat. The dining experience was a big disappointment.
We LOVE coming to MiVida!
Great food and Great service
The brunch sampler option was fantastic - wonderful deal, and so much delicious food!
Brunch menu was ok, not many choices. The staff was not really friendly. The hostess did not smile. Didn’t really feel welcome. Our server was nice.
Mostly the experience was ok. The food was nothing great. Noise level was extremely high. We sat on the balcony outside. Great view of the waterfront but patrons would randomly come and stand around to take in the view, thus disturb the people who were eating on the balcony.
Food was delicious! Marlon was an exceptional server. Attentive without being overbearing, friendly, knowledgeable, and funny!
Great space. Great food. Great service. We will return!
The salsa was way too sour and salty, the classic margarita bland, empanadas de mariscos were greasy and with cod (just say cod not mariscos), lamb tacos mushy, everything was seriously oversalted, even the churros we ordered for dessert. The chips were fine.
The best guacamole! And the best waiter! A great spot
Best guacamole and best carnitas tacos I've ever eaten! My new favorite spot for Mexican food!
Mi Vida is a beautiful restaurant in a sexy location with delicious cocktails and it's definitely a place I would recommend to friends. I'd just offer the caveat that the menu is uneven. There are some outstanding dishes on the menu - the guacamole and carne asade come to mind first - but there are also some dishes that aren't good at all - sadly, the lamb is among those. I say give it a go! Enjoy the waterfront views and divine drinks. And if your dish isn't among the winners, you can always ask for a replacement, right? Enjoy!
The staff was very helpful, attentive to detail, always checking on our party, overall, excellent service. The food was delicious and the views were beautiful. Truly impressed and grateful for everything.
The first time we came here we really liked it. However, the restaurant needs to do more to offer a larger variety of creative dishes. Having to order rice and beans a la carte is anti-Mexican. The barbacoa was undersalted and underspiced. We ordered a Caipirinha—not an uncommon drink in Latin America—and the waiter looked at us as if he'd never heard it. And when it finally came to the table, it tasted like the ocean. Apparently, the bar tender mistook sugar for salt! Come on... basics Mi Vida. My boyfriend commented we could have had a better Mexican meal at the family owned Taqueria El Sabor in Baltimore, for 1/4 the price.
Just met up with some old friends for dinner and conversation.
This was our first time at Mi Vida and we were seated on the second level which may be a little quieter but is rather dark. Next time I'll request seating on the upper level or first level. Having said that our waiter David was great and food was great. Service was fast without being rushed. We were heading to a Play so assuming service is always fast we'll keep it on our list for pre Theatre dining. Will definitely be back and recommend to others.
