Mi Cava & Cocina family has been in the restaurant industry for 30+ years, although it has been a different concept than MI CAVA & COCINA, our passion for quality food and drinks is unparalleled. Mi CAVA & COCINA is a very long-planned project that took years of development; from looking for the perfect location which will make an impact on the community, to finding the perfect team to create an amazing menu and be confident that we can deliver exceptional service. From multiple short trips around the Northwest to the very long tiring trips to Mexico seeking inspiration, to countless hours creating the recipes that made it to the menu.

I loved the guac and chips and the steelhead trout. My partner devoured the burrito. It was a wonderful place for date night with warm, hospitable service and a quiet setting to talk. We will be back.

Went in with my family on a Sunday around noon. Only a few tables occupied. Honestly, the food tasted great but it was nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to Mexican food. Their rent must be really high because it’s reflected in the price of the food. Probably won’t eat here again. You’ll pay half the cost by going to a taqueria.

The food was delicious, but the service was rushed. We ordered appetizers (which were delicious) and the entrees were at the table five minutes after the appetizers arrived! A little better pacing of the meal would help. It wasn't overly crowded, but it felt like they were in a hurry to turn over the table.

I’m disappointed that eating at your restaurant was not a possibility, as my wife and I had high hopes for a romantic evening. At 35 minutes in we asked for a drink menu that proved useless as no one would ever take our drink order. At 45 minutes in, we flagged down a waiter who asked us if we replied to the email giving our orders. We had, but he didn’t have that in the system so he had to write everything down. So at 45 minutes in NOTHING had been done. With the simplified menu, it makes no sense how you wouldn’t be prepared. At 1 hour 15 minutes in without anything besides a tiny bowl of chips and salsa, we finally lost hope that we would ever be served a meal and left. We were not alone in leaving, and after seeing several couples who had gotten there before us leave without being served, and we later saw some of them at another restaurant. Instead of Steelhead and Sirloin, we instead had to settle for chicken tenders at McMenamins next door as by the time we finally left, setting up reservations elsewhere wasn’t a possibility. While this wasn’t the fine dining experience we expected, it was such a relief to actually be served food-the minimum requirement of any restaurant. I know yesterday was likely the busiest day your restaurant has faced so far and it’s reasonable that wait times could be longer. Still, that your restaurant overbooked and didn’t even remotely handle that traffic is unacceptable. I’d like my $200 back.

We went for the Valentine’s Day experience, where we had to prepay for dinner/service. The menu was limited, the portions were small and the main course- steak - was served medium rare for my husband then medium for me (not consistent and they did not ask preference). The service was so slow, which I would usually excuse given it was a holiday, however they had us email them our orders the day before so they could be “prepared”. We sat for 40 minutes before the appetizer even came and no waiters came by to check on us/ give water refills.

We were celebrating a birthday with friends. We had a wonderful experience both with the service and the food. All of the staff were friendly and attentive. We felt like family. The food was delicious and Ezekiel, the owner, made our evening feel as though we were all celebrating together.

This place is incredible. Great family owned business that takes care to make good food and takes care of their customers. I had their seafood enchiladas and they were incredible. You could tell that the seafood was fresh and the sauce was probably made in house because it was considerably better than sauce from other places. My wife got the sirloin steak and it was possibly the best steak we have ever gotten in Portland and we have been to every steakhouse downtown. If you are considering going there, just go. Incredible Mexican food, cocktails, and excellent service.

Really great spot for a date or a group night out. Our server was really nice and attentive. We ordered both of the margarita samplers which, no lie, was basically like getting 8 full size margaritas. Our favorite was the tamarind! The seafood they use in their dishes is really fresh and tasty and the plates are totally shareable. Love the mariachi playlist too, it was fire! I think this would be a fun spot to have dinner at when the place is packed to be honest. :)

We tried this restaurant 2 weeks ago and have been back twice. Tried different menu items. Exceptional food. The pulpo and pork carnitas are the best. This feels like elevated spanish food. Amazing flavor combinatons. Creative and tasty drinks too. Very attentive service too. Highly recommend this place

We enjoyed our meals but my shrimp tacos didn't contain much shrimp. I had the margarita sampler which contained 4 good sized samples but they were extremely sweet and tasted like bottled mixes. Service was very good.

We wanted to finde Mexican food with a flare. We loved every dish we ordered. Definitely recommend this restaurant. We do though have a complaint on the selection of wine. For it being called “Cava” Cellar it did not have a big wine or tequila selection. Well at least not that we were offered.

The food was pretty good but our server was very shady. It was our first time at this place. They asked when we were seated if we wanted chips and salsa. We said yes. Some time later a different server came by and set guacamole and chips down without saying anything. We thought nothing of it and we’re still waiting on our salsa. It never came and when we got the bill they had added a $15 charge for an order of guacamole. When confronted about having called it salsa the server responded “that’s just what we call it”. Very gross business practice and I definitely won’t return.

The mussels are fantastic. All the food is great. The restaurant took over an old Newport Bay restaurant so the ambience isn't what you would expect from a local place with food this good. So worth going. Try it!

This was an unexpectedly lovely dining experience. We were just looking for something pretty close to the airport but not out of our way, and Mi Cava couldn't have been a better selection. The service was attentive but never in the way, and the food was really good. Everything we ordered was delicious and perfectly prepared. Definitely want to go back!
