MF has the most amazing melt in your mouth fish and signature nigiri pieces I have ever eaten.
Doesn’t live up to expectations. Taste is not impressive, especially given the $
There's not option for a 4 minus or that would have been my rating. We chose MF Sushi on a recommendation from a friend. We ordered the Panko Shrimp which had way too many sauces on it--it was swimming in a type of spicy mayo and eel sauce. We ordered the baked lobster as well and I would review it the same way as the shrimp. The others with me liked them, but both were way over dressed for me. Avocado roll--good but would not go back for it. We also ordered the miso cod and I would not recommend it to anyone--not good. We had 3 orders of the Hamachi and it was delicious. One of us ordered the fried shrimp roll as prepared on the menu--I'm not a fan of eel sauce, so I ordered one without it and it was very good. We ordered another roll and I cannot remember what it was. Also ordered edamame that never arrived. I would try it again since it has so many loyal followers--many are my friends. Some highs this visit, but was not blown away all around.
Excellent service and impeccable speed, attention to detail and menu items. It's amazing how quickly they turn around all of the sushi rolls and dishes to enjoy - fresh fish, incredibly tasty and some of the best sushi rice I've ever had.
Continues to be the best quality sushi in Houston! Outstanding service, great ambiance and excellent food. Always enjoy, never disappoints!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Loved the sushi. Salmon and truffle was amazing! MF’s facial hair is ah-maxing!
MF Sushi was fresh and delicious. I'm really looking forward to trying their omakase.
MF Sushi is consistently amazing sushi with impeccable service
Given my fixed retirement budget, MF is too expensive for me to dine except for two times a year. Otherwise, it's absolutely wonderful.
Outstanding sushi, the fish is so fresh and so beautifully presented. Such a treat and by far the best sushi and Japanese food in the Houston Metroplex area.
We heard about this place and had to drive in from Beaumont to try it. It was our anniversary so we decided MF ask our dinner place. Love it! Our first time and everything from the fresh fish to creative items on the menu and our server was amazing!! Will be Our go to place every time we head into town.
Best sushi, atmosphere and value in Houdton
Consistently excellent on all levels. And a very nice space with good design and nice ambiance though those banquettes are a bit tight.
Service is good. Salad is delicious. I like their grill food, esp
Fantastic all around. Never regret eating at MF
MF Sushi never fails to disappoint. The fish here is unparalleled quality, I’ve truly never found somewhere that has higher quality fish. Ambiance is lovely and the waitstaff is so kind! Every time I’m in town I always come here.
expensive but worth it. we for date night. next time we will do the tasting menu
Amazing food and outstanding service.
Outstanding! The best sushi place in the US!
Excellent Otoro (extra fatty tuna). Excellent service. Will try again
This is some of the best sushi/sashimi I have had. Our waiter was not very attentive and the meal felt rushed, a price for amazing food?? I will be going back.
My wife and I went on a Friday night. There was a great ambiance and energy to the place. It was very crowded with tightly spaced tables, but that is ok. Our waiter was very good and very nice. He made good recommendations and gave us just the right amount of attention. The food was good but not great. It was not worth the premium cost ($200 with no wine on our ticket). For example, the chef choice nigiri was 6 pieces for $35. I thought it would be 10 pieces since it was chief choice of random fish. Otherwise, it was a higher price than buying 6 pieces that I actually wanted from the a la carte menu. The wagyu beef on a grill was $90 for 8 bites - not unexpected but a bit more than I would have guessed. The cod was great. Sushi rolls were good but small. The nigiri pieces were the best. I think it is a very good restaurant. But I do not think it is worth the premium pricing it charges. Again the service was excellent.
Love this place
The best sushi in town, service is not the most welcoming but overall delighted with the quality of the sushi
I took my 70-plus-year-old friend to MF sushi for the first time for him. He kept saying that it was an experience of an lifetime. And, he has had many great food experiences over the world!
Our waitress Trina was very friendly and professional. She confirmed the taste of the Uni before serving it. Went above and beyond!
I have been to 50+ high end sushi restaurants in my life so far and MF Sushi is definitely my number 1!
Overall food was excellent. 2 toro nigiri were the smallest I'd ever seen. Yes. They were tasty. Certainly not enough for dinner even with an octopus salad. I am not a big eater, but even for me that was really small. I had to order another dish.
MF Sushi is by far THE BEST sushi restaurant I have ever tried (and I'm talking worldwide). From start to finish the food is outstanding. My wife and I have eaten here 20 - 25 times since it opened a few years ago, and every time the food is consistently delicious. There are lots of GOOD sushi restaurants with fresh fish, good sake selections, edamame, etc., but none come close to the flavor and creativity that Chef Chris Kinjo and his staff prepare. If you like nigiri, order the Signature pieces -- they melt in your mouth and you will have a hard time believing that what you have just eaten is raw fish. The egg plant, lobster appetizer, baked eel (whole)....the list goes on. All are exquisite.
For sake, try the Gold Flake. It is well balanced, mild, and is a real treat.
There is no question that MF Sushi is one of the very best in Houston. It has so much going for it.
But the portion size is incredibly stingy. Not generous. Getting smaller if that were even possible.
It is delicious, but it is so precious that it is making UCHI look like a bargain. If that weren't bad enough, I am a regular customer and live in the neighborhood. Yet I am treated like some out of town visitor, given a lousy table with lousy waitstaff. I can forgive a restaurant on a busy weekend night, but really, this type of treatment mid week just sends me to explore other options. Enjoy.
Mike was the best waiter we have had so far and we frequent MF a lot.
Great service, very knowledgeable staff, beautiful backdrop, and delicious sushi.
MF sushi is one of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been around the world. That includes Momo Yama a Michelin star in Seoul, South Korea.
The food is packed with flavor and if you are sitting at the counter you’ll see how the chiefs prepare the sushi with joy
Christina our server was excellent. Truly understood the items on the menu. A real asset to your business.
I've been a frequent visitor of MF in Houston (and Atlanta) over the years. I was loving last year and early this year, but the menu and Omakase selections have been less creative and less interesting in Houston the past 6 months. The quality remains great, but the flavors and inventiveness aren't what they were.
This place is consistently delicious with great service! Our favorite date night spot. Especially sitting at the sushi bar!
MF Sushi hands down delivers the best sushi in Houston! This place is on point, it's pricey, but backed up by high quality sushi and impeccable service. Eating here is an experience, not just a meal. Great for a romantic date night :) Make sure to make a reservation, as this place usually books up.
Husbands birthday. Food was all great!!!
This was a nice place to get some really fresh sushi.
great sushi, one of the best i have had
Himachi Kama is amazing and a must try
MF Sushi is one of the must visit restaurants of Houston
In my opinion this is the best sushi place in Houston. The atmosphere and the food are authentic. The service is exceptional. I have never ordered anything I did not find both visually appealing as well as delicious. The avocado balls fit that description to a T from the green of the avocado to the off white color of the truffle mousse to the gold flakes sprinkled on top. I also recommend the Madai as well as their spicy tuna roll which is anything, but an ordinary spicy tuna roll.
The food is always fresh and amazing at MF! The Wagyu beef is a must!
